"The Dark Council..." 0

I whispered the name left by Li Ming, a strange chill creeping up from the soles of my feet to the crown of my head. 0

This apocalypse was even more thrilling than I had imagined, with all sorts of bizarre organizations emerging as if humanity had suddenly developed a case of "late-stage delusions of grandeur." 0

Li Ming's terrified gaze told me that this "Dark Council" was not to be taken lightly. 0

They were not the kind of petty criminals shouting "delusional slogans" while robbing people; they were the real players lurking in the shadows. 0

I glanced at the ruins of the mall in the distance, recalling Li Ming's warning before he left. 0

Our destination, that so-called paradise rumored to be rich in supplies, seemed to hide even greater dangers. 0

But no matter what lay ahead, for the sake of survival and to grow stronger, we had to keep moving forward. 0

I couldn't continue flailing around like a headless chicken in the ruins. 0

I needed a more stable source of supplies, a safer and more reliable shelter, and most importantly—I needed help. 0

Those who managed to survive in this damned apocalypse had some skills. 0

Someone as weak as Li Ming wouldn't last long, even if he got lucky for a moment. 0

And this guy beside me... 0

I turned to Zhong Dali. 0

He was still savoring my earlier "One Punch Man" performance, his mouth agape as if he could fit an apple inside, his eyes filled with awe and a hint of... foolishness. 0

"Old Wei, you... you were amazing just now! Like... like a superhero from TV!" 0

He finally snapped back to reality, looking at me with pure admiration. The expression was so sincere it made me feel a bit embarrassed. 0

"That's good." 0

I waved my hand nonchalantly, but inside I was calculating how to make use of this "dim-witted" strongman. 0

Although he wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed, his strength was truly extraordinary. 0

In a perilous post-apocalyptic world, having a teammate with the attributes of a "human bulldozer" was like having a walking cheat code. 0

"Old Wei, let's go to the mall! You're so strong, you must be able to find lots of food!" 0

Zhong Dali brought up the mall again, his eyes sparkling with a hunger for food, like a husky spotting a bone. 0

"Going to the mall is a must, but we need to be prepared." 0

I decided to go with the flow and guide him toward the mall, which was my "information team's" destination. 0

"There will definitely be many zombies in the mall, and we might encounter other survivors as well." 0

I deliberately emphasized the dangers of the mall to see his reaction. 0

"Zombies? I'm not afraid! I can knock them away!" 0

Zhong Dali clenched his fists, producing cracking sounds from his bones. 0

He completely dismissed the zombies, as if they were just slow-moving punching bags. 0

I felt a surge of joy; it seemed he was not only strong but also had exceptional physical fitness and resilience. 0

He was a born meat shield! 0

"Alright, then let's head to the mall!" 0

I made up my mind. 0

Going to the mall would not only allow us to gather supplies but also draw out plot points from the "Information Group," such as encounters with mutated zombies and other survivors. 0

Most importantly, I could use the mall's complex environment to test Zhong Dali's true abilities, to see just how "dim-witted" he really was and how "capable" he could be. 0

We headed toward the mall. 0

The ruins along the way became denser, and the stench in the air grew more intense. 0

Occasionally, a few zombies would stagger about; upon sensing the presence of living humans, they would immediately emit low growls and lurch toward us. 0

"Wow!" 0

Zhong Dali shouted excitedly, not waiting for my command. He charged forward like a rampaging tank, heading straight for the zombies. 0

He didn't use any techniques—just pure brute force. 0

With a punch for each one, those zombies didn't even have time to get close before being sent flying by his immense strength, crashing against the walls and shattering into pieces. 0

His "dim-witted" fighting style made my eyes twitch in disbelief. 0

This guy really didn’t care about his own body! 0

However, it was precisely his "mindless" charge that made him even more terrifying and unpredictable. 0

While most survivors would cautiously evade and look for opportunities, he went in headfirst! 0

This undoubtedly put immense psychological pressure on our enemies. 0

Before long, we arrived at the entrance of the mall. 0

The massive glass facade was shattered, and the entrance was cluttered with various debris and remnants of vehicles. 0

Inside the mall, darkness loomed like a gaping maw of a giant beast, exuding an air of danger. 0

"Be careful; the situation inside is unclear," I warned Zhong Dali while keeping a vigilant eye on our surroundings. 0

Places like this mall, with their complex structures and limited visibility, were favored hiding spots for zombies and dangerous survivors. 0

"Don't worry, Old Wei! I’ll protect you!" Zhong Dali assured me, thumping his chest, his earnest expression almost convincing me. 0

We cautiously stepped into the mall. 0

As soon as we entered, a musty, decaying odor assaulted our senses. 0

The floor was littered with shards of glass, remnants of shelves, and various unidentified stains. 0

A nauseating stench filled the air, the unmistakable scent of zombies. 0

I immediately held my breath and activated my "Soul Devouring Immunity Evolution" ability, instantly enhancing all my sensory perceptions. 0

Everything around me became clearer: shadows moving in dark corners, low growls behind shelves, even subtle vibrations on the ground... 0

These were all signs of zombie presence. 0

We advanced along the shattered corridor, each step taken with utmost caution. 0

Zhong Dali followed closely behind me; his large frame appeared somewhat clumsy in the narrow passage, yet he remained exceptionally alert, his eyes scanning the surroundings like searchlights. 0

Suddenly, a dark figure burst out from a nearby shop! 0

It was an ordinary zombie, half of its face rotting away, leaving only one murky eye. It opened its gaping mouth and lunged at us. 0

"Roar—" 0

Zhong Dali reacted swiftly. Without waiting for the zombie to get close, he swung his fist, as large as a sandbag! 0

"Bang!" 0

Another loud crash echoed through the air! 0

The zombie flew back as if it had been hit by a cannonball, tumbling through the air before crashing through the wall of the shop across from us, sending up a cloud of dust. 0

"Wow! That was amazing!" 0

Zhong Dali exclaimed excitedly, a victorious smile spreading across his face. 0

I couldn't help but curse him silently as an "idiot," but I had to admit that his strength was indeed monstrous. 0

This brute-force approach, while looking rough, was incredibly efficient for clearing out ordinary zombies. 0

We continued deeper into the mall. 0

The zombies we encountered became more numerous, swarming out from every corner in groups, their numbers several times greater than those outside. 0

Zhong Dali entered "battle mode." 0

He resembled an enraged brown bear, swinging his fists and sending the attacking zombies flying one by one. 0

His roars, the zombies' growls, and the sounds of bodies crashing into shelves and walls blended together, transforming the entire mall into a colossal arena of monstrous combat. 0

I did not stand idly by. 0

While Zhong Dali was engaged in a head-on confrontation, I moved like a nimble cheetah, weaving through the horde of zombies. 0

I avoided the chaos created by Zhong Dali and specifically targeted the zombies flanking us from the sides and behind. 0

My attacks were more precise and lethal. 0

Taking advantage of the speed and agility granted by my "Soul Devouring Immunity Evolution," I maneuvered behind the zombies and struck them down in one blow. 0

I did not consume these ordinary zombies; their immunity offered little enhancement for me now. 0

I needed to conserve my abilities for more dangerous mutants or humans. 0

Zhong Dali and I complemented each other unexpectedly well—one charging headfirst, the other sweeping from the flanks. 0

Though he barreled through like a brute, his immense strength made up for his shortcomings. 0

Meanwhile, I was responsible for clearing out the blind spots he overlooked and dealing with enemies that required finesse to handle. 0

Just as we were caught up in our slaughter, a piercing alarm suddenly blared! 0

"Beep—beep—beep—" 0

The alarm echoed through the empty mall, carrying an ominous foreboding. 0

My expression changed; this old mall's alarm system should have been out of order long ago. Why was it suddenly going off? 0

Could it be... someone! 0

"Wow! What is that sound?!" 0

Zhong Dali also stopped his movements, looking around in confusion. 0

I felt a surge of dread. 0

The alarm sound would undoubtedly attract all the zombies nearby, as well as any potentially lurking dangerous survivors! 0

“Dali! Find a place to hide!” 0

I shouted, pulling Zhong Dali towards the nearest shop. 0

But it was already too late. 0

The alarm seemed to act as a signal; the zombies, which had been moving sporadically, instantly became frenzied. 0

They surged in from all directions, a dark mass surrounding us! 0

Moreover, I sensed a powerful presence rapidly approaching. 0

It was not the aura of an ordinary zombie. 0

It was… a mutated zombie! 0

A chill ran down my spine. 0
