The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
Tian Buyi flew for a while and arrived behind a Dune. At this moment, the sounds ahead gradually grew louder, and he could even hear the intense sounds of fighting coming from the other side of the Dune, mixed with angry curses and several roars. Clearly, the sounds he had heard earlier were coming from this.
Tian Buyi listened for a moment, then held his breath and quietly climbed up the Dune, peeking his head out to look down.
The moonlight was bright, illuminating the area below the Dune as if it were daytime. Tian Buyi quickly saw seven people below, all dressed in demonic sect attire. For some reason, they were fighting among themselves. Additionally, there were a few people lying motionless on the ground nearby, with bloodstains and wounds on their bodies, looking as if they were already dead.
At this moment, the fighters were divided into two factions engaged in fierce combat. However, the numbers were extremely uneven; one side had six people while the other had only one burly man. The six were surrounding and attacking the lone man. Although that lone man appeared quite strong, under the relentless assault of six people, he was clearly at a disadvantage.
The roars came from the burly man, who was like a trapped beast.
Tian Buyi soon realized that if it were a one-on-one fight, none of the opponents would be able to match this burly man. However, surrounded by six people, he was completely suppressed. Looking at the situation, it seemed that it wouldn't be long before a victor would emerge.
During the struggle, one of the six, who appeared to be the leader—a thin man—sneered and shouted, “Meng, if you don’t want to die, drop your weapon and come back with me to see the Sect Master. Perhaps he will show mercy and spare your life.”
“Pah!” Meng the Strong pushed back another enemy who charged at him with a knife and spat back angrily, “You bunch of Wandu Sect scum! Even if I die, I won’t fall into your hands.”
The Slim Man’s expression turned cold as he said ominously, “You’re asking for it! Our Wandu Sect has never provoked you. Just take a look at yourself; how dare you speak against our Sect Master?”
The burly man sneered and replied, “Go to hell! I’ve long found that old poisoner of yours displeasing. Besides, this Sanctuary has been guarded by our Changsheng Hall since ancient times. When did it become your Wandu Sect’s turn? Don’t think everyone in your sect is blind and can’t see that you want to seize Mingyuan for yourselves.”
As soon as he said this, the situation on the field suddenly changed. Among the six people attacking the burly man, two men and one woman simultaneously hesitated in their actions, revealing expressions of surprise as they turned to look at the Slim Man.
The burly man had been on the verge of collapse but seized this sudden opportunity to retreat two steps and catch his breath.
The Slim Man was furious; it seemed that his words struck a nerve. He erupted in rage and swung his weapon like a flurry of bright snowflakes toward the burly man while shouting, “Nonsense! Our Wandu Sect is united as one for the sake of the Holy Sect. This time it was your Changsheng Hall’s acting hall master Yuyangzi who invited us; otherwise, who would meddle in this matter? You’re spouting lies!”
Meng the Strong laughed loudly while fending off attacks from several remaining opponents as he retreated. He coldly replied, “You can fool others with that nonsense! That idiot Yuyangzi is as foolish as a pig; do you really think we can’t see through it? That old poisoner of yours must have seen what opportunity Reverend Qiu obtained from Mingyuan, and now he wants to imitate him while taking advantage of Mingyuan, which was opened by Reverend Qiu, intending to steal its power to achieve great magic and ascend to become Sect Master to unify the Holy Sect!”
The Slim Man scoffed but seemed intent on explaining himself to those around him; he still spoke coldly, “Utter nonsense! Who doesn’t know that entering Mingyuan requires immense fortune? We Wandu Sect are merely fulfilling Reverend Qiu’s last wishes by assisting Changsheng Hall. And you keep slandering our Sect Master—how exactly do you think we can steal power from Mingyuan, and what have we done?”
For a moment, Meng the Strong was speechless; he didn’t seem to fully understand either. However, he shook his head and said, “I’ve been opposing that old poisoner for over ten years now; I can tell when he’s up to something just by his movements. This time he must have some scheme in mind. In any case, I absolutely refuse to stand by and watch you wreak havoc in the Sanctuary.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Slim Man burst into laughter and said loudly to the people around him, "Everyone, there's no need for me to elaborate on the current situation. This fellow is merely speaking ill of us out of old grievances with our leader, trying to disrupt the peace of Holy Sect. It's truly despicable."
The three individuals—two men and one woman—who had previously held back exchanged glances and slowly nodded. Clearly, this big man could not provide any evidence and was merely speculating, making it impossible for everyone to believe him.
One of the women spoke up, "That's right. Moreover, the Yuyang Sect Leader from Changsheng Hall personally expelled this fellow from their ranks. It seems they also despise his nonsense."
With their minds made up, everyone immediately surrounded him again, launching a renewed wave of attacks.
Although Meng the Strong tried his best to resist, he was ultimately outnumbered. Soon he was injured and forced to retreat repeatedly, looking as if he would collapse at any moment.

Tian Buyi hid behind Dune, his mind racing. The recent internal conflict among the members of the Demon Cult seemed to involve a significant secret related to something called Mingyuan, but he wasn't quite sure what that was.
However, judging by the expressions and words of these cult members, it was evident that this thing was extremely important. Furthermore, it might be related to the rebirth of the Demon Cult Leader and the resurgence of the cult's power. Historically, whenever the Demon Cult thrived and invaded Middle-earth, there were always outstanding talents unifying the cult. In other words, if the Demon Cult were fragmented, its strength would naturally weaken and cease to pose a threat to Lower Mortal Beings.
From this perspective, it seemed that Mingyuan held an extremely crucial position in all of this. Tian Buyi gritted his teeth, thinking that he could not let this matter go; he had to save that big man first and then extract some information from him.
Resolute in his decision, he prepared to leap into action. However, at that moment, a hand suddenly reached from behind and pressed down on his shoulder, forcefully pushing Tian Buyi back down to the ground.
Startled, Tian Buyi turned his head abruptly while one hand instinctively reached for Crimson Flame Sword to strike back. But after a moment, he caught a glimpse of a figure in white—Ten Thousand Swords in One—suddenly appearing behind him.
Tian Buyi's body jerked as he suppressed his movement. The force was so strong that it caused the sand beneath him to shift and create a shallow pit.
The two exchanged glances; Tian Buyi let out a sigh of relief and then whispered, "Wan Shixiong, why are you here?"
Ten Thousand Swords in One crouched beside Tian Buyi and replied, "With such commotion, how could I not hear it?"
Tian Buyi instinctively glanced behind Ten Thousand Swords in One but found that beneath Dune was eerily quiet. Aside from Ten Thousand Swords in One and himself, there were no other figures present. Was it only Wan Shixiong and himself who noticed this disturbance? Although it wasn't anything major—his other three fellow disciples might have simply been resting—Tian Buyi still felt a surge of delight.
Since Ten Thousand Swords in One had arrived, he would naturally take charge. Tian Buyi briefly recounted what he had overheard regarding Mingyuan to Ten Thousand Swords in One and then suggested, "Wan Shixiong, since Mingyuan sounds significant, why don't we rescue that big man first and then inquire further?"
At this moment, the sounds of fighting beneath Dune had become quite urgent, indicating that the battle was nearing its end. Meng the Strong was desperately resisting the siege of six people, even risking his life to injure Slim Man. However, he was now exhausted and being pushed back by the remaining five, on the verge of being overwhelmed and facing death.
Ten Thousand Swords in One glanced down and immediately made a decisive decision, saying in a deep voice, “You handle those five; I will go save that big man.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Tian Buyi saw a flash of white and Ten Thousand Swords in One had already darted out like lightning.
Tian Buyi admired him in his heart and quickly followed suit. With a loud shout, he startled everyone below. The movements of the members of the Demon Sect slowed down, allowing Ten Thousand Swords in One and Tian Buyi to charge straight in.
With a flicker of green light, the Dragon Slayer Sword in Ten Thousand Swords in One's hand surged forward like a dragon soaring through the sky, instantly transforming into a vast ocean with towering waves. Although it was just one sword, it seemed to block out the sun, encircling everyone on that side, including the injured Slim Man. The might and grandeur of this sword were truly astonishing.
The six members of the Demon Sect shouted in anger, their emotions a mix of shock and fury. However, under the pressure of the Dragon Slayer Sword, they had no choice but to retreat. Meanwhile, Tian Buyi had already rushed to Meng the Strong's side.
Seeing the sudden change in circumstances with these two experts appearing, the big man was both surprised and suspicious. Unable to discern friend from foe at that moment, he still managed to muster his strength to raise his blade towards Tian Buyi, shouting, “Who are you…”
Before he could finish speaking, Tian Buyi ignored him entirely and swung down the Crimson Flame Sword. With a clang, flames erupted as he knocked the big man's blade away. Following that, Tian Buyi dashed to the big man's side. Although the big man appeared to be a head taller than him, Tian Buyi executed a kick, a grab, and a throw. These seemingly simple moves rendered the already exhausted big man powerless to resist as he was lifted and slammed onto the ground, unable to move.
On the other side, Ten Thousand Swords in One, facing six opponents alone, found himself in a situation completely reversed from when the members of the Demon Sect were fighting among themselves.
He moved with grace and agility, playing with these six opponents as if they were mere toys. The Dragon Slayer Sword gleamed with green light, accentuating his figure as he moved effortlessly. In no time at all, he managed to subdue all six opponents one by one and threw them onto the ground.
