Zhao Ziyang stepped up to the free throw line, dribbled the ball twice, took a deep breath, and made the shot. After completing the free throw, Zhao Ziyang ran back to the defense with a strange smile on his face. After we inbounded the ball, Zhongqi Senior dribbled to the front court and suddenly took a shot from the 45-degree angle beyond the three-point line, but missed badly. It was clear that Zhongqi Senior was too eager with that shot.
After grabbing the rebound, Bing Ge quickly went for a layup, drawing a defensive foul from Lu Lei. Bing Ge stood at the free throw line and made one out of two attempts. With less than a minute left in the game, Liang Yuhao passed the ball to Zhao Ziyang and then ran forward. As Zhao Ziyang crossed half court, he suddenly made a bounce pass to Zhou Mingliang, who had just cut into the paint. Zhou Mingliang executed a hook shot reminiscent of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and scored. We quickly inbounded the ball and controlled it slowly. Suddenly, Zhongqi Senior made a cut and received a pass from Zhang Jun, who was waiting in the paint. As Zhang Jun went for a layup, Lu Lei raised his arms in preparation to block. However, Zhang Jun abruptly stopped his raised hand and drifted from the right side of the basket to the left, making an over-the-shoulder shot! The usually low-key Zhang Jun exploded with this play. With eighteen seconds left in the second quarter, Sangyue had possession. After running down the clock, Zhao Ziyang attempted a three-pointer but missed. The first half ended with a score of 44-50; we were outscored by Sangyue by eleven points in that quarter!
"It looks like our opponents are going all out now!" said Teacher Qiu. "They will definitely want to build on this momentum in the third quarter. Everyone needs to stay calm; their strength has been significantly weakened by Sun Yi's absence. In the third quarter, focus our defense on the perimeter and our offense inside. It seemed that Sangyue wanted to play fast now. After receiving an inbound pass from Zhao Ziyang, he quickly passed it to Roger Tiger. Our slow reaction allowed him to slip into the paint like a fish and score easily. While I was angry about that play, I couldn’t help but notice some resemblance to Fisher's style.
With thirty seconds left in the third quarter and our possession, Zhongqi Senior passed it to me while running towards zero-degree angle territory; he seemed ready for a three-pointer at any moment. Just then, as I passed it to him while he was cutting through from near the paint, he received it but was blocked by Lu Lei. The ball went to Liang Yuhao, who quickly passed it back to their frontcourt-bound "fish," which was none other than Roger Tiger. He dashed straight for another layup! With eight seconds remaining before ending third quarter play, we quickly inbounded again; however, when attempting another three-pointer from beyond arc by running towards top of key with no success.
The third quarter concluded with us trailing 67-74 after losing another point during this period.
After returning from halftime, there was tension in Coach Qiu’s voice: “How could you let their 1.81m tall player like Roger Tiger easily penetrate our paint!” We hung our heads in silence. “If this continues, we’ll be overturned! Our team felt invigorated by Coach Qiu’s encouragement as we walked onto court with serious expressions; this fourth quarter would be crucial! If we couldn’t close this gap or risk losing again after fighting so hard last match at home court victory would be wasted effort! Their lineup remained unchanged from third quarter as they began play again with possession going back over to them; after receiving an inbound pass,Zhao Ziyang organized their offense while slowing down pace of game.
Facing off against defense by both me and my teammate,Zhongqi Senior, he executed an impressive 360-degree spin move leaving him behind before leaping into paint for shot attempt! I rushed over leaping high with my right hand raised aiming towards basketball—my only thought being not allowing him any chance at scoring! All I heard was “smack!” as I actually managed blocking his shot right into hands of my teammate,Zhongqi Senior! He made long pass towards,A Fei, who dashed into paint avoiding pursuit from,Liang Yuhao, calmly scoring afterwards.
Their team quickly inbounded again… We fought fiercely back-and-forth exhausting every ounce of energy striving towards securing coveted spot within top four teams—only three minutes remained on clock while trailing 75-79 by four points! With possession now belonging us,Zhongqi Senior faced off against,Zhao Ziyang. They stood locked in confrontation until suddenly,Zhao Ziyang lunged forward attempting steal! In response,Zhongqi Senior switched ball from right hand behind back passing directly towards me—I caught it then faked shooting beyond arc before tossing inside where,Bing Ge, jumped up dunking it home! We were only down two points now!
We could see glimmer of victory ahead!
Taking over home court advantage against,Sangyue, wasn’t merely dream anymore!
At that moment,Sangyue High School’s gymnasium began filling up with students likely released early from classes—basketball atmosphere here felt lively as many fans cheered loudly supporting their team during final two-and-a-half minutes left within game! With only two-point difference remaining between both teams’ scores—who would emerge victorious depended solely upon last few moments played out!
As time ticked down,Zhao Ziyang controlled ball draining clock until only six seconds remained before suddenly cutting inside passing off towards waiting teammate,Lu Lei. Instead of charging straight toward basket like expected—he opted instead executing signature hook shot which spun gracefully through air hitting backboard perfectly scoring once again—seemingly learned true skills directly from Kareem himself!

As everyone focused intently upon how he’d penetrate inside or attempt long-range shot—he unexpectedly launched high toss upwards—a gamble indeed! Scoreboard read now 77-79—with just under one-and-a-half minutes remaining until final buzzer sounded neither team called timeout yet.Zhao Ziyang swiftly pushed forward launching immediate attack reaching just half meter shy beyond arc releasing shot hitting rim hard missing entirely!
