If Jiang Chen stood beside her, Liu Liangmei would probably be furious. The thought of the usually aloof Liu Liangmei losing her composure made Lou Yijing's anticipation grow even stronger.
"Hehe, Lou Yijing, you think too highly of yourself. Do you really believe your charm is that great? At fifty, one knows their destiny, but it seems you still don't understand yours," Liu Liangmei said coldly. When it came to verbal sparring, she knew she couldn't compete with Lou Yijing.
The same went for men. Back when she practiced Daji's Enchantment Technique, Liu Liangmei felt embarrassed, while Lou Yijing seemed to master it effortlessly, as if she were the reincarnation of Daji herself. Even their master praised her, saying that had Lou Yijing entered the court a century ago, she could have captivated the emperor to the point of madness. Unfortunately, times had changed too quickly; Zhai Yue Pavilion no longer needed such techniques to enchant other men.
"My charm isn't for you to judge, Mr. Jiang. Do you think I look old?" Lou Yijing replied with a smile.
"You're still quite young, but let's get down to business. Please show me the Shuangyue Jade Pendant," Jiang Chen said, showing little interest in Lou Yijing's charm; he simply wanted to see what was so special about the pendant.
"Mr. Jiang, you really are impatient. But since I've promised you, I will certainly deliver," Liu Liangmei said as she picked up a delicate wooden box from the table and gently pushed it toward Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen caught the box effortlessly and opened it to reveal the Shuangyue Jade Pendant inside.
With just a glance, Jiang Chen could tell that the Shuangyue Jade Pendant was merely an ordinary jade ornament—nothing remarkable about it at all. However, he kept his expression neutral and handed the pendant back to Liu Liangmei.
Liu Liangmei examined the pendant closely. Since the Shuangyue Jade Pendant indeed lacked any impressive or mystical features, she could only assess its authenticity based on its appearance and material.
"It seems real," Liu Liangmei said uncertainly. The pendant did appear flawless, but she knew her junior sister well enough not to believe that Lou Yijing would so willingly present the Shuangyue Jade Pendant.
"But she could easily replicate an identical Shuangyue Jade Pendant; after all, this pendant can only be distinguished by its appearance."
"Liu Liangmei, I wouldn't stoop to such trivialities as replicating a Shuangyue Jade Pendant. This pendant holds no significance for me; I have hundreds of jade pieces that are far superior to it. If Mr. Jiang wants the Shuangyue Jade Pendant, I'll consider it a token of goodwill and gift it to him," Lou Yijing said earnestly.
"Hehe, Lou Yijing, your shamelessness knows no bounds. What token? The Shuangyue Jade Pendant isn't even yours," Liu Liangmei retorted coldly.
"It’s neither yours nor mine; it's now Mr. Jiang's. You don't have any objections, do you?" Lou Yijing replied with a smile.
She spoke as if it were a matter of fact, and surprisingly, Liu Liangmei didn't press further on her doubts.
Jiang Chen remained silent throughout.
"Mr. Jiang, it should be real. Although the Shuangyue Jade Pendant holds significant meaning, it truly looks quite ordinary and lacks any extraordinary qualities," Liu Liangmei stated.
Jiang Chen extended his hand again as Liu Liangmei placed the Shuangyue Jade Pendant back into his palm.
"Whether it has any extraordinary qualities can be determined by trying it out," Jiang Chen said with a smile before closing his hand around it. A sound of cracking jade echoed through the air.
