"It must be Mr. Jiang," Xiao Junyong concluded, leaving a remark before ignoring Jin Shengkai completely. He was unwilling to have any association with Jin Shengkai at this moment.
"Xiao, Master Xiao, what's going on? Brother Kun, Brother Kun!" Jin Shengkai was not foolish; upon hearing Xiao Junyong's tone, he realized he had landed himself in serious trouble. The person named Jiang Chen was someone he could not afford to offend.
"Jin Shengkai, don't say you know me either. Go apologize to Mr. Jiang. Do whatever it takes to earn his forgiveness," Zhao Weiqian advised, his heart racing. Today had been incredibly unlucky for him; it seemed that trouble was coming from all directions.
"Um, Brother Kun, can you tell me who exactly Mr. Jiang is? I need to know what I'm dealing with," Jin Shengkai asked cautiously.
"Do you know how Feng Laowu died?"
"It can't be..."
"Just know this: if you offend Mr. Jiang, you're on your own. Let me tell you, don't even mention that you know me or Master Xiao. If Mr. Jiang doesn't kill you, we won't spare you either." Zhao Weiqian dropped this harsh warning and hung up the phone.
Jin Shengkai slumped onto the sofa as he heard the busy signal on the line. This time, he had truly kicked a steel plate.
"Boss, what's wrong?" Seeing his boss in a daze, his subordinate quickly inquired.
Jin Shengkai sat on the sofa, lost in thought for a long time before finally making up his mind.
"Alright, it's decided. Prepare ten million in cash tonight and bring out my Tang Dynasty Golden Buddha. Tomorrow morning, we will meet Mr. Jiang," Jin Shengkai stated.
"Huh? Boss, what are you planning to do?"
"We've offended someone we shouldn't have. We need to spend money to avert disaster and hope to escape this calamity." Jin Shengkai felt anxious; the fact that Zhao Weiqian and Xiao Junyong were so wary of Mr. Jiang made him shudder at the thought of what kind of person he truly was.
Meanwhile, Jiang Chen was unaware of Jin Shengkai's current mindset. After dinner with Xiong Sumei, she seemed to have more to say to him and suggested they go shopping together. Jiang Chen wanted to buy a new outfit since he had been wearing his current clothes for two years. Although his body was now pure and untainted, it was time for a change.
As they walked down the street, Xiong Sumei hesitated to speak.
Jiang Chen didn't wander far and noticed a Hua Sheng leisure brand store next to the hotel. Since his company's products were sold here, he naturally wanted to take a look inside.
Xiong Sumei had plenty on her mind but found it hard to express herself. When she saw Jiang Chen heading into the clothing store, she followed him inside.
"Jiang Chen, why not choose another store? This brand seems a bit low-end," Xiong Sumei remarked disapprovingly. As a second-tier domestic brand, she looked down on it; now that Jiang Chen's image had risen in her eyes, she felt such a low-end brand was unworthy of him.
"I don't have high standards when it comes to clothing. This brand was considered prestigious when I was in junior high school; it's unique and quite nice," Jiang Chen replied with a smile as he picked out an outfit and a pair of shoes for just six hundred yuan. He didn't mention that Hua Sheng was actually his company's brand; since he was merely the nominal chairman now and hadn't been involved in operations for some time, no one else knew either.
Xiong Sumei forced a smile; the more casual Jiang Chen acted, the more enigmatic he became to her.
