Yin Qian sat in the large tent, with messengers constantly entering and exiting to report the battle situation around Chi Huo City. No orders had been sent out from here, as Yin Qian trusted the soldiers under his command.
A bloodied general hurried into the tent, cupping his fists in salute. "Reporting to the Great General, our forces have entered the inner city and encountered only minor resistance. All enemies who dared to fight have been slain, and we have captured over ten thousand enemy soldiers. However..."
Yin Qian glanced at the silent general, already knowing what he was hesitant to say. He directly asked, "Did Long Jiu escape?"
Seeing that his general had anticipated this outcome, the officer could only report everything honestly. "The Great General is indeed insightful. It is my incompetence; when we entered the enemy's camp to search, we found no trace of Long Jiu."
Yin Qian waved his hand dismissively. "This matter does not concern the soldiers. Sun General need not worry; if Long Jiu had not fled, you would not have been able to keep him here. You may go and rest." With Yin Qian showing no signs of blame, Sun General let out a sigh of relief and exited the tent.
Although the enemy commander had escaped, it did not affect the certainty of their victory. In Chi Huo City, apart from a few like Long Jiu who managed to flee, all others were captured.
Yin Qian did not linger on the front lines but hurried back to Yinzhou City. In the main hall of the general's mansion in Yinzhou City, Cheng Shi stood below, reeking of blood as he reported the situation to Yin Qian. Noticing Yin Qian's silence, Cheng Shi spoke again: "My lord, this is what happened. This mask was left behind by the enemy. Everyone except for Long Jiu wore such masks; one of them was black."
Cheng Stone Table d his men had failed to stop Long Jiu and others; they were in a hurry to leave and outnumbered Cheng Shi's group. While some stayed back to engage with Cheng Shi's men, others quickly escaped. By the time Cheng Shi's group dealt with those left behind, Long Jiu and his companions had vanished without a trace. Thus, they could only return with the bodies to report back to Yin Qian.
Yin Qian took the mask in hand and examined it closely before handing it to Mo Wen beside him. "Mo Wen, have you seen this item before?"
Mo Wen took the mask; it depicted a ghostly face with green skin and sharp teeth. After studying its design, Mo Wen frowned and shook his head. "I have never seen it."
When Cheng Shi returned to report, Yin Qian was already back in Yinzhou City, chatting with Mo Wen and others. Mo Wen intended to excuse himself upon Cheng Shi's entrance but was kept by Yin Qian.
"I didn't expect it to be these people," Yin Qian sighed.
"Does Senior Yin recognize this mask?" Mo Wen asked curiously; while these masks were somewhat unique, they were not particularly extraordinary.
"I have heard of them. If Old Man's guess is correct, these people belong to a mysterious organization that wears masks depicting ghostly faces with green skin and sharp teeth while on missions. This organization is known as Shen Gui Men," Yin Qian shared his speculation.
"Shen Gui Men!" Upon hearing those words from Yin Qian, Mo Wen suddenly recalled the corpse in the cave of Cloud Mist Forest and that final letter—he still carried it with him.
"Indeed, I didn't expect this group to resurface; this matter is serious. Old Man must report this immediately; I won't keep you any longer, Xian Zhi." After expressing his thoughts, Yin Qian became serious.
"Shen Gui Men... I didn't expect them to be connected to Shu Cang. It seems I need to pay Shu Cang a visit," Mo Wen said as he took his leave from Yin Qian and headed back to his residence.
