Seeing this, Ye Chen felt a mix of emotions, unable to find the right words to express himself. He truly didn’t want to stay here for even a moment longer.
However, Pei Guanjing had no intention of letting go of the prey that had come to him. He kept his arms tightly wrapped around Ye Chen, his muscles taut. In a hushed voice, Pei Guanjing said, “A Chen, I… I feel a bit unwell.”
Suddenly, Ye Chen recalled a promise he had made to someone in the past, vowing to help them with something next time. But at this moment, he didn’t want to admit it. He pressed his lips together, their soft pink hue trembling slightly as he turned his head away, avoiding Pei Guanjing’s gaze. “What does your discomfort have to do with me?” he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. After speaking, he averted his eyes from Pei Guanjing again, his ears tinged with red—a clear sign that he was reminded of his earlier promise and now felt somewhat shy.
A rare blush appeared on Ye Chen's face.
Pei Guanjing observed all of this with amusement, finding it endearing how adorable his beloved was in this moment. That bashful demeanor melted even his usually icy heart.
“A Chen.”
Ye Chen looked up at the sound of his name. Pei Guanjing stood there in a flowing white robe that resembled moonlight, accentuating his cool and distant aura perfectly. He parted his lips slightly and let out a soft sigh before bending down and lifting Ye Chen along with the blanket, placing him sideways on the bed.
Ye Chen was taken by surprise; his wide eyes sparkled with confusion as he stared at Pei Guanjing. He felt utterly limp in Pei Guanjing’s embrace, as if all strength had been drained from his legs. Even if he wanted to struggle, he found himself unable to move.
“Pei Guanjing!” he called out urgently, his voice trembling slightly. “Put me down!”
He sensed something indescribable stirring within Pei Guanjing’s embrace, causing cold sweat to bead on his back and panic to rise within him. No way—he wasn’t ready for this yet; what if Pei Guanjing intended to…
But Pei Guanjing made no further moves. He simply held Ye Chen steadily in his arms, pressing his warm chest against Ye Chen's slightly fragile back.
Ye Chen could clearly feel the warmth radiating from Pei Guanjing's chest, a heat that seemed to carry a strange power, causing his heart to race uncontrollably.
Pei Guanjing spoke softly, "The Hidden Fragrance Pill has serious consequences if taken for too long, A Chen. You must stay with me tonight; I don’t want anything to happen to you."
Ye Chen immediately wanted to retort, but as soon as he opened his mouth, Pei Guanjing's arms tightened around his waist, like a shackle that rendered him immobile. So, the words caught in his throat, and he could only pout and say, "Got it."
After all, it wasn't the first time they had shared a bed just to chat.
Seeing Ye Chen agree, Pei Guanjing's originally cold eyes suddenly brightened, sparkling like stars in the night sky. He leaned down slightly, and before Ye Chen could react, he kissed him on the Heavenly Mandate.
Ye Chen felt a tingling sensation at his neck. "Ah!"
He couldn't help but exclaim, quickly covering his neck with his hand and turning to glare at Pei Guanjing. "What are you doing? Didn't you already mark me?"
Pei Guanjing gazed at Ye Chen's lips, which opened and closed like delicate petals, feeling a rush of heat surge in his chest. Unable to hold back any longer, he pressed another deep kiss onto him.
His lips brushed gently against Ye Chen's, the motion tender yet tinged with urgency as he whispered softly, "A Chen, you smell so good."
The scent of sandalwood and incense enveloped Ye Chen's face, intoxicating him as they sank deeper into each other.
As he was kissed, Ye Chen's eyes flashed with helplessness as he rolled them in exasperation.
As a grown man, it was the first time someone had called him fragrant. Yet for some reason, a ripple of something different stirred within him, and his cheeks involuntarily flushed slightly.
Pei Guanjing's kiss grew increasingly fervent, his lips traveling from Ye Chen's brow to the corners of his mouth. The passionate kiss was filled with affection and deep emotion, and it wasn't until Ye Chen's lips turned a crimson red, almost bleeding, that Pei Guanjing reluctantly ceased his actions.
At this moment, both of them were slightly breathless. Ye Chen panted softly, his cheeks flushed from the intensity of the kiss.
Soon after, they lay down together to sleep.
Ye Chen seemed to be exhausted from worrying about Pei Guanjing's injuries over the past few days, both physically and mentally drained. Perhaps it was also because the person beside him was a familiar face, filling him with a sense of security, that he quickly fell into a deep slumber.
His breathing was even and gentle, occasionally furrowing his brow as if he encountered something in his dreams.
Pei Guanjing, however, felt no drowsiness. He quietly watched Ye Chen beside him.
In the dim light of the flickering candle, Ye Chen's delicate features were slightly closed. His long eyelashes cast a small shadow on his eyelids, gently fluttering with each breath. His hair, having fallen loose while he slept, cascaded like black silk over the pillow, creating an exquisite picture.
As that strand of hair swayed gently, it stirred something soft within Pei Guanjing's heart.
Pei Guanjing nuzzled his chin against Ye Chen's forehead and instinctively tightened his embrace, wanting to pull Ye Chen closer as if to merge him into his very being.
In the stillness of the night, Pei Guanjing felt Ye Chen's warmth and listened to his steady breathing. His heart was filled with tranquility and contentment, as if all the noise of the world had faded away. In this moment, it was just the two of them, immersed in their own tender time together.
