After leaving the private room, I saw two drunken young men grabbing Ya's arm and leering at her. The hotel manager and another waiter were trying to coax them with smiles. I slowly walked over and heard one of the young men say, "Sister, come have a drink with your brother." The two young men were just over twenty, their faces flushed from drinking. Ya was desperately trying to break free, pleading, "Please let me go." Tears were already welling up in her anxious eyes. I felt my blood boiling, and I clenched my fists, wanting to rush over. Suddenly, I felt someone grab my shoulder. I turned around and saw Ling Feng Senior. "I can't just stand by while my friend is being bullied; I have to save her!" 0

"Jie, don't cause trouble. They are just drunk and acting foolishly; we don't have to solve this with fists. Just watch me," Jiang Lingfeng said as he walked over, and I followed behind. 0

"Excuse me, gentlemen, could you please let go of this girl? She's our friend," Jiang Lingfeng said politely. The two young men looked at him disdainfully and one of them replied, "Oh! Buddy, you want to play the hero, huh? You should take a look in the mirror first; do you even look like a hero? Just stay where it's comfortable." Jiang Lingfeng tried to say something else but I pulled him behind me. "Jie, help me..." Ya looked at me with hopeful eyes and said, "Brothers, she is my girlfriend; please show some respect." I suppressed my anger and said, "Get lost! What the hell! Kid, don't go looking for trouble." The skinny young man retorted. 0

"Let her go!" I warned him. Unexpectedly, the young man picked up a bottle and threw it at my head. I felt a sharp pain on top of my head and then warmth trickling down my face. "Ah!" Ya screamed in shock. "Jie, are you okay? Let's go to the hospital!" Jiang Lingfeng nervously supported me as I gestured for him to wait a moment. "Can you let her go now?" My whole body trembled as the young man who hit me seemed to sober up suddenly. "This time I'll let it slide!" he said as he dragged his companion away. 0

"Stop right there!" Jiang Lingfeng shouted as he chased after them. "Ling Feng Senior, don't chase them," I called out. Jiang Lingfeng turned back, gritting his teeth as he sighed and returned to me. "Jie, does it hurt? Let's go to the hospital for a bandage; I'll accompany you..." Ya finally reacted and anxiously helped support me. 0

"What happened? Jie, what’s going on?" Shuai Dong and the others rushed out in surprise when they saw me. "Who did this?!" A Fei asked in a low voice; his calm tone was frightening. "No one; I did it to myself. Come on, take me to the hospital; it hurts like hell." Only then did I feel dizzy and crouched down holding my head. 0

"I know there's a clinic nearby; kid, I'll cover your medical expenses today, and I'll also pay for your meal," the manager said. "Alright, uncle, stop talking; let's hurry up." 0

After getting bandaged at the clinic, we came out relieved that it was just an external injury. If that smart head of mine had been damaged, it would have been a great tragedy of the century! After stepping out, we returned to the hotel’s private room to sit down; we still needed to eat lunch. The manager served us a table full of delicious dishes. After all that commotion during lunch, we were starving and quickly filled our stomachs before preparing to leave. 0

"Jie!" Just as we stepped out of the hotel door, Ya chased after us. We both turned back simultaneously. "What's wrong, Ya?" I asked her with a smile. She hesitated before saying to me, "Thank... thank you..." Then she looked at me with her clear big eyes. At that moment, I felt my heart almost leap out of my chest. I forced myself to smile calmly: "It's nothing; we're friends after all." Ya shyly showed me a grateful smile that made my heart race even more; it reminded me of Sha Xiaomei's smile when we first met—Xia Ying had smiled like that too—but Ya's smile had its own unique charm that was hard to forget. 0

As we walked along the road, Shuai Dong suddenly said to me, "Jie, why didn’t you call us earlier? There are five of us! You got hurt because of them! Ling Feng Senior didn’t help either?" Shuai Dong suddenly turned his attention towards Jiang Lingfeng again. 0

"Alright, alright; it's all over now; I stopped Ling Feng Senior from getting involved," I said. 0

"What?! Are you crazy?! You can’t just take hits without fighting back! Isn’t that asking for trouble?" Shuai Dong got agitated while I ignored him and walked ahead. 0

After arriving at the inn, I slowly lay down on the bed feeling my head throb painfully. Jiang Lingfeng and A Fei repeatedly asked if I felt any different; I waved my hand indicating that I was fine. Lying on the bed involuntarily made me ponder: Is it worth getting hurt for a girl I've just met? Sigh! Never mind; at least getting hit by that bottle was worth it. 0

I took out my phone and logged onto QQ; I saw Xia Ying online and realized we hadn’t talked all day. I sent her a message: “Cookie, what are you doing?” But she logged off immediately. I shook my head helplessly; it seemed Xia Ying was still mad at me. Just then, Ya sent me a message: “Jie, are you okay? Does your head still hurt?” We had just seen each other three hours ago and now she was checking on me? I jokingly replied: “I’m fine; anyway, I'm not dying for at least another hundred years—who knows after that.” 0

Ya replied: “Haha! You only know how to joke around! But today you were really brave; I didn’t expect you would do that for me…” 0

“For you? Wasn’t it risking my life? Did it make you cry?” I teased her. 0
