Liu Pingping came from a better family than Chen Shuifeng, and she was far more beautiful, with a figure that rivaled that of a model. Such a person made it impossible for Chen Shuifeng not to feel jealous.
Xiong Sumei smiled and said, "Let's finish dealing with things here first, then we can talk when we get back to Tianfu City."
"The current situation is difficult to handle. Kid, you might as well apologize to Boss Jin; you can't afford to provoke him," Qian Wenwu sneered.
Jiang Chen ignored Qian Wenwu and simply looked at Jin Shengkai with a calm expression.
Jin Shengkai hurried over and, upon reaching Jiang Chen, unexpectedly knelt down before him. "Mr. Jiang, I failed to recognize your greatness. Please forgive my ignorance and don’t hold it against me. This ten million and this Tang Dynasty Golden Buddha are my humble offerings; I hope you will accept them," Jin Shengkai stammered, his hands trembling as his subordinates quickly opened a box containing ten million in cash along with the Tang Dynasty Golden Buddha.
Jiang Chen was not surprised by Jin Shengkai's actions. Although he had not shown himself for two years, his name still held considerable weight in the Huaxia Underground World.
"I will accept the Golden Buddha, but as for the money, Boss Jin, I believe your ill-gotten gains should be used to cultivate some good karma. Otherwise, if you were to meet an untimely end and find yourself in the underworld facing judgment, you might discover that your sins could lead you to a fate worse than death," Jiang Chen said with a smile. For him, ten million was hardly significant; however, the Golden Buddha was indeed an antique with a faint aura of Buddhist light—keeping it at home as a decoration would be quite nice.
"Mr. Jiang is right; I will definitely turn over a new leaf," Jin Shengkai quickly replied, beads of sweat forming on his forehead despite the cold weather. Fortunately, Jiang Chen accepted the Golden Buddha; as long as he did so, Jin Shengkai felt he could escape disaster.
"Is there anything else?" Jiang Chen asked.
"No, nothing else," Jin Shengkai stuttered.
"Since there’s nothing more, you may leave," Jiang Chen said indifferently.
"Uh, okay," Jin Shengkai replied as if granted amnesty, quickly standing up and respectfully stepping aside.
"Let’s go," Jiang Chen said to Xiong Sumei while playing with the Golden Buddha as he walked toward her car.
Xiong Sumei snapped back to reality and hurriedly caught up with him.
Qian Wenwu and his group were left in shock, their eyes nearly popping out. This situation seemed off; wasn’t Jin Shengkai supposed to come looking for trouble? Why was he apologizing to Jiang Chen instead? It was truly strange.
"Boss Jin, who is that kid? Why are you so afraid of him?" Qian Wenwu couldn't help but ask.
"You’d better be polite to Mr. Jiang; otherwise, don’t blame me for being rude," Jin Shengkai's expression darkened, filled with frost.
Qian Wenwu jumped in surprise and dared not ask further questions as he quickly walked away.
However, this unexpected scene left Qian Wenwu and his companions feeling uneasy. They had hoped that today Jin Shengkai would teach Jiang Chen a lesson but hadn’t anticipated that Jiang Chen would be even more formidable than they imagined. This was hard for them to accept.
"What on earth is going on? Did Jin Shengkai take the wrong medicine?" Qian Wenwu muttered.
"Jin Shengkai kept calling that kid Mr. Jiang; could it be that he really has some impressive background?" Li Chengdu said.
"Haha, look at him—his clothing and taste scream 'loser.' If someone like him had any real influence, it would be unbelievable. Maybe Jin Shengkai mistook him for someone else?" Chen Shuifeng said skeptically.
