"Clan Leader wants to speak with Mr. Jiang, everyone step outside."
All members of the Liao Family exited the hospital room and closed the door behind them, leaving Li Yang outside, staring blankly.
At this moment, he couldn't help but regard Jiang Chen with newfound respect. Jiang Chen had said nothing and done nothing, yet he had managed to leave Li Yang feeling utterly humiliated.
Li Yang was not foolish; he realized that Jiang Chen was no ordinary person. Initially, he had harbored prejudice against Jiang Chen due to his youth and arrogance, but given the current situation, he took a moment to reflect and recognized that his judgment had been hasty. As someone in a position of power, he should have a broader perspective and not let personal emotions cloud his view of others.
"Brother Yi, it seems I indeed underestimated Mr. Jiang," Li Yang said, his tone filled with regret.
One good thing about soldiers is their straightforwardness; they cannot hide their feelings and will express their displeasure openly through actions and words.
"Whether you underestimated him or not will become clear once the issues with the Holy Witch Cult are resolved. Discussing it now feels somewhat hollow. I am also looking forward to Mr. Jiang surprising me, or perhaps even shocking me," Zeng Xianyi said with a slight smile, a glimmer of hope in his eyes.
Inside the hospital room, Jiang Chen pulled back the curtains, letting sunlight flood in. Standing against the light, he observed Liao Yangmai on the hospital bed, who struggled to sit up but found himself unable to move.
"You are Jiang, Mr. Jiang. I cannot stand up; please forgive me," Liao Yangmai said nervously. This Mr. Jiang was indeed young, but since Li Hai Feng had spoken highly of his abilities, there must be truth to it.
"Just lie down. Clan Leader Liao, I must say I admire your spirit for not yielding to the tyranny of the Holy Witch Cult," Jiang Chen replied with a light chuckle.
"Though the Holy Witch Cult is formidable and has stirred chaos in Xiangxi, I am a Huaxia person; how could I submit to an alien cult? Moreover, I have heard that we Huaxia still have experts like Mr. Jiang. As long as you take action, Mr. Jiang, you can surely restore order in Xiangxi immediately. I will never yield to an alien cult unless they kill me," Liao Yangmai declared passionately, eager for Jiang Chen to understand his resolve.
If not for his incapacitated limbs, he would have been gesturing excitedly.
"Your spirit is commendable. How did Clan Leader Liao come to know about me?" Jiang Chen asked with a smile.
"I heard about you from Clan Leader Li some time ago..." Liao Yangmai replied loudly.
"Oh, I see! I do not like those without backbone; such people deserve to die," Jiang Chen said casually.
Though spoken in a calm tone, Liao Yangmai felt a chill run down his spine; there was no joking in Jiang Chen's words—someone of his caliber could easily commit murder.
Liao Yangmai silently mourned for those from the Sha Family and Wu Family while also feeling fortunate that he had not listened to his kin and submitted to the Holy Witch Cult. It seemed that heaven had not been unkind to the Liao Family; after more than a year of good deeds and virtue, they were finally being rewarded today.
If Jiang Chen had arrived later, the Liao Family would either have aligned themselves with the Holy Witch Cult or faced annihilation. Had they sided with the Holy Witch Cult, Liao Yangmai knew that Jiang Chen would never spare them.
Between the Holy Witch Cult and Jiang Chen, Liao Yangmai found himself more inclined to trust Jiang Chen. After all, someone who could instill fear even in Li Hai Feng must possess extraordinary abilities. Thus, Liao Yangmai firmly believed that Jiang Chen's strength surpassed that of the Holy Witch Cult.
"Mr. Jiang, I am Liao Yangmai and certainly not someone without backbone. Although my limbs are now useless and I may end up bedridden for life, my family will continue to accumulate good deeds and promote Huaxia virtues," Liao Yangmai stated earnestly.
