New Year's Day.
The Lantern Festival had passed, and the festive atmosphere gradually faded away. The cities of Huaxia became lively and bustling again, with students heading to school and office workers going about their jobs, everything proceeding in an orderly manner.
Jiang Chen took the high-speed train and got off at the West Station of the capital city. His first stop was naturally to find Qin Xunsha and his younger sister Jiang Lu. The second stop was to meet Zeng Xianyi to help Ling Mingzi find disciples. The third stop would be to leverage Zeng Xianyi and Qin Xiaoya's connections to search for the Heavenly Mechanism Twin Rings in the capital.
At the West Station, Jiang Chen hailed a taxi and headed straight for Capital City University.
In the last semester of his senior year, there were hardly any classes left, and most of the time was spent writing his graduation thesis.
"Brother, you came so quickly? Aren't you going to spend more time with Sister Bingbing?" Jiang Lu, who was busy writing her thesis in her dormitory, exclaimed upon answering Jiang Chen's call. When she heard that he was right outside her dormitory door, she couldn't help but speak in an exaggerated tone.
"Yeah, Brother Jun, why didn't you stay a few more days in Liu Fei City?" Qin Xunsha chimed in as soon as she heard Jiang Chen had arrived, her voice tinged with a hint of jealousy. Although she knew Jiang Chen didn't have those feelings for her, hearing from Jiang Lu that he was living with Lin Bingbing made her feel a bit sour. No wonder he hadn’t returned to Ningzhou during the New Year, she thought.
"Of course I have to spend more time with my two lovely sisters! Today just happens to be free, so I can hang out with you in the capital," Jiang Chen replied with a smile. He regarded Qin Xunsha as a sister too, so he had no such intentions.
"Great! Brother, can we invite our other roommates too?" Jiang Lu asked excitedly.
"Of course! The more, the merrier," Jiang Chen said with a grin. Having more people around didn't matter to him at all.
After hanging up, Jiang Lu excitedly told her roommates in the dormitory, "Come on, everyone stop studying! My brother is here and is taking us out to explore the capital today. Let's relax!"
"What? Brother Jiang is here? That's awesome!" Xu Xin exclaimed as she quickly took off her headphones, her face filled with excitement.
"Xin Xin, why are you even more excited than I am? Are you thinking about my brother?" Jiang Lu pretended to be shocked.
"Of course! Your brother is my idol. You often talk about how amazing he is; I definitely want to see him more," Xu Xin said with sparkling eyes, filled with admiration.
"But don't forget that you already have a boyfriend. Aren't you afraid he'll get jealous?" Jiang Lu teased.
"If you let me be your sister-in-law, I'll immediately ditch Wang Xiao," Xu Xin said seriously.
"I would love that! But my brother wouldn't agree. What can I do? So, Xin Xin, you'd better not think too much about it; my brother is a man you can't have," Jiang Lu laughed.
"Then I'll just admire him from afar like a piece of art; that's good enough," Xu Xin sighed dramatically, causing everyone in the dormitory to burst into laughter.
The three girls were putting on quite a show. The four girls in Jiang Lu's dorm had been together for over three years now—sharing secrets and laughter in their cozy little world.
After tidying themselves up a bit, they locked their dormitory door and chatted happily as they made their way to the entrance of the girls' dormitory, where they spotted Jiang Chen standing under a tree.
Jiang Chen indeed looked very young; standing there, passersby might think he was just an ordinary college student.
"Brother..." Jiang Lu waved at him from afar.
"Brother Jiang..." Qin Xunsha also waved at him.
