The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
Ten Thousand Swords in One was momentarily stunned, but quickly regained his senses and instinctively turned to leave. However, just before he could turn away, the woman bathing in the lake surfaced, her snow-white shoulders and alluring skin illuminated by the bright starlight, resembling a dazzling treasure. But beyond this captivating beauty, Ten Thousand Swords in One suddenly focused his gaze and noticed that the woman's face was still covered with a piece of black gauze.
It was hard to imagine someone would wear a veil in such a situation, and with this realization, Ten Thousand Swords in One immediately recognized that the woman bathing in the lake was indeed Zhuque.
He then paused, no longer turning his back on Zhuque, who was at the center of the lake. Instead, he furrowed his brow slightly and stared intently in her direction.
Almost simultaneously, Zhuque seemed to sense something and abruptly turned her head to look over, instantly spotting Ten Thousand Swords in One standing by the lakeside.
She gasped in surprise, instinctively crossing her arms tightly over her chest. Yet her beautiful figure still shone proudly under the starlight, breathtakingly alluring and impossible to conceal.
Ten Thousand Swords in One remained silent; surprisingly, he did not immediately turn away. He continued to face Zhuque while slowly backing away.
From the moment he discovered Zhuque until now, his gaze had not left her.
After an initial shock, a hint of embarrassment crossed Zhuque's eyes. The damp black gauze and her enticing chest beneath her arms were slightly rising and falling, indicating her anger. Especially as she watched Ten Thousand Swords in One continue to face her while retreating slowly, she suddenly spoke with a hint of fury: "Have you seen enough?"
Ten Thousand Swords in One hesitated for a moment, nodded slightly with a hint of apology but still showed no intention of turning his head. He said, "I’m sorry."
Zhuque grew even angrier. Although the black gauze obscured her face and hid her expression, some exposed skin, including the area around her ears and beautiful neck, seemed to flush under the starlight. Her eyes appeared sharp as knives, continuously slicing through Ten Thousand Swords in One's presence.
"You people from the Middle-earth Righteous Path, aren't you always claiming to be gentlemen? Peeking at a woman bathing and not turning away when caught—do you have no shame?" she scolded bitterly. "Hypocrite!"
Ten Thousand Swords in One hesitated, only managing a bitter smile before maintaining his original posture, facing the Vermilion Bird as he retreated, gradually approaching the edge of the forest, and soon disappearing into the woods.
The Vermilion Bird, with her arms crossed, stared intently in that direction. Her chest rose and fell rapidly, her snow-white skin shimmering beautifully under the starlight. Crystal-clear droplets of water gently slid down from her chest and shoulders, yet even the cold lake water could not cool her embarrassment.
Suddenly, a soft shout echoed from the center of the lake. A white figure shot up like lightning to the shore, sweeping up a pile of clothes and rushing into the nearby woods. Moments later, rustling sounds were heard, and soon after, the Vermilion Bird had put on her clothes and swiftly pursued in the direction where Ten Thousand Swords in One had retreated, clearly unwilling to let it go.
However, as she entered the forest, the Vermilion Bird abruptly realized that Ten Thousand Swords in One had not fled as she had imagined. In fact, he was still standing there, looking up at her.
This made the Vermilion Bird even more furious, while a strange feeling flickered in her heart. She thought to herself that this shameless man was truly brazen; after peeping at her, he still didn’t run away. Did he really intend to continue staring?
Oh dear, upon this thought, the Vermilion Bird felt her cheeks flush again. Although she came from a demonic sect, her teachings were not from the rather open-minded Heavenly Joy Sect. On the contrary, she had always placed great importance on boundaries between men and women, which was evident from her masked appearance.
With embarrassment and anger overwhelming her, the Vermilion Bird no longer hesitated. She even skipped over scolding him and charged directly at Ten Thousand Swords in One to attack.
In an instant, flames erupted over Lake Oasis, and the illusion of Firebird could be faintly seen. Ten Thousand Swords in One did not dare to be careless either; he summoned the Dragon Slayer Sword and Azure Light to block the Vermilion Bird's assault. However, after several exchanges, he remained on the defensive.
Despite this, Ten Thousand Swords in One defended himself impeccably. Although the Vermilion Bird's attacks were fierce, she could not gain any advantage over him in a short time. After several rounds of combat, she realized that relying solely on herself would not be enough to defeat him. Feeling wronged and angry all at once, she suddenly stepped back a few paces until she was about ten feet away from Ten Thousand Swords in One, glaring at this seemingly handsome man and stamping her foot in anger as she shouted, “You shameless!”
Ten Thousand Swords in One awkwardly smiled and said, “I truly didn’t mean to.”
The Vermilion Bird spat disdainfully and retorted, “Nonsense! Even if you came over by coincidence before seeing me, why didn’t you turn around and leave? You’ve been staring at me with those thieving eyes; what else could it be but shameless?”
Ten Thousand Swords in One paused for a moment, looking at the Vermilion Bird with a hint of sincerity on his face as he said, “Miss Vermilion Bird, if I seem a bit uneasy about you, I hope you can understand.”
Zhuque was taken aback and said, "What do you mean?"
Ten Thousand Swords in One took a deep breath and then smiled bitterly, saying, "Miss Zhuque, our positions are completely different. If it comes to a fight, we would truly be enemies. Your strength is too great, and your methods are ruthless. Please forgive me for not daring to turn my back on you and walk away; otherwise, I fear I wouldn't even know how I died."
Zhuque slightly furrowed her brows beneath the black veil, not expecting Ten Thousand Swords in One to say such a thing. At that moment, Ten Thousand Swords in One continued, "Miss Zhuque, if we were to switch places, would you dare to turn your back casually in that situation?"
Zhuque snorted but did not respond. Although her expression was hidden, her gaze seemed to soften a bit, indicating that she did not oppose Ten Thousand Swords in One's words. After a moment, she looked at Ten Thousand Swords in One and asked, "How did you come here?"
Ten Thousand Swords in One replied, "In this nearby desert, there are only these two oases suitable for resting. If I didn't come here, there would be nowhere else to go."
Zhuque was from the Demon Sect and had traveled through the Barbaric Desert many times; she naturally understood the terrain nearby and knew that Ten Thousand Swords in One was not speaking falsely. However, for some reason, she found this man somewhat displeasing. Although he was quite handsome, she couldn't help but want to scold him a few times.
It must be because this guy named Ten Thousand Swords in One came from the Azure Cloud Sect.
