In the hall of the Magic Castle, the lights were soft, and the candle flames flickered, filling the air with a faint hint of magic.
Luna nestled in Aelia's embrace, both of their faces radiating a rare warmth.
However, a flicker of elusive unease crossed Luna's eyes.
"Mom, don't you think everything... seems too smooth?" Luna asked softly, her gaze scanning the crowd as if searching for something.
Aelia paused, sensing Luna's unusual demeanor, a wave of worry washing over her.
"What’s wrong, Luna?" she gently caressed Luna's small face and asked softly.
Luna furrowed her brow, her eyes sweeping across the hall before finally settling on a corner.
"Mom, don’t you feel like something is missing?" she said quietly, uncertainty lacing her voice.
Following Luna's gaze, Aelia looked over to the corner of the hall, which was empty—usually occupied by Leonard's presence.
A heaviness settled in her heart; years of love and trust felt precarious in that moment.
"You... you mean your father?" Aelia's voice trembled as disbelief washed over her.
Luna nodded. "Mom, I know..." She took a deep breath and continued, "I know Uncle Leonard actually has Leonard's Concubine."
Aelia's complexion instantly paled, as if doused with cold water.
"What did you say?" she asked in a trembling voice, anger and despair creeping into her tone.
"Mom, I learned from books that Uncle Leonard does have Leonard's Concubine; he has been deceiving you." Though Luna's voice was still innocent, each word cut into Aelia's heart like a sharp knife.
Aelia's body trembled slightly, her tears swirling in her eye sockets, yet they never fell.
She stared blankly at Luna, as if searching for one last glimmer of hope.
"Are you sure? Did you make a mistake?" Her voice carried a hint of desperation.
Luna shook her head, speaking firmly, "Mom, I’m not wrong. The book states clearly that Uncle Leonard not only has Leonard's Concubine but is also secretly plotting to seize control of the Glorious Demon Fortress."
Aelia's heart felt as if it had been struck by a massive iron hammer, and she sensed the entire world around her shaking.
Years of love crumbled in an instant, and she fell into an endless abyss.
She bit her lip tightly, struggling to suppress the pain within, but tears could not help but roll down her cheeks.
"Mom..." Luna called softly, her heart filled with guilt and sorrow for Aelia.
Aelia pulled Luna into a tight embrace, tears flowing like beads from a broken string.
"My dear daughter, how can you be so clever?" she choked out, her voice filled with love and helplessness.
At that moment, her older brother stepped forward from the crowd, a hint of pride and gratitude on his face.
"Thank you, sister," he said gently, patting Luna's thin shoulders, his eyes sparkling with appreciation. "It’s because of your efforts that I was able to break free from the curse of Magic Backlash and regain my glory."
Luna looked up at her brother, "Brother, I... I’m so happy." She smiled faintly, as if all her fatigue had vanished into thin air.
He nodded, his gaze filled with determination.
“From now on, I will work even harder to protect our family.” His words were filled with determination, as if he was declaring his beliefs to everyone.
Second Brother stepped forward, his eyes reflecting deep regret and gratitude.
“Luna, thank you.” His voice was sincere. “If it weren't for you, I might still be struggling in that terrible magical realm.”
Luna smiled gently and said, “Second Brother, that’s all in the past now. You’ve already picked yourself up, and that’s what matters most.” Her words were encouraging, as if she were offering Second Brother her unwavering support.
Second Brother nodded. “From now on, I will stand by you to protect our home.” As soon as he finished speaking, he tightly grasped Luna's small hand, as if he wanted to convey all his strength to her.
Brother San also approached from the back of the crowd, his eyes filled with deep realization.
“Luna, I want to thank you too.” His voice was earnest. “If it weren't for you, I might still be lost in my own talents, unable to escape.”
Luna smiled softly and replied, “Brother San, everyone has their own path to walk. Now that you've recognized your mistakes, this is the best beginning.” Her words were filled with encouragement, as if she were giving Brother San her strongest support.
Brother San nodded. “From now on, I will train harder and not let your expectations down.” His voice was resolute, as if he was proclaiming his beliefs to everyone.
Aelia watched everything unfold before her, her heart filled with gratitude and joy.
Her tears had finally stopped. She tightly embraced Luna, as if wanting to convey all her love to her.
“My daughter, you are truly amazing,” she said with a choked voice, filled with love and pride.
Luna nestled in Aelia's arms, a happy smile gracing her face.
She knew that all this effort had been worth it.
She not only changed her family's destiny but also earned a steadfast support and trust for herself.
However, at that moment, Aelia suddenly lifted her head, her gaze piercing through the crowd to the corner of the hall.
"Luna, have you noticed that Qin Si is missing?" she asked softly, a hint of worry in her voice.
Luna was taken aback; she immediately became aware that things were not as simple as they seemed.
A flicker of unease crossed her mind, but she resolutely looked at Aelia.
"Mom, let's go find Qin Si. She might have something important to tell us," she said quietly, her voice filled with determination.
Aelia nodded, her heart brimming with resolve.
She tightly grasped Luna's small hand and walked toward the corner of the hall.
Both of their hearts were filled with uncertainty and anticipation, as if waiting for the next mystery to unfold.
A wave of unease surged within Aelia. That girl, Qin Si, had always been by her side; now, at such a critical moment, she had vanished without a trace, which was truly concerning.
She tightened her grip on Luna's small hand, the soft touch seeming to provide her with endless strength.
"Let's go, Luna. We need to find Qin Si."
Luna's small face was tense, and she too felt an ominous sense of foreboding.
She knew that soon the Magic Castle would be engulfed in a storm of chaos; Qin Si's disappearance might just be the calm before the storm.
The mother and daughter wove through the crowd, the soft candlelight stretching their shadows long against the cold stone floor, creating an air of solitude.
In the hall, guests continued to clink glasses and exchange pleasantries, completely unaware of the undercurrents swirling around them.
“Qin Si!” Aelia called softly, her voice tinged with urgency.
In the vast hall, only their echoes reverberated back.
Suddenly, a faint sobbing sound drifted from a corner. Aelia and Luna exchanged a glance and hurried over.
There, they found Qin Si curled up alone in the corner, Lucius' thin shoulders trembling slightly, clearly having cried.
“Qin Si, what’s wrong?” Aelia asked gently as she helped her up, concern etched on her face.
Qin Si looked up, her eyes brimming with tears as she gazed at Aelia, choking back her words. “Madam, I… I’m so sorry!”
“Foolish girl, what are you saying? Please tell me what happened,” Aelia said softly as she wiped away the tears on her face, comforting her.
Taking a deep breath as if steeling herself, Qin Si whispered, “Madam, I… I saw Master… Master he…”
Before she could finish her sentence, a sudden voice interrupted them.
“Aelia, what are you doing here?”
Leonard's voice carried a hint of anger as it echoed from the entrance of the hall.
His expression was dark, eyes sharp like those of an enraged lion.
Aelia suddenly raised her head. "Leonard, how dare you ask me what I'm doing? You know very well what you've done!"
Leonard's expression darkened further as he quickly stepped in front of Aelia, lowering his voice. "Aelia, let me explain. It's not what you think..."
"Explain? What is there to explain?" Aelia scoffed, cutting him off.
"Luna has already told me about you and that woman outside, and everything you've been plotting in secret!"
Leonard's body trembled slightly, disbelief washing over him as he looked at Luna. He never expected that this little infant would become a stumbling block in his plans.
"Luna, what nonsense are you talking about?" Leonard snapped, trying to mask his unease.
Luna met his gaze fearlessly, her childish voice filled with strength.
"Uncle Leonard, I'm speaking the truth. You betrayed Mom; you want to take the Glorious Demon Fortress. These are your own words to me!"
"You..." Leonard shook with rage, wishing he could strangle the little girl right then and there.
"Enough!" Aelia's roar interrupted Leonard's defense.
"Leonard, I was truly blind to have believed you all these years! From today on, you are no longer the Lord of the Glorious Demon Fortress. I, Aelia, will sever all ties with you!"
"Aelia, you can't do this to me!" Leonard panicked. "I admit I was confused for a moment, but my love for you is real! Please give me another chance!"
"A chance? You have already betrayed our relationship; you don't deserve my forgiveness!"
The guests in the hall were stunned by this scene, halting their actions with mouths agape as they watched the sudden turn of events unfold.
At that moment, a clear voice emerged from the crowd.
"Mother, I support your decision!"
Lucius stepped forward confidently. "Leonard is no longer worthy of being the Lord of the Glorious Demon Fortress. I, Lucius, am willing to stand with you, Mother, to protect our homeland!"
Leonard looked at his son in disbelief. "Lucius, you too have betrayed me? Have you forgotten who raised you?"
Lucius sneered, speaking without mercy. "I haven't forgotten, but I can no longer tolerate your betrayal of Mother and the entire Glorious Demon Fortress! Father, you have disappointed me greatly!"
Luna watched the scene unfold before her and nodded inwardly.
Lucius was indeed a man who understood the times; he could make the right choice at a critical moment, living up to his role as an important character in the original story.
"Luna, may I follow you?"
A trembling voice suddenly reached Luna's ears.
She turned her head and saw Lucius looking at her with eager anticipation.
"I... I know I had some misunderstandings about you in the past, but now I understand that you are the one who can truly change Magic Castle. I am willing to serve you and help you face the crisis of Magic Castle!"
Luna smiled slightly; she had anticipated that Lucius would make such a choice.
After all, her displayed abilities had far exceeded those of an ordinary infant.
"Of course," Luna said softly. "However, I'm not so easily followed. If you want my recognition, you'll need to show your sincerity."
As soon as Luna's voice fell, a sudden scream echoed through the hall.
"Ah! Help!"
Everyone turned to see Qin Si, pale and trembling, pointing at the entrance of the hall.
"He... he's here! He's come for the lady!"
Aelia's face instantly turned pale as she spun around to look at the entrance.
A figure slowly walked in, tall and handsome, but his eyes were filled with madness and obsession.
"Aelia, you will not leave me!" he roared, his voice laced with threat.
The newcomer was none other than Leonard's Concubine, the woman hidden in the shadows.
She dared to invade the Glorious Demon Fortress; it seemed that a greater storm was about to unfold.
"Who are you? How dare you trespass into the Glorious Demon Fortress!" Aelia forced down her unease and shouted sternly.
The woman let out a cold laugh. "Who am I? I am Leonard's most beloved woman! Aelia, you've occupied his heart for so many years; it's time you made way for me!"
"You... you're insane!" Aelia trembled with anger.
"Insane? Hahaha!" The woman laughed maniacally.
"It’s you who drove me to madness! Aelia, today you will pay the price!"
The woman suddenly pulled a dagger from her bosom and lunged fiercely at Aelia.
"Mother, be careful!" Lucius exclaimed, rushing forward in an attempt to protect Aelia.
However, the woman's speed was astonishingly quick, and Lucius couldn't intervene in time.
At that critical moment, Luna moved unexpectedly.
With a gentle wave of her small hand, an invisible magical barrier appeared instantly in front of Aelia, blocking the woman's dagger.
"Bang!"
With a dull thud, the woman was repelled by the magical barrier and fell heavily to the ground.
"You... you can use magic?" The woman looked at Luna in disbelief.
Luna gazed coldly at her, her youthful voice filled with authority.
"I not only wield magic, but my magic is beyond your imagination in its power!"
Luna slowly lifted her head and looked toward the entrance of the hall.
"The real show has only just begun."
