Zhou Rongli's vision and that of the Zhou family were simply not on the same level; she had no time to argue with them. When Jiang Chen learned about his godmother Zhou Rongli's grievances with the Zhou family, he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of empathy. Upon learning that Jiang Chen was visiting the Zhou family for New Year's greetings, Yue Hui immediately expressed her desire to join him. Although the Zhou family couldn't compare to the Yue Family, they were still considered respectable in Hangcheng. Since it was Jiang Chen's godmother's family, Yue Hui felt it was appropriate to pay her respects. Of course, her true intention was to see Jiang Chen.
Jiang Chen understood Yue Hui's motives and hadn't seen her in over two years, so he welcomed the idea of meeting up. Therefore, when Yue Hui suggested she would also go to the Zhou family, he didn't object.
On the second day of the Lunar New Year, at the Zhou family's villa by West Lake in Hangcheng, Zhou Rongli's older brothers had taken their families to their wives' family homes; they were unwilling to meet with Zhou Rongli. For two years, whenever she returned to the Zhou family, she had not seen her brothers. However, her older sisters, Zhou Duanmei and Zhou Lianhua, were relatively polite towards Zhou Rongli's family now. Especially towards Jiang Chen, her god-nephew, they even felt a sense of fear.
They had learned that Hu Sanxiong's son was killed by this young man named Jiang Chen. Who was Hu Sanxiong? He was the Underground Boss of Hangcheng, and the Zhou family held him in great respect. Zhou Duanmei and Zhou Lianhua informed their older brother and other brothers about this matter; however, they still refused to swallow their pride and reconcile with Zhou Rongli's family. While their brothers' concerns held some validity, Zhou Duanmei and Zhou Lianhua were just women who valued emotions more deeply; they had long since put aside their grievances with their sister Zhou Rongli. Since it was the second day of the New Year and their sister's family would be visiting, early that morning they went shopping for ingredients and busied themselves preparing at their family home.
When Jiang Chen's family arrived, both Zhou Duanmei and Zhou Lianhua were waiting at the door along with Jiang Chen’s Guan Waipo. As for Jiang Chen’s Grandpa Gan, he remained locked in his study as usual; he had previously insisted he did not recognize Zhou Rongli’s family and now found himself in an awkward position where he could not back down. Thus, he chose to isolate himself rather than face them.
“Hello, Grandma!” Jiang Chen greeted as he approached with Jiang Lu. After greeting her, Jiang Lu quickly took hold of Guan Waipo’s arm affectionately.
