“Aelia, even if I have wronged you, I did it for the benefit of the Magic Castle! Don’t forget, I am the master of this house!” Leonard’s voice pierced through Aelia like a poisoned blade, stabbing deep into her heart.
She felt as if breathing had become difficult, her chest weighed down by a massive stone, heavy enough to nearly suffocate her.
The interests of the Glorious Demon Fortress?
How grand a reason that was!
For the sake of the Magic Castle, he could betray her, trample on their love, and disregard all her sacrifices over the years?
Aelia felt a wave of nausea wash over her, her stomach churning as if something was about to rise up. She bit down hard on her lower lip, barely managing to suppress the urge to vomit.
“Interests?!” Aelia’s voice trembled with disbelief and mockery. “Your interests involve betraying your own wife and trampling on your feelings?” She suddenly opened her eyes wide, her crimson gaze filled with rage and pain, as if she could breathe fire.
She recalled the beauty of their first meeting, the vows exchanged at their wedding, and the sweetness and happiness they once shared… Those beautiful memories now felt like sharp knives, ruthlessly carving into her heart, leaving her in unbearable agony.
Tears could no longer be held back, spilling over and cascading down Aelia’s pale cheeks, falling onto Luna’s small pink hands.
The warm tears made Luna shiver slightly.
That damned old man dared to bully Mommy!
Luna cursed silently in her heart, though her little face remained innocent and pure.
She reached out her chubby hand and gently patted Aelia’s cheek, her soft voice carrying a hint of comfort. “Mommy, don’t cry. Luna is here.”
Aelia looked down at her daughter in her arms; Luna’s clear big eyes seemed to see through all her pain and despair.
She held Luna tightly as if trying to merge her into her very being.
Luna’s small hand gently stroked Aelia’s hair, whispering details about Leonard’s affair with Leonard's Concubine that only they could hear.
At first, Aelia found it hard to believe; she couldn’t fathom that her beloved husband would commit such an act of betrayal.
But the details Luna described were so vivid that she had no choice but to accept them as truth.
With each word from Luna, Aelia’s complexion grew paler, and her body began to tremble slightly.
Her heart was filled with shock, fear, pain, and despair—an overwhelming mix of emotions that threatened to break her apart.
The room fell into silence, broken only by Aelia's suppressed sobs and Luna's gentle reassurances.
“Luna, is what you said true?” Aelia’s voice was hoarse and weak, as if it had been squeezed from deep within her throat.
Luna lifted her head and looked into Aelia's eyes, nodding earnestly. "Mommy, Luna would never lie to you."
In that moment, Aelia finally understood that everything was true.
Her husband had truly betrayed her.
She thought of all she had sacrificed for the Glorious Demon Fortress, how she had given up her career and dreams to wholeheartedly support Leonard, managing everything within and outside the Magic Castle for him.
But what had she received in return? She had only gained her husband's betrayal and a heartless abandonment!
A surge of intense anger and resentment rose from the depths of Aelia's heart.
She clenched her fists, Ailya's White Nails digging deep into her flesh, yet she felt no pain at all.
She wanted revenge! She wanted Leonard to pay the price!
She didn't know how to face the impending family turmoil, nor did she know what her future would hold.
For herself, and for Luna, she had to live on with strength!
Aelia took a deep breath, striving to calm herself.
She raised her head and looked at Leonard with cold, resolute eyes.
"Leonard," Aelia's voice was like an Ice Shard, filled with Coldness, "we—"
Suddenly, a violent Cough Sound interrupted Aelia's words.
"Cough cough cough..."
A weak voice came from outside the door: "Aelia, Luna..."
