With a backpack full of loot, Zhang Hui stepped onto the balcony, filled with visions of a bright future, ready to climb back down using the rope. However, his breath caught in his throat at the sight before him—the rope that should have been hanging outside the balcony was nowhere to be found! 0

"Damn it!" Zhang Hui couldn't help but curse. Just as he entertained unrealistic thoughts, trouble struck, making him feel a twinge of guilt. He looked up at the rooftop, where the fierce wind was whipping the rope back and forth, making it completely out of reach. "Heaven loves to play tricks on those with ill intentions..." he murmured to himself, then steadied his thoughts. "Anyway, no one is home; I can't go out through the window, but I can use the front door. Given that the owner of this house left the windows open and money in an unlocked drawer, they probably don't have a habit of locking the door when they leave." 0

Zhang Hui stepped toward the front door, planning to retrieve the rope from the rooftop later for future use. But when he grasped the doorknob and pulled with all his might, the door wouldn't budge—it had been locked from the outside! 0

Now, he was truly trapped inside the house. 0

Meanwhile, it was deep into the night, and Lin Li sat in front of her computer, frowning at the dense information on the screen. She bit her pen and scribbled on paper, but ultimately set it down and pulled out her phone to dial a number. 0

"This is Mr. Cang. Press 1 to chat with me or 2 to schedule a date..." A middle-aged man's exaggerated and teasing voice came through the line. 0

"It's me." Lin Li interrupted him directly, her voice tinged with fatigue. "I need help cracking a password." 0

"You haven't called me in ages, and when you finally do, it's for help—I'm truly heartbroken. Alright then, since you’re so beautiful, I’ll help you out. Just send me the password via email." 0

Lin Li was already accustomed to his teasing tone and explained, "No need to send it; this one is particularly simple—just four letters: C, O, S, E." 0

There was a moment of silence on the other end. "Come on, that's way too short! The usual rules apply; I can't solve it without some intel!" 0

Indeed, passwords were based on mutual knowledge between sender and receiver; the decoder needed some understanding of its content to decipher it. Lin Li admitted, "I can reveal that there’s new progress in the Yu Mountain Villa Incident. The identities of more than half of the deceased have been confirmed by their families, while the remaining two unclaimed bodies have naturally become key investigation targets. Additionally, it's been established that others were present at the scene besides the deceased." 0

The so-called Yu Mountain Villa Incident was a murder case that occurred days ago in a rental villa at Yu Mountain, where none of the five people inside survived. As per protocol, police had sealed off most information; however, there were always those who could obtain the latest intel quickly—Lin Li was one of them. 0

"Is someone fleeing after committing murder? It's not a no-survivor scenario; what a waste of a perfectly good backdrop of the Blizzard Mountain Villa," the man on the other end of the phone lamented. 0

"It shouldn't be that way. The reasons are confidential. Right now, I'm responsible for one of the victims and have uncovered some interesting information that I can share," Lin Li said, focusing on her computer screen and quietly reading aloud some of the details she could disclose. "The victim is a woman, a nurse from City Third Hospital, unmarried, with a boyfriend, and her hobby is reasoning." She paused for a moment. "Does that ring any bells?" 0

"A nurse who likes reasoning? Xing Li Le Fu Mi?" The man blurted out his favorite character from the series. 0

"Not her. Do you remember the complicated medical dispute that happened at Third Hospital over two months ago? During my investigation, I found out that this victim was directly involved in that incident, which makes me suspect that her murder is related to that medical dispute. She was beautiful, cheerful, and easygoing, so she got along well with everyone—peers and elders alike—without stepping on anyone's toes. Aside from that medical accident, I can't think of any motive for her murder," Lin Li stated, her tone tinged with indignation at how such a wonderful young woman could die under such mysterious circumstances. 0

"I don't believe a killer who has taken five lives needs a motive for murder. Take Zero Kaki Izo, for instance," the man replied skeptically. 0

This city was filled with too many coincidences and possibilities; those who truly understood it would never take any connected events as inevitable. Even if Xu Yanran was directly involved in the medical accident, it didn't necessarily mean there was a direct link to her death. 0
