Back at my seat, Xia Ying asked me how I felt. I felt great. Xia Ying smiled and said, "Aren't you happy we didn't take first place?" I replied, "But we won against them right in front of Thirteen Middle School!" Xia Ying called me a big fool. I had won against Wu Jieyun High School and felt frustrated about not taking first place this time, yet here I was feeling so happy. I guess being a fool is fine; after all, I felt like I had grown a lot this time. 0

On the way home in the afternoon, we ran into Xie Zhinan, who seemed to be waiting for us on purpose. "Hey! Xie Zhinan, what are you doing? Want revenge?" I shouted at him. Xie Zhinan didn't say anything and slowly walked over to me. Then he said, "Xiang Jie, you were the one who called when I answered Xia Ying's phone last time, right?" "Yes, that was me. What's it to you?" I sneered. "You bastard!" Xie Zhinan's expression suddenly turned serious, and then he punched me in the face. I immediately fell down. "What the hell!" A Fei stepped forward and scolded Xie Zhinan. "Xiang Jie, do you know how long Xia Ying cried because of you last time? At that moment, I wondered which bastard made her cry; turns out it was you!" Xie Zhinan's words were powerful and filled with anger. 0

I was left speechless by his words, sitting on the ground in a daze. A Fei was also stunned, not knowing what to do. "Xiang Jie, if you can't make Xia Ying happy, then stay away from her. I can make her happy!" Xie Zhinan continued. "I can!" I stood up abruptly. "I can make her happy because she likes me!" I walked up to Xie Zhinan and said, "Alright! This is your warning; I don't want to see Yingying unhappy again, do you hear me?" Xie Zhinan's voice was firm as if he wanted to punch a hole in the air. I refused to back down: "Fine! I'll prove to you that Yingying is very happy with me!" A Fei watched us both motionless while Xie Zhinan smirked slightly before turning to leave. As I watched his retreating figure and touched my still throbbing cheek, I couldn't help but smile. 0

When I got home and walked through the door, my mom rushed over when she saw my face. "Oh! Son, what happened to your face? Did you get into another fight? Does it hurt?" My mom gently examined my injuries. "Mom, it's nothing. I accidentally hit a tree while riding my bike; A Fei can testify to that! Haha! It doesn't hurt anymore; your son is already an eighteen-year-old adult; this little injury doesn't bother me at all." 0

"Really..." My mom looked at me skeptically. "Yes, yes! Mom, I'm going to do my homework now." I hurriedly escaped into my room. Once inside, I called Xia Ying. "Hey, big pig head! Did you miss me already after such a short time? Haha!" Xia Ying teased as soon as she picked up the call. I chuckled back, "Yeah, I've missed you so much that I can't even eat dinner." "Get lost! Do you think I'm that disgusting?! You can't eat dinner because of me? I'm seriously looking down on you!" Xia Ying retorted. Suddenly, I lost my playful mood and spoke seriously: "Yingying, time flies so fast; it's been a year since we started dating. So much has happened between us during this year—crying together and laughing together. I've made you sad countless times; I'm really not a man!" My feelings of guilt towards Xia Ying suddenly surged. 0

Xia Ying quickly interrupted me: "Stop it right there, Soda! Why are you suddenly bringing this up? It's all in the past; after crying and laughing and breaking up several times, we're still together now! Just treat me better in the future; haha! We're just a pair of inseparable sworn enemies; neither of us can escape!" 0

Hearing Xia Ying's words warmed my heart. "Yingying, I swear I'll never let you shed a single tear again; I'll make you my forever happy princess! Yingying, ilveyu..." I said awkwardly. Xia Ying pretended not to understand: "What? My English isn't good; I don't understand—are you Chinese? If you're Chinese, speak Chinese!" That made me feel shy again, but I still wanted to tease her: "Oh right! I forgot your English isn't good! Yingying, sa la hei." Then I switched to Korean: "What nonsense is this? If your English isn't good then why are you speaking Korean? If not... I'm hanging up!" Xia Ying indeed got anxious: "Okay okay okay! You little girl..." 0

I cleared my throat and said: "Xia Ying classmate, I love you..." 0

The next day when school started, I was in a particularly good mood as I rode my bike while whistling. A Fei found it strange: "Jie, did you find money or something?" "Nope! Where would that luck come from? Haha." I laughed. "Did you win the lottery then?" A Fei continued asking. "No way! A Fei, how can you be so superficial?! Being happy isn't necessarily about money!" I said seriously. A Fei nodded: "Hmm hmm... there's also dollars, euros, pounds..." 0

"Alright alright! Stop right there! My happiness has nothing to do with money; it's because I'm content! Those who are content are always happy!" I told A Fei. After hearing that he smiled without saying anything. 0

When we arrived at school and just entered the classroom, Haoshuai ran over excitedly: "Jie! A Fei! Is there a competition today?" Haoshuai looked at us with particularly excited eyes. "Oh? Didn't expect you to care about our Team so much... No competition today; all group matches have ended; we're moving on to the quarter-finals which will be held at our school on Saturday. Remember to come cheer for us then," I told him. Haoshuai nodded heavily: "Yeah yeah! I'll definitely come; haha." After sitting down at my desk and turning around to look at Xia Ying, she seemed shy as she avoided my gaze when she noticed me looking at her—no wonder after all the flirting and emotional talk we had last night; it would be strange if she wasn't shy! 0
