"Let's go." Jiang Chen pulled Jiang Jiewen along, and they vanished into the night on a flying sword.
Given the short distance and the darkness, Jiang Chen naturally chose the most convenient and swift method.
Standing on Zong Yun Jian, Jiang Jiewen felt the rush of wind by her ears and gazed down at the lights and neon below, experiencing a surreal sensation.
"Jiang Chen, am I... am I flying?" she instinctively tightened her grip on him, feeling both nervous and excited.
"This is called sword flight. You must have seen it in fantasy dramas, but this time it's real," Jiang Chen explained.
"It's truly amazing, Jiang Chen! If I couldn't feel your presence and warmth, I would think I'm dreaming. This is just... so cool!" Jiang Jiewen struggled to find the right words, settling on "so cool."
"Maybe one day you can do it too," Jiang Chen smiled.
"Really?" Jiang Jiewen's eyes sparkled with anticipation. The dream of flying was undoubtedly as alluring as immortality for anyone.
Although Jiang Chen knew many girls on Earth, some even more beautiful and accomplished than Jiang Jiewen, his feelings for her were distinctly different. After all, in her past life, she had harbored a secret crush on him. Reflecting on his previous life, Jiang Chen felt a mix of nostalgia and gratitude; he considered himself fortunate to have been admired by a goddess like Jiang Jiewen while also receiving Su Yu's affection.
However, in his past life, he had also faced misfortune; in love, sometimes social standing mattered greatly. Yet, just this secret admiration from Jiang Jiewen was enough for him to treat her differently.
Then there was Su Yu, another goddess-like figure who had always loved him in his previous life. In this lifetime, he naturally wanted to make it up to her.
"Alright, we've arrived." Suddenly, Jiang Chen announced.
Jiang Jiewen quickly looked down. The night was vast and dark; on Qingyi Mountain, there was only a faint light visible. Although she felt a bit scared of heights, having Jiang Chen by her side bolstered her courage significantly, alleviating much of her fear.
"Let's observe the situation first," Jiang Chen lowered their altitude and landed on a rock near Longan Pool to survey the area below.
Li Fuxiu and Jiang Shi were currently stationed beside Longan Pool. They were straightforward, skipping any ambushes, which indicated their confidence.
As they waited for their opponents to arrive, Li Fuxiu occasionally glanced at Longan Pool.
"Old Peng, is there really any Yin Ling Zhi Jing here?" Li Fuxiu scooped up some water from the pool. The winter water was particularly cold; apart from its chilliness, there seemed to be nothing unusual about it.
Peng Shishan looked puzzled as well and shook his head. "Whether it exists or not will be revealed when they arrive. I don't have much knowledge about such things."
After a while, sounds emerged from the woods as two beams of light approached from afar.
"They're here." Peng Shishan turned towards the mountain base with a slightly serious expression. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back; despite his demeanor being grave, he exuded an aura of strength that made him appear as if he were a powerful figure surveying everything from atop a mountain.
In martial arts, presence was crucial; if one's aura could overpower the opponent's, there was already a fifty percent chance of victory.
Li Fuxiu and Jiang Shi straightened their backs, becoming alert. They had already fallen victim the previous night, leaving a shadow in their hearts, and their pulses quickened as they instinctively moved closer to Peng Shishan.
Soon, the two figures from last night came rushing toward them. Dressed in black athletic gear, their faces had been obscured by the rain the night before, making it difficult to discern their features. However, tonight, under the powerful beam of a flashlight, their appearances became clear.
