The woman outside was Lin Bingbing's harsh and vain mother.
"Those are just people slandering the Second Young Master of the Shi family. You know he's young and handsome, with a prestigious background. Some unscrupulous women swarm around him like flies. Don't believe those rumors," Lin Bingbing's mother insisted, fiercely defending her prospective son-in-law.
"Ha! Mom, there's no point in talking to you anymore. Why can't you think about me for once? Am I not your daughter?" Lin Bingbing's voice was filled with disappointment. She felt as if she had not received a shred of love from her parents for a long time; she seemed to be nothing more than a tool for them to make money. When she could earn, she was treated like royalty; when she couldn't, she was discarded like trash.
"Of course you're my daughter! I'm doing this for your happiness. If you can find someone better than the Second Young Master of the Shi family, I won't object," her mother replied.
"The person I like is a thousand times better than the Second Young Master of the Shi family," Lin Bingbing declared loudly.
"Who exactly do you like? And it seems that it's one-sided; that person doesn't like you back, does he? What good does that do? In Huaxia, there are indeed people more outstanding than the Second Young Master of the Shi family and families more illustrious than the Shi family, but matters of the heart—especially marriages among wealthy families—aren't just about your feelings," her mother said helplessly.
"He... he definitely likes me too; he's just very busy," Lin Bingbing countered, though her tone lacked conviction.

If he can manage to take you away from the Second Young Master, I promise I won't pressure you into anything again," her mother said before walking away.
Lin Bingbing stood in her room, staring blankly at her reflection in the mirror. She picked up her phone but ultimately lacked the courage to dial Jiang Chen's number. She knew well that Jiang Chen was surrounded by beautiful women and likely had no interest in her; he probably had forgotten all about her.
"Sigh, it's my one-sided wish, but I'm willing," Lin Bingbing murmured to herself, a hint of stubbornness in her eyes.
Just as she was lost in thought, her phone suddenly rang. Instinctively, she picked it up and looked at the screen—Jiang Chen was calling.
Lin Bingbing thought she might be imagining things and rubbed her eyes before looking again; it was indeed Jiang Chen.
Overjoyed, she quickly pressed the answer button.
"Hello, Bingbing? I heard you got injured while filming. I'm heading to Yulu City right now. Where are you staying? I'll come see you," Jiang Chen's voice came through the phone—simple words that sounded like music to Lin Bingbing's ears this year.
