Xuan Yang felt a powerful force surge into his body, like a volcano erupting, unstoppable and overwhelming. This force roared and surged within him, as if it wanted to tear him apart. He gritted his teeth, striving to control this raging power, refusing to let it spiral out of control.
His hair turned silver-white, shining like moonlight, casting a faint glow in the dim cave. His eyes transformed into a brilliant gold, dazzling like the sun, seemingly capable of piercing through all darkness. His skin became as translucent as jade, radiating a soft light, resembling a deity descended from the heavens.
He clenched his fists, feeling an unprecedented strength coursing through him, filled with confidence and ambition. He knew that his adventure was just beginning; the road ahead was fraught with unknown challenges and dangers, but he was unafraid because he possessed the power to confront anything.
"What kind of challenges await me in the second level of the Abyss?" Xuan Yang pondered eagerly. He craved challenges, yearned for battle, and longed to break through himself in adversity, becoming even stronger.
Suddenly, a deafening roar echoed from the cave's ceiling, like a mountain collapsing and the earth splitting apart, causing Xuan Yang's eardrums to buzz. Massive rocks fell from above like meteorites, producing a thunderous crash that reverberated throughout the cave.
Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan quickly dodged as rocks smashed onto the ground with tremendous force, causing violent tremors as if an earthquake had struck. Debris flew everywhere, dust filled the air, and chaos engulfed the entire cave.
"What’s happening?" Xuan Yang exclaimed in shock as he looked up. He saw a massive crack appear at the top of the cave, from which fierce flames erupted like a volcanic explosion. The firelight illuminated the entire cave in a crimson glow. A scorching wave of heat rushed toward him, threatening to consume everything in its path.
"This is bad; it's magma!" Lu Zhiyuan's face turned pale as he cried out. His voice was filled with fear and despair, as if he were witnessing the end of the world.
The magma poured down from the crack like a fiery dragon, sweeping toward Xuan Yang and Lu Zhiyuan. The intense heat radiating from it seemed capable of melting everything away.
"Run!" Xuan Yang shouted as he grabbed Lu Zhiyuan and dashed away. He knew they had to escape quickly; otherwise, they would be engulfed by the magma and turned to ash.
They ran desperately, dodging falling rocks and surging magma as if fleeing through a sea of fire, facing peril at every turn. Behind them, the magma pursued relentlessly like a relentless predator intent on devouring them whole.
The magma moved with incredible speed, catching up to them in an instant. The scorching heat drew closer; Xuan Yang could even feel its searing warmth.
A sense of dread filled Xuan Yang's heart; he realized they had nowhere left to run. The path ahead was blocked by magma while behind them loomed the relentless flow closing in on them—they were trapped.
"Damn it! We have to fight!" Xuan Yang gritted his teeth resolutely. He knew they couldn't just sit back and wait for their doom; they had to take desperate measures if they wanted to survive.
He summoned his inner strength and controlled Shadow Puppets to attack the magma. Countless Shadow Puppets surged toward the molten flow like a tide, attempting to halt its advance.
However, as soon as Shadow Puppets made contact with the magma, they melted instantly like ice meeting fire—utterly powerless. Yet Xuan Yang did not give up; he continued directing Shadow Puppets forward into the magma again and again, trying to compensate for their weakness in numbers.
"It’s useless; your Shadow Puppets can’t withstand the magma's erosion," a voice echoed in Xuan Yang's mind with mockery and derision. "If you want to survive, you must find another way."
This voice was ghostly and elusive; Xuan Yang could not discern its source. A chill ran down his spine as he realized this voice belonged to the guardian of the Abyss.
"What do you want from me?" Xuan Yang gritted his teeth, filled with anger and frustration. He felt like a mouse toyed with in someone's hands, at their mercy.
"Very simple, defeat me, and you can pass the second trial," the voice echoed again, laced with a hint of provocation.
"Show yourself!" Xuan Yang shouted. He wanted to confront this mysterious figure hiding in the shadows and face him in a fair fight.
"Hehe, I am right in front of you, yet you cannot see me," the voice replied, like a ghostly whisper that sent chills down his spine.
Xuan Yang scanned his surroundings but found no source for the voice. This only fueled his anger and anxiety, making him feel like a fool being led in circles.
"Who are you?" Xuan Yang asked again, his tone tinged with helplessness and urgency.
"I am the Guardian of this Abyss, and I am your Trialist," the voice responded once more, carrying an air of mystery and authority. "To pass the trial, you must prove your strength."
"How do I prove it?" Xuan Yang inquired.
"Very simple, defeat me," the voice reiterated, its tone unwavering and firm.
"Fine, I accept your challenge!" Xuan Yang clenched his teeth, determination surging within him. He knew this was a fight for survival; he had to give it his all to have any chance of living through it.
Suddenly, a massive fireball appeared in the center of the cave, blazing fiercely like a small sun, radiating intense heat. The temperature around surged dramatically, warping the air.
"This is my power; can you overcome it?" the voice taunted again.
Xuan Yang stared at the fireball, feeling immense pressure. He understood that this would be a tough battle.
Taking a deep breath, he summoned his inner strength and controlled the Shadow Puppet to launch an attack on the fireball.
The Shadow Puppet surged toward the fireball like a tide, attempting to extinguish it. But the fireball's temperature was too high; as soon as the Shadow Puppet made contact, it was instantly incinerated, dissipating into a wisp of black smoke in the air.
"Useless; your Shadow Puppet cannot withstand the flames' onslaught," the voice mocked with derision. "To defeat me, you must find another way."
Xuan Yang furrowed his brow; he knew he had to devise a strategy to conquer the fireball.
He carefully observed the fireball, searching for its weakness, his gaze sharp as that of a hawk.
Suddenly, he noticed a black core at the center of the fireball, resembling a black hole, emanating mysterious power.
“Could this… be its weakness?” Xuan Yang's heart stirred, as if he had grasped a lifeline.
He manipulated the Shadow Puppets, surrounding the fireball completely, then fused all the Shadow Puppets together to form a massive black vortex.
The black vortex spun, drawing the fireball into it like a black hole devouring everything, unstoppable in its force.
The fireball shrank in size until it vanished completely, transforming into a wisp of black smoke that dissipated into the air.
“You… actually defeated my flames.” The voice echoed again, laced with surprise and disbelief. “Who… are you?”
Xuan Yang stood still, breathing heavily. He knew he had finally passed the second trial.
“I am Xuan Yang, the reincarnation of the Puppet Master,” he declared, his tone filled with confidence and determination.
“The Puppet Master…” The voice responded once more, tinged with confusion and disbelief. “Could it be… that the prophecy is true?”
Suddenly, a loud crash echoed from above in the cave, and a massive crack appeared before Xuan Yang…
