"That's hilarious, the scammer actually thinks he has a point. Just ignore him," Qian Wenwu said, waving his hand as he walked away.
Xiong Sumei got into the car, her expression sour; today had truly been unlucky for her. "I really am having a bad day. If only I had half of your luck," she said to Jiang Chen.
"It's fine. That Blue and White Porcelain Plate of his is worth several thousand, but honestly, with him trying to scam you, there's no need to give him any money," Jiang Chen replied casually.
"You didn't even get out of the car, yet you know how much that thing is worth?" Xiong Sumei asked in surprise.
"I guessed," Jiang Chen laughed, not bothering to explain further.
"This isn't the time for jokes," Xiong Sumei shot him a glare. Fortunately, she was getting more familiar with Jiang Chen and knew he spoke like an old relic, so she didn't take it too seriously.
Once inside the hotel, the middle-aged man sat in the lobby with a bag in hand, watching Xiong Sumei and the others.
"Don't worry, we won't run away," Qian Wenwu sneered.
However, this unexpected trouble had put everyone in a bad mood.
"Qian Wenwu, didn't I ask you to book him a room? Why didn't you do it?" Xiong Sumei asked when she noticed at the front desk that Qian Wenwu hadn't booked a room for Jiang Chen.
"I don't know him; why would I book him a room?" Qian Wenwu replied dismissively.
"Forget it; I'll book it for you," Xiong Sumei said helplessly. However, Qian Wenwu was right; he had no obligation to book a room for Jiang Chen.
"I'll book it myself. My card should still work," Jiang Chen said with a smile as he took out his bank card. As long as the hotel accepted card payments, he was fine.
"This hotel's rooms are quite expensive—several thousand per night. You might want to consider a youth hostel; this place isn't suitable for you," Chen Shuifeng remarked disdainfully, clearly impatient with Jiang Chen and unwilling for him to continue tagging along.
"Do you have a presidential suite?" Jiang Chen ignored Chen Shuifeng's mockery and asked directly.
"Uh, yes, we do have one available. Sir, would you like to stay?" the front desk clerk replied, slightly taken aback.
To be honest, very few people booked presidential suites during this off-season, and they cost thirty thousand per night. Even wealthy individuals rarely stayed there because it was unnecessary.
"Of course! Let’s charge it to my card," Jiang Chen said with a smile.
"Sir, aren't you going to ask about the room rate?" the front desk clerk asked cautiously.
"I should have enough in my account to cover it," Jiang Chen chuckled.
Since Jiang Chen had said so, the front desk clerk took his card and swiped it—successfully processing the payment. As the customer is king, now that Jiang Chen was staying in the presidential suite, he would naturally receive different treatment.
"Miss Xiong, I'm going to head back to my room for a bit of rest. Later, I'll treat you to dinner. I’ll need your help again tomorrow to take me to Tianfu City for my flight," Jiang Chen said with a smile as he stepped into the elevator, leaving Qian Wenwu and the others in stunned silence.
"This guy is actually showing off in front of us. It's infuriating," Qian Wenwu said, his expression darkening with displeasure.
"He's just pretending to be wealthy by staying in a presidential suite. Come on, Qian Wenwu, there's no need to get worked up over it. It's actually quite sad that a poor kid spends all his money just to stay in a presidential suite," Chen Shuifeng chuckled.
Hearing this, Qian Wenwu and the others felt somewhat better.
Xiong Sumei frowned, finding it increasingly difficult to understand Jiang Chen.
