“It’s because I’m not worthy of him,” Jiang Jiewen replied.
“I’m so mad! Did he drug you or something?” Chen Chaoyue was on the verge of exploding; Jiang Jiewen was simply unreasonable.
“Alright, alright, everyone stop talking. When it comes to love, outsiders can’t really comment. It’s only important that you feel it’s worth it,” Jiang Jiewen’s homeroom teacher quickly interjected, sensing the atmosphere was becoming explosive.
Out of respect for the teacher, everyone shifted the topic, suppressing the tense mood.
After finishing their meal, the class reunion came to an end. Some classmates were heading out to sing karaoke while others were going home. Although everyone was curious about the situation between Jiang Jiewen and Jiang Chen, it was merely curiosity. After this gathering, who knew when they would meet again? They were no longer naive young boys and girls; they all had burdens of life on their shoulders. Gossip was just a fleeting moment; no one had the time to dig deeper.
However, some people enjoyed stirring up trouble.
As Jiang Chen and Qi Mu were saying their goodbyes and preparing to leave with Jiang Jiewen, just as they rode out on their bikes, Chen Chaoyue suddenly stopped his sports car right in front of Jiang Chen. Jiang Chen didn’t brake in time and ended up crashing into him.
Chen Chaoyue was sure that Jiang Chen wouldn’t dare to crash into him and would rather fall himself. But upon hearing the noise from behind, his expression darkened. How could he not feel heartache when his million-dollar luxury car was hit?
Chen Chaoyue hurriedly got out of the car and rushed to check the damage. His heart sank; Jiang Chen’s crash was brutal! The back of the sports car had crumpled in at least thirty centimeters. The most ridiculous part was that Jiang Chen’s electric bike remained completely unscathed.
The commotion immediately attracted classmates and several passersby who gathered around to watch.
“Chen Chaoyue, why did you stop so suddenly?” Jiang Jiewen complained from behind Jiang Chen on his electric bike. She naturally wasn’t worried about compensation; to her, a million-dollar sports car was nothing in Jiang Chen's eyes.
“Class monitor, you should ask this guy how he drives! Has he even learned traffic laws? He’s fully responsible for rear-ending me. Let’s settle this privately for the sake of our friendship,” Chen Chaoyue said, trying to maintain a nonchalant attitude despite his immense frustration over the damage.
Qi Mu and others had originally gotten into their cars but rushed over upon hearing the noise. When they saw what had happened, they were taken aback. The impact was severe, and everyone knew how expensive it was to repair a sports car; this crash would cost at least hundreds of thousands.
However, Qi Mu and the others naturally stood by Jiang Chen's side.
“Chen Chaoyue, it’s your fault for not knowing how to drive! You stopped suddenly; otherwise, Jiang Chen wouldn’t have crashed into you! You share some responsibility too.”
“Exactly! Chen Chaoyue, I suspect you did it on purpose. Jiang Chen, don’t be afraid of him; just call the police and let them handle it.”
“Yes, call the police! Don’t settle privately; it’s not your fault!” The classmates rallied behind Jiang Chen.
Even many passersby supported Jiang Chen; after all, he appeared to be the weaker party and could garner more sympathy.
“Don’t worry, young man! I’ll be your witness; it was this car that stopped suddenly causing you to crash into it,” an elderly man comforted Jiang Chen.
“What kind of car is this? It looks like it’s made of paper! The electric bike is perfectly fine while this one is wrecked—must be a worthless car,” an elderly woman chimed in curiously.
