"Hello, Brother Bao, this is Xiao Chen, Chen Chaoyue. We had dinner together the other day," Chen Chaoyue said in a low voice.
"I have a bit of an impression, Xiao Chen. What’s the matter?" Brother Bao's tone was somewhat impatient.
"Well, I’ve run into some trouble and I’d like to borrow some brothers from you," Chen Chaoyue replied.
"Ha, I’m afraid I can’t help you with that. I’ve washed my hands of this business for years now and have no desire to get involved in any fighting or killing," Brother Bao said lightly.
Chen Chaoyue was taken aback. He thought Brother Bao was just afraid of getting into trouble or didn’t see enough benefit in it, so he quickly explained, "Brother Bao, the other party is just a loser from my former class. Today is our junior high class reunion, and he actually stole my woman and even crashed my sports car. Of course, Brother Bao, if you call your brothers over, I won’t let them go unrewarded."
"Xiao Chen, you can’t handle a loser like that?" Brother Bao’s tone was clearly mocking. He guessed that Chen Chaoyue just wanted to leverage his name for some show-off.
A few years ago, he would have agreed without hesitation, but now he wanted to be a good person. He couldn’t afford to bully someone like that; if that big boss found out, he would be in serious trouble.
"He really is a loser; I’ve never even heard of him. But he’s quite bold—riding an electric bike as if he were driving a luxury car, acting all high and mighty," Chen Chaoyue scoffed.
Hearing this, Brother Bao’s thoughts stirred, and an uneasy premonition rose in his heart.
"What’s that guy's name?" Brother Bao asked cautiously. It was rare to find someone so arrogant; could it really be him?
"His name is Jiang Chen," Chen Chaoyue said casually.
"What did you say?" Brother Bao jumped up from his chair in shock.
"I said Jiang Chen! Brother Bao, do you know him?" Chen Chaoyue was startled.
"Are you looking for death? You dare to mess with Mr. Jiang? You must not want to live anymore! How many lives do you think you have? Damn it, don’t say you’re related to me," Brother Bao scolded fiercely.
Chen Chaoyue was stunned by the reprimand but managed to regain his composure before Brother Bao hung up the phone.
"Brother Bao, who exactly is he?"
"You can’t afford to offend him, Xiao Chen. Considering you’re somewhat sensible, let me give you a piece of advice: being alive right now is your luck. Not just you—even Lu San Ye wouldn’t dare to cross Mr. Jiang and walk away unscathed. That’s all I have to say; handle it yourself." With that, Brother Bao hung up the phone and began contemplating whether he should prepare some gifts to visit Jiang Chen since he had returned home for the New Year.
Listening to the busy tone on his phone, Chen Chaoyue turned pale as if all blood had drained from his face.
Even Lu San Ye was someone they couldn’t provoke; that was terrifying. Lu San Ye, Lu Zhengjian, was the Underground Boss of Qingcheng City. Lu Zhengjian knew about Jiang Chen because Hu Sanxiong had informed him. After all, they were cut from the same cloth. Hu Sanxiong had learned that Jiang Chen was from Qingcheng County and had mentioned Jiang Chen's affairs in Songnan to Lu Zhengjian before discussing matters in Southwest China later on.
Upon hearing about such a formidable person, Lu Zhengjian kept Jiang Chen's name firmly in mind and warned his subordinates. Considering this was Jiang Chen’s hometown and that he would eventually return, he instructed his men to keep a low profile and do some good deeds. Otherwise, attracting Jiang Chen's attention would lead to disastrous consequences.
