Seeing the Wu Family and the Ma Clan Leader bowing and apologizing, Liao Yangmai's vanity was somewhat satisfied. His main target, however, was the Sha Family, which he believed could no longer exist in Xiangxi.
As for the Wu Family and the Ma Family, their existence had little impact on the Liao Family. Watching the Wu Family and the Ma Clan Leader repeatedly bowing, Liao Yangmai felt a twinge of compassion.
“Wu Clan Leader, Ma Clan Leader, since you are being forced into this, I won’t directly execute everyone. Here’s what we’ll do: from now on, you will donate half of your family’s profits to the Xiangxi Charity Foundation each year. Let’s consider this incident as if it never happened. This foundation will now be under Mr. Jiang’s name,” Liao Yangmai said.
“Understood.”
“Of course.” The two Clan Leaders of the Wu Family and the Ma Family hesitated at first but quickly agreed. Though they felt pained about losing money, this was still a better outcome than losing their lives or their families.
Liao Yangmai was a clever man. Apart from Shi Tao Di, whom he intended to eliminate, he aimed to use this method on the Wu Family and the Ma Family—first to intimidate them, then to show leniency, ensuring that these two families would obediently comply in the future.
After dealing with the Ma Family and the Wu Family, Liao Yangmai turned his attention back to Shi Tao Di.
“Elder Shi, prepare yourself. The day after tomorrow, my Liao Family will officially take over all of your Sha Family’s assets. As for you, while you can escape death, you cannot avoid punishment. You will work in my Liao Family’s quarry from now on; consider it a way to spare your life,” Liao Yangmai stated.
Shi Tao Di was furious but remained silent with his head down.
“Do you have any objections?” Liao Yangmai asked.
“No, no objections, Clan Leader Liao. Can I go back now?” Shi Tao Di replied.
“Well then, since there are no objections, everyone can leave now. Don’t disturb Mr. Jiang while he’s eating,” Liao Yangmai waved his hand dismissively.
“Oh, and Shi Tao Di, don’t think about playing any tricks,” Liao Yangmai warned once more.
Shi Tao Di nodded grimly before leaving.
The Ma Family and Clan Leader Wu looked much better than Shi Tao Di. After leaving the restaurant, they felt relieved; compared to the Sha Family, their outcome was far better. They would only earn slightly less money each year. Even with reduced profits, they would still make over a hundred million annually; donating half for charity wouldn’t affect their comfortable lives.
Through this experience, they realized that surviving was what mattered most—money was merely external. If Clan Leader Liao hadn’t shown mercy today, their fate would have been much worse. Thus, they felt grateful towards Liao Yangmai.
“Wu Clan Leader, I didn’t expect Clan Leader Liao to be so considerate of us,” one remarked.
“Indeed. Just donating half of our profits for charity means we’ll be giving less than what the Liao Family likely will. Moreover, by doing charity work, we can maintain a good reputation without suffering any real losses. It’s just that the Sha Family has had a rough time this go-around,” another added.
Hearing this conversation, Shi Tao Di turned around and glared at the Ma Family and Clan Leader Wu.
“Do you not know who Liao Yangmai is? He is ruthless beyond measure; we can’t even compare to him in that regard. Right now he is merely enjoying temporary success; the Saint Witch Sect Leader hasn’t arrived yet. Who knows who will laugh last? He wants me to work in a quarry? When I rise again, I’ll make him sweep the streets,” Shi Tao Di said angrily.
The two Clan Leaders of the Ma Family and Wu Family were beginning to lose trust in this Saint Witch Sect Leader as well.
“Elder Shi, Clan Leader Liao is actually quite nostalgic. If you plead with him privately, perhaps he will spare you. As for the Saint Witch Sect Leader—truthfully speaking—we’ve never seen him; how powerful he truly is remains unknown. I believe there’s an eighty to ninety percent chance he isn’t Mr. Jiang’s match; we’ve just witnessed Mr. Jiang’s capabilities firsthand,” Ma Clan Leader suggested.
