If we were to discuss appearances, it was clear that Shen Li was more attractive. However, beauty is subjective, and liking someone often goes beyond mere looks. In fact, Gao Kang and Zheng Danxian's love seemed purer, as it blossomed in the university setting.
Shen Li felt relieved that she hadn’t dressed too flamboyantly today. Although she believed herself to be prettier than Huang Lin and Zheng Danxian, she remained humble and respectful towards both of them. It must be said that Shen Li was quite adept at navigating social situations.
"Shall we go in?" Shen Li suggested.
"Let’s wait a bit longer; Brother Jun hasn’t arrived yet," Liu Ying replied.
At that moment, only Shen Li was present, and she knew little about Jiang Chen. Liu Ying had intended to share information about Jiang Chen with Shen Li but hesitated since they had only recently confirmed their relationship. However, Liu Ying felt guilty for withholding this information from Shen Li. Thus, she decided to introduce Shen Li to Jiang Chen at this gathering, allowing Jiang Chen to weigh in on the situation. If Jiang Chen had no objections, Liu Ying planned to have a good conversation with Shen Li later that night.
Although Shen Li didn’t have any particular impression of Jiang Chen, he was still a friend of Liu Ying and the others. Regardless of his circumstances, she couldn’t afford to underestimate him.
Shen Li glanced at Huang Lin and Zheng Danxian, deciding to observe their attitudes toward Jiang Chen first.
"I’ll give him a call," Wang Shun Yuan said.
Wang Shun Yuan dialed Jiang Chen’s number. At that moment, Jiang Chen was still waiting for Lin Bingbing to finish her makeup.
"You all can sit in the private room for a bit; I’ll be there in half an hour," Jiang Chen said.
After hanging up the phone, Wang Shun Yuan shrugged and smiled. "Looks like we should go in and sit down; Jiang Chen will take another half hour."
Shen Li frowned slightly. As someone who valued punctuality, she felt a bit dissatisfied with those who were late. However, seeing that everyone else seemed unconcerned, she chose not to voice her thoughts but couldn’t help but think that it was no wonder Jiang Chen struggled socially if he could be half an hour late for a gathering with friends.
Once inside the private room, everyone settled down to chat.
"By the way, does Jiang Chen have a girlfriend?" Huang Lin suddenly asked.
"He probably doesn’t; I asked Brother Jun about it before the New Year," Liu Ying replied.
"Then is it appropriate for us women to join this gathering?" Huang Lin wondered aloud.
"It’s fine," Wang Shun Yuan reassured her with a smile.
"What if I introduce a girlfriend to Jiang Chen?" Shen Li chimed in playfully.
Shen Li didn’t mean much by it; she just wanted to join the conversation. However, her comment drew curious looks from Wang Shun Yuan and the others.
"I’m serious! There’s a beautiful woman at my company who’s the PR manager named Shang Yan. She’s stunning and highly educated and capable. Liu Ying knows her too, and Jiang Chen met her last time," Shen Li quickly clarified, thinking that Wang Shun Yuan and the others might have thought she was joking.
"The manager of the Public Relations Department must be very beautiful, haha. However, she might not be suitable for Jiang Chen. By the way, what are the signature dishes at this restaurant?" Wang Shun Yuan laughed, changing the subject. It was clear that Shen Li didn't know much about Jiang Chen, and Wang Shun Yuan didn't want to continue this awkward topic.
