The gaze directed at Jiang Jiewen caused an uproar in Jiang Chen's class. The boys all straightened up, puffing out their chests, displaying their most impressive postures, much like male animals showcasing their vibrant colors in front of females.
“Let’s go, Jiang Jiewen.” A classmate beside her tugged at her, bringing her back to reality. Jiang Jiewen's feelings were difficult to articulate. It had been nearly eight years since she last saw Jiang Chen after graduating from middle school, and encountering him in such a setting felt surreal.
In the open area beneath the teaching building, Class Six and Class Nine met, and both homeroom teachers began to chat amiably.
“Since we’re all dining at the Golden Qilin Hotel, let’s go together. After all, I’m still your Chinese teacher from Class Six,” said the homeroom teacher of Class Nine.
“Then let’s head over together,” Jiang Chen's homeroom teacher replied with a smile.
Both teachers were veterans at the middle school, and as educators, they took pride in their students. Naturally, the homeroom teacher from Class Nine took the opportunity to boast about their outstanding student representative, Jiang Jiewen. Meanwhile, Jiang Chen's homeroom teacher highlighted a few of the better-performing students, though Jiang Chen was not among them. Although he had performed well initially, he hadn’t managed to get into university later on. Qi Mu had managed to enroll at Jiang City University, but it paled in comparison to Jiang Jiewen's Jinling University.
Jiang Jiewen kept stealing glances at Jiang Chen; however, being pulled by her homeroom teacher as a point of pride made it difficult for her to approach him directly.
The two classes chatted and laughed as they exited the school. The Golden Qilin Hotel was about seven or eight miles away from the school, so they naturally needed to take a vehicle. Although nearly a hundred students from both classes attended this outing, many had cars, so there was no need for taxis; they could simply ride with those who drove.
“Class Representative, my car is over there; come ride with me,” Chen Chaoyue said as he approached Jiang Jiewen, pointing at his eye-catching Porsche with a hint of pride.
“No thanks,” Jiang Jiewen replied casually, her eyes scanning the crowd until she quickly spotted Jiang Chen riding his electric scooter. Without hesitation now, she walked towards him.
“Class Representative, I won’t bite you! Besides, only my car is worthy of you!” Chen Chaoyue called out.
But Jiang Jiewen ignored his words and continued walking in a specific direction.
Seeing Chen Chaoyue’s disappointment brought satisfaction to many boys present; if Jiang Jiewen had actually gotten into Chen Chaoyue’s sports car, those who viewed her as a goddess would have felt as if they had swallowed a fly.
“Jiang Chen, can you give me a ride?” Jiang Jiewen boldly approached him in front of everyone.
“Hop on,” Jiang Chen replied succinctly.
Jiang Jiewen beamed with joy and quickly climbed onto Jiang Chen's electric scooter, gripping the back of his shirt with both hands, feeling both nervous and excited.
Once she settled in, Jiang Chen started the scooter and sped off.
“…”
Both Class Nine and Class Six students stared in astonishment at this scene. While many boys couldn’t accept that Jiang Jiewen might have ridden in Chen Chaoyue’s sports car—seeing her as a goddess—they found it even harder to accept that she was now on Jiang Chen’s scooter.
"Who is that riding the electric scooter? Does anyone know them? It's so strange that Jiang Jiewen isn't taking Chen Chaoyue's sports car and is instead on an electric scooter," the classmates of Jiang Jiewen said, all wearing expressions of confusion and surprise. However, none of them recognized Jiang Chen.
