A low, magnetic voice came through the phone, resonating with the weight of experience yet remaining steady and powerful. "Mu Er, what on earth has happened to make you so flustered?"
Su Mu was frantic, gripping the phone tightly as he quickly recounted to his master the dire situation Ye Qiu was facing and the immense threat posed by the Bone Corrosion Talisman.
After listening to Su Mu's account, his master fell into a brief contemplation. Time ticked by, and the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.
Finally, breaking the silence, his master spoke slowly, "The Bone Corrosion Talisman is an extremely venomous object. If its curse is not lifted in time, it could lead to disaster! You must bring Ye Qiu to me at once."
Upon hearing his master's instructions, Su Mu nodded without hesitation and swiftly hung up the phone.
He turned to face Ye Qiu, his gaze resolute and filled with concern. "Ye Qiu, you remember my master, right? The one who helped us when the Xuanming Sect first tried to harm us—Daoist Xuanji.
He will surely have a way to save your life. We need to set off to find him right away!"
Ye Qiu weakly nodded in agreement.
Though she was enduring excruciating pain from the Bone Corrosion, her will to survive pushed her to struggle to her feet.
However, due to her severe injuries, she swayed unsteadily and nearly collapsed.
Seeing this, Su Mu reacted quickly, rushing forward and lifting Ye Qiu into his arms with utmost care as if she were a precious treasure.
Startled by Su Mu's sudden action, Ye Qiu's cheeks flushed bright red, resembling a ripe apple.
At the same time, Su Mu's heart raced like a small rabbit thumping in his chest; he could distinctly feel its rapid rhythm within him.
But saving her was paramount; he couldn't afford to think of anything else. He tightened his hold on Ye Qiu and hurried towards the SUV parked nearby.
Reaching the vehicle, Su Mu gently placed Ye Qiu in the passenger seat before swiftly returning to the driver's side and starting the engine.
With a roar of the engine, the SUV shot forward like an arrow released from a bow, racing down the road towards where his master Daoist Xuanji awaited.
Along the way, Ye Qiu felt as though her body was being relentlessly torn apart by an invisible force; every inch of her skin and every bone sent waves of excruciating pain coursing through her.
The poison of the Bone Corrosion Talisman was like a fierce beast, mercilessly eroding her body.
Her face was as pale as paper, cold sweat streaming down her forehead, soaking her hair. Even her breathing had become unusually rapid, as if someone had tightened a grip around her throat.
Sitting beside her, Su Mu occasionally turned his head to glance at Ye Qiu. When he saw her in such agony, his heart twisted painfully.
He softly comforted Ye Qiu, urging her to hold on, while pressing the accelerator, wishing he could fly to their destination immediately.
The car sped down the road, the scenery outside rushing past in a blur, but Ye Qiu had no mind to appreciate any of it.
Time ticked by slowly. After what felt like an eternity of grueling hours on the road, the car finally came to a halt.
They arrived at the foot of an ancient mountain, far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, resembling a secluded paradise untouched by the world.
The fresh air was filled with the fragrance of grass and earth, and the surroundings were so quiet that only the occasional chirping of birds could be heard.
Su Mu quickly parked the car and hurried to the other side to open the door, carefully helping Ye Qiu up.
Seeing her body swaying precariously, he did not hesitate to bend down. "My master Daoist Xuanji lives up on the mountain. I'll carry you up."
With that, he gently placed Ye Qiu on his broad back.
Ye Qiu's face instantly flushed red. She wanted to struggle and walk on her own, but she was far too weak to resist.
So she could only obediently lay on Su Mu's back, feeling his warm and sturdy frame beneath her.
Su Mu set off along the winding mountain path with Ye Qiu on his back. The trail was rugged and uneven, littered with stones and potholes.
However, Su Mu moved steadily and quickly, afraid that slowing down would cause Ye Qiu more discomfort.
As they progressed along the path, Ye Qiu's condition worsened. Her consciousness began to blur, her head drooping weakly against Su Mu's shoulder.
Su Mu felt the change in Ye Qiu, and his worries and heartache grew stronger.
Yet he dared not pause for even a moment. Gritting his teeth, he steadily made his way up the mountain, step by step.
It was hard to tell how long they had been walking. The two of them climbed mountains and crossed rivers, enduring countless hardships and obstacles, until they finally arrived at a wooden house that looked quite ancient and weathered.
This wooden house stood alone in a tranquil valley, surrounded by towering trees. Various unknown birds sang joyfully in the branches, while colorful flowers competed for beauty, releasing their fragrant scents. The fresh and pleasant aroma filled the air, making one feel as if they had entered a secluded paradise.
Su Mu cautiously extended his hand and gently knocked on the slightly worn wooden door.
After a short while, an aged voice drifted from inside the house, saying, "Come in."
With permission granted, Su Mu pushed open the door and carefully supported the still weak Ye Qiu as they slowly entered the house.
Inside, although the furnishings were simple and unadorned, everything was spotless and neatly arranged.
In the center of the room stood a medium-sized square table accompanied by several wooden stools.
Against one wall was a row of antique wooden bookshelves filled with numerous yellowed ancient texts.
At that moment, directly opposite the door sat an elderly man with a head of white hair and a beard as silver as snow. He was quietly seated on a tattered mat, his eyes closed as if in deep meditation.
This elder was the legendary Daoist Xuanji.
Upon hearing someone enter, Daoist Xuanji slowly opened his eyes.
His once dull gaze suddenly sparkled with a sharp brilliance at the sight of Ye Qiu.
Then he spoke in a deep voice that resonated with power, asking, " Little Ye?"
Ye Qiu endured the waves of pain coursing through his body and managed to squeeze out a faint smile as he replied, "Yes, senior."
Her voice sounded incredibly weak, as if a candle in the wind could extinguish at any moment.
Daoist Xuanji nodded slightly, then shifted his gaze to Ye Qiu, scrutinizing him carefully.
After a moment, he spoke again, “Show me the Bone-Eating Talisman.” His tone remained steady and calm, betraying no hint of emotional fluctuation.
Su Mu cautiously extended his hands, presenting the talisman that emanated a mysterious glow to Daoist Xuanji.
Daoist Xuanji firmly accepted the talisman, his gaze intense as he began to examine it closely.
He first ran his fingers gently over the complex and intricate patterns on the surface of the talisman, then brought it closer to his nose to inhale the lingering aura it held.
As time passed in observation, Daoist Xuanji’s brow gradually furrowed, forming a shallow crease.
His expression grew increasingly serious, as if he had uncovered some significant secret within this small talisman.
After a considerable pause, Daoist Xuanji finally spoke, “The creator of this talisman possesses remarkable skill...”
Upon hearing this, Ye Qiu and Su Mu felt as if an invisible hand had gripped their hearts, raising them to their throats in an instant.
The two widened their eyes, filled with tension and anticipation, eager to know what Daoist Xuanji would say next.
They stood frozen in place, not daring to breathe, fearful of missing any crucial information.
