I suddenly felt a surge of jealousy. "Is Xie Zhinan the one who pursued you back in Junior High School?" I asked her. "Yes, that's the one. He had that ugly watermelon haircut and was quite short back then. I never expected him to change so much; now he's tall and handsome. I think he might even be taller than you," Xia Ying replied. I admitted I was being petty and simply said "bye" before hanging up. Later, Xia Ying called me two or three more times, but I didn't answer. After a while, she sent me a text message, and when I opened it, it read: "Don't contact me anymore!" Hey! So that's how it is, huh? Fine, if she doesn't want to talk, then I won't. 0

After a while, I couldn't help but call Xia Ying to try to cheer her up, but after dialing five or six times with no answer, it seemed she was really angry. My mood also sank. I looked at my phone; it was already past eight in the evening. A Fei was lying on the bed seriously reading a book called "Ghost Blows Out the Light," while Jiang Lingfeng was doing sit-ups on his bed. Because of the argument with Xia Ying, I felt restless and bored. I decided to step outside for some fresh air and to see the beautiful night view of Beijing. I turned back to A Fei and the others and said, "I'm going out for a bit; I'll be back soon." A Fei looked up and said, "But it's already quite late; do you want me to go with you?" He sat up quickly. I waved my hand to signal him to sit down. "No need, you guys continue; I'm not a child anymore. I'll just take a stroll and come back soon; I'm feeling a bit troubled." "A Fei laughed, 'What could a teenager like you possibly be troubled about?'” I pouted at him and walked out the door. 0

Walking down the street amidst the bright lights of the city, I felt an inexplicable sense of desolation. This feeling was something I'd never experienced before; it was as if I'd suddenly grown up a lot. Before coming to Beijing, I had a relaxed mindset of "just being able to come to Beijing is enough," but ever since we won our first group match, that mindset had turned into a heavy pressure. I couldn't imagine what would happen if we got eliminated. My purpose for coming to Beijing had shifted from just enjoying a trip to aiming for the North China Champion. Now I realized that my true mission in this trip was not just for leisure but to lead our Dream Chasers towards victory. Perhaps this is what they call responsibility. 0

Before I knew it, I had arrived at that park. The park at night was beautiful, like a fairy tale wonderland. I walked in and sat down on a bench, staring blankly into the distance when suddenly I was startled awake by a shy voice saying, "Classmate..." Turning around, I was momentarily flustered: it was the girl from the restaurant with big eyes. She had fresh-looking bangs and wore a white short-sleeve shirt paired with a pink vest, along with blue shorts and yellow canvas shoes that made her look innocent and sweet. "Are you here to have fun too?" she asked with a smile as she sat down on the other side of the bench. "Is that restaurant your family's?" I asked her. The girl shyly smiled and replied, "No, I'm working there as a summer job to earn tuition and help my family." 0

"Really?!" I exclaimed in surprise; I didn't expect this shy girl would give up her summer break to work as a waitress! She nodded slightly at my astonished expression: "Yes, my family is in Xidan. My dad and mom are divorced; later my dad married someone I've never met before. I'm living with my mom." "So... does your dad not take care of you and your mom?" I asked her. 0

The girl shook her head: "No, my dad wants me to live with them too, but I don't want to live with that woman; I want to stay with my mom." Her tone became slightly agitated as some resentment flickered in her eyes. "I'm sorry; I shouldn't have asked..." I felt awkward saying this. "It's okay! By the way, thank you for helping me out at the restaurant; I'm Wang Yaqian, but you can call me Ya. Nice to meet you!" She extended her right hand toward me with a sweet smile. "I'm Xiang Jie, just call me Jie," I replied with a smile as we shook hands tightly together. When our hands touched, my heart raced and my face flushed red. Ya asked me: "By your accent, you're not from Beijing, right?" 0

"Yeah, I'm not from Beijing; we're neighbors though! I'm from Cangzhou in Hebei Province. I'm here as the champion of Cangzhou City for the competition in Beijing—the finals of the North China Region, which is part of the National Street Basketball Championship," I explained to her. "Street Basketball Championship? Is that the one with that big banner on the street for the National Street Basketball Championship?! Wow! You guys are Cangzhou City champions! What's your team name? You all look pretty young..." The girl seemed surprised. 0

"Our team name is Dream Chasers. We're about the same age; I'm also in high school! As for how we became city champions... it feels like a dream!" I scratched my head sheepishly as I answered her with a grin. "Haha! Just players! Alright then, Dream Chasers, I've got to head back now; see you!" She turned around and left, and as she did so, I caught a faint scent of perfume wafting through the air. Watching her gradually fade away into the distance made me suddenly remember something; calling out after her retreating figure: “Hey! Ya! Wait a minute!” Running after her, Ya turned around with her big watery eyes looking confusedly at me as I reached her breathlessly: “Ya! Note down my QQ number 57170... Aoxue Kuangdao; make sure to add me!” After she noted it down, she left while I stood there dazedly reminiscing about our encounter—completely forgetting about Xia Ying. At this moment, only one name filled my mind: Wang Yaqian. 0
