Three police officers were stationed at the mine that night, initially believing that the two individuals would not return. However, they appeared once again.
These two moved with astonishing speed; one moment they were a hundred meters away, and the next, they were only fifty meters distant. In the blink of an eye, they stood right in front of the officers.
The policemen barely had time to register what was happening before they fell unconscious. Fortunately, there was no real danger, as they awoke the next morning, having merely fainted. Even their body cameras remained intact and recorded the incident. When the chief of the small-town police station reviewed the footage, he quickly reported it to the county office. Jiang Shi, who had been a police officer for thirty years, had heard of extraordinary individuals existing in the world but never expected to encounter one in his jurisdiction. Cases involving extraordinary beings were rare nationwide, and Jiang Shi was unsure whether he was fortunate or unfortunate to have stumbled upon such a case.
This complicated situation was beyond his capacity to handle, so he promptly escalated it. To his surprise, Director Li Fuxiu decided to come personally.
As the director, Li Fuxiu was privy to more secretive matters than Jiang Shi. He understood that these two were not extraordinary beings but rather Martial Arts Experts. Having encountered Martial Arts Experts before, he recognized that the pair appearing in Qingcheng County were significantly more formidable than any he had previously seen. Their repeated appearances on a mountain in Qingcheng County suggested they had a specific purpose or were after some treasure. Li Fuxiu's visit served two purposes: to witness the Martial Arts Experts firsthand and to earn merit for handling such a case.
Dealing with a Martial Artist could earn him first-class honors. Li Fuxiu and Jiang Shi planned to wait for their quarry that night, confident that with so many officers present, even these Martial Arts Experts would struggle to contend with them.
To be honest, Li Fuxiu had no intention of hiding his awareness of their identities; he knew they were Martial Artists and believed that as the police chief, they would think twice before attacking him. Moreover, it seemed unlikely that these two intended to kill anyone; otherwise, those college students and police officers would have faced far worse than simply being knocked out.
"Li Fuxiu, do you think those two will show up tonight? We should have parked our patrol car farther away to avoid alarming them," Jiang Shi remarked.
"If there's something they need on this mountain, they'll definitely return. The question is whether they've found what they're looking for," Li Fuxiu pondered.
"Last night, according to our hidden cameras, they came back again, so they probably haven't found it yet," Jiang Shi replied.
"That's good news; I intend to meet them tonight," Li Fuxiu said with a smile, though his expression remained serious. After all, even bullets might not be effective against Martial Arts Experts, especially under the cover of darkness.
A light drizzle fell as Li Fuxiu and Jiang Shi stood under the eaves of a tin-roofed building at the mine, checking their watches while waiting.
"They usually show up around eight-thirty; it's almost time," Jiang Shi said nervously as he glanced at his watch. He certainly did not want to spend another night unconscious here.
Suddenly, two beams of light appeared in the darkness, approaching rapidly from afar.
"They're here," Jiang Shi said as tension gripped them all.
