Ye Qiu's face was as dark as a stormy sky, her shock and worry surging like a tidal wave after receiving the news about the true intentions of the Xuanming Sect from Li Wenxuan.
Her brows were tightly knitted, veins bulging on her forehead, and her once calm eyes were now filled with anger and vigilance.
Without a moment's hesitation, Ye Qiu sprang into action. She quickly contacted and gathered Captain Zhao and Su Mu.
When the two arrived in haste, Ye Qiu spoke in a low, serious tone, detailing everything she had learned.
"The true intentions of the Xuanming Sect are utterly outrageous!" Ye Qiu took a deep breath and said slowly, "They intend to control the underground water resources of Jianghai City, thereby seizing the economic lifeline of the entire city!
This is nothing short of a meticulously planned conspiracy.
What’s even more despicable is that they plan to poison the underground water veins to incite panic among the populace, forcing the government and major enterprises to bow down to them."
Upon hearing Ye Qiu's account, Captain Zhao was taken aback, his mouth agape as if he could fit an egg inside. "What?!" he exclaimed incredulously. "These monsters are so devoid of humanity that they would joke with the lives of all citizens in Jianghai City!
This involves the survival of millions!" His anger made his chest heave violently, and his hands instinctively clenched into fists.
Beside him, Su Mu felt a chill run down his spine. "This Xuanming Sect is truly terrifying!" he murmured. "If we can't stop their evil deeds in time, Jianghai City may plunge into an abyss from which it cannot recover..."
"The most critical point now is to find out the exact locations where the Xuanming Sect plans to release the poison," Ye Qiu said gravely, her deep-set eyes glinting with determination and urgency.
Li Wenxuan trembled as he explained, "As far as I know, those deranged individuals from the Xuanming Sect will choose to drop their deadly substances at three main sources of underground water: they are located at Wolong Mountain in the east of the city, Phoenix Ridge in the west, and Qingyuan Lake in the south."
Upon hearing this, Captain Zhao gasped sharply and exclaimed, "Heavens! These three places are crucial water sources for our Jianghai City! If they succeed in poisoning them here, the consequences would be unimaginable! The entire city could fall into grave danger."
Ye Qiu nodded slightly in agreement with Captain Zhao's assessment and decisively ordered, "Time is of the essence; we must act without delay! We need to dispatch personnel immediately to these three locations for thorough inspections."
After speaking, she turned to Captain Zhao and continued to assign tasks, "Captain Zhao, you will lead a team to swiftly head to Wolong Mountain and Phoenix Ridge to carry out the mission. You must find a way to capture all the villains from the Xuanming Sect."
Then, Ye Qiu shifted her gaze to Su Mu beside her, speaking in a serious tone, "Su Mu, you will accompany me to Qingyuan Lake. That area is treacherous and the environment is complex; the situation may be more dangerous and difficult than the other two locations. However, I believe that as long as we work together, we can overcome all obstacles and accomplish our mission."
Captain Zhao and Su Mu did not hesitate for a moment and replied in unison, "Yes! We will ensure the mission is completed!" The two then split up according to Ye Qiu's instructions and set off on their respective paths.
Ye Qiu took Su Mu into the car, speeding towards Qingyuan Lake.
Throughout the journey, Ye Qiu's brow remained furrowed, her mood exceptionally heavy.
She was well aware of the daunting nature of this mission; any misstep could not only harm countless innocent civilians but also potentially bring disaster upon the entire city.
Yet even in the face of such immense pressure, Ye Qiu showed no signs of retreat. Her mind was set on one belief—no matter what, she must prevent the Xuanming Sect's conspiracy from succeeding.
She understood that this mission was far more challenging than any previous ones.
Even the slightest mistake could allow the cunning and meticulously planned schemes of the Xuanming Sect to come to fruition.
Qingyuan Lake lay on the southern outskirts of Jianghai City, like a dazzling pearl embedded in the earth.
The lake was vast and expansive, astonishingly wide; its waters were crystal clear. When a gentle breeze swept across, the emerald waves rippled softly, as if a flowing painting unfolded before people's eyes.
Along the lakeside, lush green trees intertwined with one another, forming a natural green barrier.
Sunlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground, adding an air of mystery and charm to the entire scene.
The beautiful scenery truly lifted one's spirits, making it hard to leave.
However, behind this picturesque view lurked a terrifying crisis.
As Ye Qiu and Su Mu hurriedly arrived at the shores of Qingyuan Lake, they were surprised to find that a large number of tourists had already gathered to enjoy the sights.
They blended into the bustling crowd, carefully and attentively observing their surroundings.
"Ye Qiu, look over there!" Suddenly, Su Mu lowered his voice and pointed toward a relatively secluded corner by the lake, whispering.
Ye Qiu quickly followed Su Mu's gaze and indeed saw several figures dressed in black sneaking around inside a small pavilion by the lake.
These individuals moved strangely and hurriedly, seemingly engaged in some secretive and illicit activities.
They were acting furtively, appearing to pour some unknown objects into an old water bucket.
The bucket looked quite heavy, yet they struggled to lift it, slowly making their way toward the shimmering lake, clearly intending to dump its contents into the water.
"That's them!" Ye Qiu whispered sharply to Su Mu beside him, his eyes sharp as an eagle's, locking onto the figures ahead.
Without hesitation, the two shot toward the small pavilion like arrows released from a bow, determined to stop these people's malicious actions.
However, something unexpected happened.
Just as they were only a few steps away from the pavilion, a dozen figures dressed in black suddenly sprang out from the tranquil woods like phantoms.
The black-clad figures moved swiftly and were well-trained, surrounding Ye Qiu and Su Mu in an instant, leaving no room for escape.
"Want to stop us? It's not that easy!" one of the black-clad men sneered, a sinister expression on his face.
His voice seemed to come from the depths of hell, sending chills down their spines. "Today, neither of you will leave here alive!" As soon as he finished speaking, the other black-clad figures brandished their gleaming weapons, ready to engage in a deadly battle with Ye Qiu and Su Mu.
A thrilling and life-or-death confrontation was about to unfold.
Faced with this sudden crisis, Ye Qiu and Su Mu showed no signs of retreat.
On the contrary, they exchanged a glance, instantly understanding each other's intentions. Ye Qiu's figure flickered as he charged like a gale towards one of the black-clad men.
At the same time, Su Mu gracefully leaped into the air, her whip swirling with fierce momentum as she aimed for another enemy's vital points.
Who would ultimately emerge victorious from this fierce battle?
Would Ye Qiu and Su Mu succeed in thwarting the schemes of these villains?
And would the fate of Jianghai City be completely rewritten due to this unexpected incident?
Everything remained shrouded in uncertainty…
