“Mother, look, within this Magic Castle…” Luna's voice had not fully faded when it was abruptly interrupted by the surging black Magic Aura in the pool.
The once crystal-clear Magic Purification Pool now resembled a cauldron of thick ink, with black mist rapidly spreading outward from Lucius at its center.
The mist seemed alive, continuously devouring the magical energy in the water while emitting a chilling hissing sound.
Aelia's heart sank. She could not respond to Luna, as all her attention was drawn to the swirling black Magic Aura in the pool.
She could sense that this Magic Aura contained an extremely evil and powerful force, as if it were a call from the abyss, sending shivers deep into her soul.
“What… what is happening?!” Aelia's voice trembled as she stared in disbelief at the scene before her.
She could not comprehend why the usually obedient Third Son harbored such a terrifying dark power within him.
Luna's small face was filled with pain and anxiety.
She felt as if her body were being pricked by countless tiny needles, and the magic within her surged wildly, trying to break free from its constraints.
She knew this was the encroachment of Dark Magic upon her body, as well as the resistance of the Great Mage's soul within her.
“Wah… wah…” Luna opened her mouth and let out a heart-wrenching cry.
Her cries were filled with fear and helplessness, like a little beast lost in a dark forest, desperately calling for Mother's protection.
The black mist seemed to respond to Luna's cries, surging towards her even more fiercely.
The mist left dark marks on her tender skin, as if it intended to completely consume her.
"Luna!" The eldest brother's face changed dramatically upon seeing the situation.
He disregarded his disabled body and struggled to rush toward the edge of the pool, but was firmly held back by Qin Si, who stood beside Aelia.
"Eldest Brother, you can't go over there! That dark energy is too dangerous!" Qin Si exclaimed anxiously, her voice tinged with a hint of tears.
The eldest brother knew that Luna's body was still too weak to withstand such a powerful invasion of Dark Magic.
If this continued, she would likely be completely consumed by the Dark Magic, turning into a monster that only knew how to kill.
The Second Brother was equally frantic.
He paced back and forth at the edge of the pool, muttering, "Get Luna out! Get Luna out! What on earth is happening? How did this situation suddenly arise?" He wanted to jump into the pool to save Luna but feared being tainted by the Dark Magic himself, so he could only walk restlessly along the edge.
Brother San also wanted to approach the pool to see what was happening.
However, as soon as he took a step forward, Aelia's stern gaze stopped him in his tracks.
"Lucius, stop right there! You are not allowed to come closer without my permission!" Aelia's voice was cold and authoritative, leaving no room for argument.
Brother San froze, glancing at Aelia with a hint of fear before silently stepping back.
He understood that Mother was in a very bad mood right now, and if he disobeyed her, it would surely anger her.
Aelia bit her lips tightly, her hands clenched into fists, her white nails digging deeply into her palms.
She could feel Luna enduring immense pain, but she couldn't afford to show weakness.
She had to hold on; only by doing so could she completely eradicate the Dark Magic within Luna and allow her to grow up healthy.
Time passed second by second, and the black mist in the pool grew thicker, while Luna's cries became fainter.
Aelia felt as if an invisible hand was tightly gripping her heart, causing her pain that made it nearly impossible to breathe.
She watched Luna struggling in the black mist, filled with conflict and anguish.
She didn’t know if what she was doing was right or wrong; she feared that she might harm Luna, yet she didn’t know what else to do.
Leonard's betrayal, Lucius's fall from grace, and the emergence of Dark Magic within Luna—all of this left Aelia feeling utterly exhausted.
It felt as though she were caught in a massive whirlpool, unable to escape the fate that threatened to consume her.
She tightly closed her eyes and silently prayed, "God, please protect Luna, bless my Children, and safeguard our Glorious Demon Fortress..."
Just as Aelia's mood grew heavier, Qin Si suddenly spoke up cautiously beside her. "Madam, perhaps... it’s time to stop? The Young Miss... she looks like she's in great pain..."
Qin Si's voice was soft and gentle, as if afraid of disturbing Aelia.
But her words were like a stone thrown into a calm lake, creating ripples that spread outward.
Aelia abruptly opened her eyes, her gaze piercing as she looked at Qin Si.
Qin Si was startled by her intense stare and quickly lowered her head, not daring to meet Aelia's eyes.
"Qin Si, are you questioning my decision?" Aelia's voice was cold and stern, like a sharp sword aimed directly at Qin Si's heart.
Qin Si's body trembled as she quickly knelt on the ground, her voice shaking as she said, "I dare not! I only... I only feel heartache for Young Miss..."
Aelia's expression darkened even further.
She coldly gazed at the kneeling Qin Si, her heart filled with anger and disappointment.
"Heartache? Hmph, what good is your heartache? Can you bear her pain for her? Can you cleanse the Dark Magic from her body?!" Aelia's voice grew louder, almost a roar.
Qin Si was so frightened that she trembled all over, daring not to speak further, silently kneeling on the ground as tears blurred her vision.
"Everyone, shut up!" Aelia's roar echoed through the Magic Purification Pool, and the entire place fell silent, as if time itself had stopped.
She looked again at Luna in the pool; the black mist had completely engulfed her, leaving only a vague silhouette visible.
Luna's cries grew weaker and weaker, as if she might disappear at any moment.
Aelia's heart jolted with an unprecedented fear.
She was terrified of losing Luna, terrified of destroying her future with her own hands.
"Enough!" Aelia suddenly shouted, her voice filled with pain and struggle.
"Bring her... bring her up..."
As soon as she finished speaking, she felt a wave of dizziness wash over her, and her body began to tremble uncontrollably.
She knew she had made a decision, but was it the right one or the wrong one?
She didn't know, she truly didn't know...
At that moment, her older brother, who had been silent, suddenly spoke up. "Mother, the dark energy surrounding Luna... seems to be fading..."
Qin Si's heart twisted in anguish as she watched Xiao Luna struggle in the swirling black mist; she felt her own breath becoming labored.
The small figure appeared particularly fragile amidst the rolling black Magic Aura, like a flower on the verge of wilting, making one instinctively want to reach out and protect her.
"Madam..." Qin Si's voice was barely above a whisper, trembling slightly. "Young Miss... she looks so pained... is there... is there any hope?" She dared not speak loudly, fearing to disturb Aelia or provoke her anger with her pleas.
Yet she could no longer bear to watch Luna suffer. The delicate skin of the child had already begun to show spots of Hei Ban, which made Qin Si's heart feel as if it were shattering.
Lucius, who had remained silent until now, suddenly erupted. He stood up abruptly, pointing at Aelia with a trembling voice tinged with tears. "Mother! How can you be so heartless? Luna is still so young! Are you... are you trying to kill her?!" He regretted it; seeing Luna in pain made him wish he could jump into the pool and endure it all in her place.
He was panicking; he didn't understand why the dark magic within him was raging or how to stop it.
Seeing Aelia's sorrowful expression softened Lucius's tone. "Mother, I... I didn't mean to... I... I didn’t know it would turn out like this..." He hurriedly explained, his words tumbling out in a chaotic rush, his eyes filled with regret and fear.
As the swirling black mist in the pool gradually dissipated, Luna's small figure became clearer.
Her face was pale, her lips tinged with purple; those once bright eyes were now filled with terror and helplessness.
She stretched out her tiny arms toward Aelia, emitting faint sobs. "Mama... hug..." That single word "Mama," soft and powerless, pierced Aelia's heart like a needle.
She saw the pleading and wronged look in Luna's eyes, resembling a lost fawn yearning for its mother's protection.
Unable to endure the torment within any longer, Aelia abruptly stood up and rushed to the edge of the pool without hesitation, pulling Luna from the icy water with all her might.
Luna's small body was cold and stiff, like a lifeless stone.
Aelia held her tightly, feeling her faint breaths, and tears could no longer be contained, spilling over.
"Luna, my child..." Aelia choked on her words, her voice trembling. "Don't be afraid, Mommy is here. Mommy will protect you and won't let anyone hurt you again..."
In Aelia's embrace, Luna finally felt a hint of warmth. She clutched at Aelia's clothing, her small body shaking as she cried out in distress.
"Wah... wah..." Her cries were filled with fear, helplessness, and grievance, as if she wanted to release all the pain she had endured.
Her little hand pointed toward the pool, her eyes wide with terror, seemingly accusing it of the horrors she had just faced.
She depended on Aelia, needing her protection. She was scared—scared of being consumed by dark magic once more.
Aelia held Luna tightly, gently patting her back and softly comforting her. "It's okay, Luna, it's okay... Mommy is here; everything will be alright..." She vowed that no matter what happened in the future, she would protect Luna and never let her come to harm again.
Suddenly, urgent footsteps echoed from the end of the corridor, growing closer and clearer... Aelia looked up, a flicker of panic crossing her eyes...
"Aelia! What are you doing?!" An angry voice reverberated through the hallway...
Leonard stormed into the Magic Purification Pool, his deep blue eyes burning with fury as if ready to ignite the entire space.
"Aelia! What are you doing?! Have you lost your mind?!" His voice boomed like thunder, shaking the room and making Qin Si shrink back further, wishing to disappear completely.
He quickly approached Aelia and snatched Luna from her arms.
He carefully examined Luna's body. Seeing her pale face and slightly trembling form made his heart ache as if it were being torn apart.
This tiny life, which should have been cradled in gentle hands, was treated so brutally by Aelia that it was simply unforgivable!
“Do you even know what you’re doing?!” Leonard’s voice was strained with suppressed anger, almost squeezed out between his teeth.
“Luna is still so small, and you actually threw her into the Magic Purification Pool! Do you want her to die?”
Aelia slowly lifted her head, her eyes red and bloodshot, with traces of unshed tears on her face, looking frail and vulnerable.
“Leonard, what right do you have to question me?” Her voice was hoarse and low, filled with despair and sorrow.
“Do you think I wanted to do this? Do you think I didn’t know Luna would suffer? But tell me, do I have any other choice?!”
“What choice? Tell me, what are you talking about?!” Leonard was bewildered by Aelia’s words; he couldn’t understand why she was so agitated.
“Luna has the aura of Dark Magic surrounding her. Is that my fault?!”
Aelia suddenly laughed, a laugh that was desolate and sorrowful, like a withered flower swaying in the Cold Wind.
“My fault? Leonard, of course, you are never at fault! You are always right! The fault lies with me, with this family, with all of us!”
She abruptly stood up, pointing a finger at Leonard’s nose, shouting hoarsely, “Do you think I don’t know? Do you think I’m unaware that you have a woman outside? Do you think I don’t know that you’ve secretly transferred the family resources to her?!”
Leonard’s face turned pale in an instant. He opened his mouth to defend himself but found he had no words to say.
The facts spoke for themselves; everything he had done was already laid bare before Aelia.
“Do you think I threw Luna into the Magic Purification Pool for no reason?!” Aelia’s tears spilled over once more, cascading down her cheeks like rain.
“Because she has the aura of Dark Magic surrounding her! Because she could be consumed by Dark Magic! I must eliminate the dark power within her before she completely falls! Everything I do is for her good! For the good of this family!!”
“But what about you, Leonard? What have you done for this family?!” Aelia's tone turned sharp and furious.
“You are lost in your own desires, disregarding the family's fate! For a Woman Outside, you betrayed your wife, betrayed your family! You are utterly insane!!”
Leonard's body trembled slightly as he looked into Aelia's eyes, filled with anger and disappointment, his heart heavy with guilt and pain.
He knew he was wrong; he had betrayed Aelia's trust and the family's expectations.
“Aelia, I’m sorry… I…” Leonard’s voice choked as he tried to apologize, but found himself unable to utter the words.
His actions had caused irreparable harm to Aelia and the family.
“Enough! I don’t want to hear your apologies!” Aelia interrupted him, her voice cold and resolute.
“From today onward, you are no longer the Lord of Glorious Demon Fortress! Everything you possess will be stripped away! Get out! Never show your face in front of me or the Children again!”
Leonard's body shook violently as he stared at Aelia in disbelief, as if he had just heard the most terrifying judgment in the world.
“Aelia, you… you can’t do this to me…”
“Why can’t I do this to you?!” Aelia sneered. “You betrayed me, betrayed the family; you have no value left! Leave! Don’t let me see you again!”
Leonard understood that he had completely lost Aelia and everything related to Glorious Demon Fortress.
He lowered his head in despair, like a prisoner sentenced to death, slowly walking toward the door.
At that moment, the eldest brother, who had been silent until now, suddenly spoke up. "Mother, please don't be too sad. What has happened has happened; our most important task now is to find a way to solve the problem." His voice was calm and steady, like a rock, providing a sense of security.
"Eldest brother, do you have any ideas?" Aelia looked up at her eldest son.
"I will work hard to enhance my magical abilities!" Determination sparkled in his eyes.
"Even though my body is disabled, I will not give up! I will use my magic to protect our family and safeguard my younger siblings!"
"I will also strive to improve!" Second Brother stepped forward as well. "I will find out who deceived me and make him pay! I will use my magic to carve out a new path for our family!"
"I won't fall behind either!" Brother San gathered his courage. "I will correct my mistakes; I will diligently practice magic and become the pride of our family!"
Seeing her children, Aelia felt a warm current surge within her.
She knew she was not alone; she had family and hope.
"Alright! Let's work hard together!" Aelia wiped away her tears. "We will make the Glorious Demon Fortress rise again! We will show everyone that we are not so easily defeated!"
Everyone echoed in unison, their voices filled with strength and confidence, as if they could shatter the very sky.
"Eldest brother, Luna..." he said, looking at Aelia, who still held Luna in her arms, unconscious.
Aelia looked down at Luna; her face was pale, her breathing weak, as if she could vanish at any moment.
A wave of fear surged through Aelia once more. She held Luna tightly, terrified of losing her.
"We must find a way to resolve the dark magic afflicting Luna as soon as possible," Aelia's voice trembled with anxiety, her heart filled with unease.
“Otherwise, she…”
Suddenly, Luna slightly opened her eyes. Her once clear and bright eyes were now filled with confusion and bewilderment.
She looked around at the people surrounding her.
“Mom…” Luna's voice was tender and weak, yet it clearly reached everyone's ears.
Aelia's heart skipped a beat. She held Luna tightly and gently asked, “Luna, how do you feel? Is there anywhere that hurts?”
Luna shook her head, her small hand gently stroking Aelia's Luna. “Mom, I’m fine… I just… had a very long dream…”
“A dream?” Aelia paused for a moment, not understanding what Luna was talking about.
“Yes, a dream…” Luna said, “one about… the future…”
