Lou Yijing believed that Jiang Chen was interested in her charm and beauty. She was quite confident in her allure and thought she understood men well. No man was free from the temptation of beauty, not even a High Monk.
The small boat left the garden's "U"-shaped dock and slowly made its way toward Yan Dang Lake. Yan Dang Lake was a natural lake, quite large, almost like a reservoir, so there were no sightseeing boats. However, Lou Yijing had the privilege to be on one.
Jiang Chen stood at the bow of the boat, hands clasped behind his back, while Lou Yijing sat at the edge, gazing at him in a daze, increasingly curious about him. Although he appeared ordinary, at this moment he exuded an aura of towering majesty.
"Let's go over there," Jiang Chen said, pointing westward to Liu Liangmei.
Liu Liangmei nodded and began rowing toward the west.
"Mr. Jiang, that way is Qingliang Temple, filled with a bunch of stubborn monks. It’s rather dull. The scenery is better to the north at Qingliang Mountain; let's head north instead," Lou Yijing suggested.
"Let's go to Qingliang Temple. I'm quite interested in those stubborn monks," Jiang Chen replied with a smile.
"Those monks are really boring. Mr. Jiang, why would you be interested in them?" Lou Yijing frowned, seemingly displeased with the monks at Qingliang Temple.
Jiang Chen picked up on the hint of dissatisfaction in Lou Yijing's tone. "What’s wrong? Do you have a grudge against those monks?" he asked.
"We're separated by Yan Dang Lake; we don't interfere with each other. They don’t bother Xuan Yue Sect, and I won’t seek trouble with Qingliang Temple either. Mr. Jiang, you can go to Qingliang Temple by yourself; I have no interest in such a dull place," Lou Yijing said dismissively.
"You should know quite a bit about Qingliang Temple, right? Last night I saw a halo of Buddha light over it, indicating that the temple's teachings are flourishing and it’s a holy place of Buddhism with a High Monk presiding," Jiang Chen remarked.
"Buddha light? I've lived here for twenty years and have never seen any Buddha light," Lou Yijing replied, puzzled.
"You can't compare yourself to Mr. Jiang. The sacred Buddha light is not something someone with ill intentions like you can perceive," Liu Liangmei sneered.
"If I can't see it, can you?" Lou Yijing retorted.
Liu Liangmei huffed and chose not to respond further.
Jiang Chen felt a bit of a headache but decided not to press the matter further; he would go to the temple himself to verify it.
As the boat approached the western shore, still fifty meters away from land, Jiang Chen lightly leaped off the boat and stepped onto the water's surface as he reached the shore.
"You two stay here; I'll visit alone," Jiang Chen said. If there truly was a High Monk there, even if his cultivation wasn't as strong as Jiang Chen's, it would still be worth visiting.
Lou Yijing had no good impression of Qingliang Temple and was relieved not to go. Liu Liangmei had already stood up but sat back down upon hearing Jiang Chen's words.
Seeing her reaction, Lou Yijing smiled faintly and said once Jiang Chen disappeared into the dense forest along the mountain path, "Sister, you’re not feeling any affection for Chun Xin now, are you?"
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Liu Liangmei frowned, glaring at Lou Yijing. "Besides, we no longer have any sisterly bond, so don't call me 'Sister.'"
Lou Yijing wasn't angry; instead, she smiled and said, "Sister, it seems you care quite a bit about Mr. Jiang. Is it because you've developed feelings for him or something else?"
"I invited Mr. Jiang here specifically to deal with you, so of course I care about him. I'm not as shameless as you, still thinking about how to seduce men at your age," Liu Liangmei replied coldly.
