The Legend of the Immortals Prequel: Wilderness Journey
At this moment, Chengzi was like a demon, howling and laughing maniacally, as if he had burst forth from the underworld, his eyes filled only with the intent to kill, devoid of any humanity.
Dao Xuan and Ten Thousand Swords in One were forced to retreat repeatedly, and before long, they were both injured, blood streaming from their wounds, the color of which had turned black.
The situation had reached a critical point; it seemed that the two would soon be killed by Chengzi. Chengzi laughed wildly in triumph and suddenly kicked Ten Thousand Swords in One away. Then he reached out, and his arm unexpectedly stretched more than twice its length, directly grabbing Dao Xuan by the neck and dragging him over.
Ten Thousand Swords in One, suspended in mid-air, watched as Dao Xuan's face contorted in pain, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. Unable to contain his rage, he let out a roar and swung his Dragon Slayer Sword down heavily towards the ground, using the force to rebound back. However, at the same time, his body was violently shaken, several ribs cracking from the terrifying impact.
Yet even though he moved quickly, he could not catch up to Chengzi's ghostly movements. As he saw the dark energy spreading across Dao Xuan's face, it seemed he would die at Chengzi's hands at any moment. In this critical moment, Dao Xuan suddenly twisted his body with great difficulty and reached behind him. He then pulled out an unremarkable-looking ancient stone sword from beneath his robe and thrust it towards Chengzi.
Initially dismissive, Chengzi continued to grin as he intended to twist off Dao Xuan's head. However, moments later, his expression changed drastically; he roared in anger and immediately let go, trying to distance himself from Dao Xuan.
Ten Thousand Swords in One was horrified in mid-air because that ordinary ancient sword was none other than the treasured Zhuxian Sword, the prized possession of the Azure Cloud Sect.
This ancient sword had only appeared once during the Azure Cloud Mountain Righteous and Demonic War, after which it was put away. It was quickly returned to the Illusory Moon Cave after being taken by Chengzi Zhenren. Who would have thought it would suddenly reappear here today? The implications sent chills down one’s spine.
Chengzi seemed greatly afraid of this Zhuxian Sword. Amidst his roar, he immediately retreated. However, after loosening his grip on Dao Xuan, there was no sign of retreat or respite; instead, he charged forward. The sword's momentum swept across without any sword light or brilliance; it was as if an ordinary stone sword passed by. Before Chengzi could evade, this stone sword swept across his waist.
Silent and without a sound, yet Chengzi suddenly looked up and let out a terrifying and mournful scream before reaching out to throw something.
Injured as he was, Dao Xuan did not even retrieve the Zhuxian Sword, instead being directly sent flying. At the same time, the Zhuxian Sword fell from his hand with a loud clang as it hit the ground.
Chengzi glared fiercely at Dao Xuan with two eerie eyes, sneering as he approached him, and shouted sharply, "Rebellious disciple! Do you still dare to claim you are not trying to harm me? The Illusory Moon Cave has only allowed the Sect Leader to enter since ancient times. You trespassed into the forbidden area and stole the divine sword; if it’s not to kill me and usurp my position as Sect Leader, then what is your purpose?"
Dao Xuan writhed painfully on the ground, but a grim smile appeared on his face as he looked at Chengzi, who was getting closer. He said, "Master, you have fallen too deeply into madness and can no longer turn back. If this matter is exposed, the thousand-year reputation of our Azure Cloud Sect will be ruined in an instant. I only wish to perish together with you."
Chengzi roared angrily, grinning maliciously, "Dream on! First, I will kill you two rebellious disciples, then go on a rampage in the front mountain. Once my Xuan Yin Ghost Qi gathers enough yin souls and my great work is complete, I will let you hypocrites..."
Before he could finish speaking, Dao Xuan suddenly twisted his body and sprang up from the ground, charging straight at him with an appearance that truly seemed reckless and intent on perishing together.
Chengzi struck down with his palm; before his hand reached its target, a massive ghostly claw had already formed in the air and plunged directly into Dao Xuan's back!
Dao Xuan trembled violently all over, but he gritted his teeth and suddenly let out a low roar. Instead of retreating, he surged forward into Chengzi's embrace, tightly wrapping his arms around Chengzi's waist and then shouted loudly, "Junior Brother!"
At that moment, Ten Thousand Swords in One, who had just landed on the ground, suddenly heard this extremely mournful cry and trembled all over.
Chengzi roared repeatedly as he struck Dao Xuan's back forcefully. However, Dao Xuan, seemingly mad with rage, locked onto his master’s body tightly to prevent him from using that ghostly-like movement technique again. Then he hoarsely shouted once more, "Junior Brother..."
Ten Thousand Swords in One took a step forward but suddenly trembled all over upon seeing Chengzi's familiar silhouette. With a clang, the Dragon Slayer Sword in his hand fell to the ground.
Despite several struggles and strikes from Chengzi, he still could not shake off Dao Xuan. Anger surged within him as he let out a roar like a ferocious beast and suddenly grabbed hold of Dao Xuan's head and neck, intending to tear him apart.
The wind howled fiercely, darkness surged like waves. Dao Xuan widened his eyes, gripping tightly onto his master's back; even in death, he seemed unwilling to let go. Just then, a muffled sound suddenly came from Chengzi.
A sword tip pierced through Chengzi's chest; it was the ancient stone sword that had gone through his torso. Behind him, Ten Thousand Swords in One, holding the Zhu Xian Ancient Sword, trembled with what remained of his hand before slowly loosening his fingers.
The ancient blade was plunged into Chengzi's chest, and then a faint light began to emanate from the sword's body. Countless dark entities wailed together from this body, only to be ruthlessly squeezed out.
The light grew brighter, and the darkness gradually retreated, terrified and screaming, until it completely dissipated under the unstoppable radiance...
Chengzi stood at the very center of the brilliance, as still as wood, slowly glancing at the sword tip protruding from his chest before gently closing his eyes.
Moments later, all the light suddenly converged, retracting back into the Zhu Xian Ancient Sword, which returned to its ordinary and ancient appearance. Chengzi's body swayed twice before tilting to the side and collapsing to the ground with a thud.
In Qiu Wangyu's grand hall, there was a serene silence. A flicker of candlelight still quietly burned, illuminating the black spirit tablets, as if the ancient ancestors of the Azure Cloud Sect were silently watching this tragedy unfold.
Dao Xuan and Ten Thousand Swords in One's gazes remained fixed on the fallen figure throughout.
That person was their master, the one who had raised them and imparted knowledge and skills; he was someone they regarded as a father.
Now, they had killed him with their own hands...
Dao Xuan's face was as pale as paper, sitting dazed on the ground, while on the other side, Ten Thousand Swords in One slowly knelt down, his facial muscles contorted with pain and regret, silently uttering incomprehensible words as tears streamed down his face...
