In this vibrant scene filled with the essence of life, Jiang Chen could tell from the gestures and conversations of the girls that Qin Shasha and Jiang Lu had been enjoying their university life immensely over the past few years. Xu Xin's gaze instantly focused on Jiang Chen. She looked at him with bright eyes, as if she saw shining stars in him. Without hesitation, she declared, "Brother Jiang, actually, you are my idol. I love you." After saying this, she showed no signs of shyness; her eyes were filled with admiration and respect for Jiang Chen, like a fervent fan standing before her idol, expressing her feelings without reservation.
"You’re not shy at all," Jiang Lu remarked, looking at Xu Xin with a mix of teasing and deep affection, as if she were already accustomed to Xu Xin's quirky nature.
"What's there to be shy about? My brother is the sun in my heart, my idol. It's perfectly normal to love your idol, right? Don’t you all have idols?" Xu Xin's candidness made Jiang Chen shake his head with a wry smile. Her straightforward personality stood out among the group like a breath of fresh air, dispelling any awkwardness and allowing everyone to relax.
"My brother is my idol," Jiang Lu stated firmly and proudly.
"Brother Jiang is also our idol," Qin Shasha and Chen Wenjing chimed in, their eyes sincere without any pretense.
"Xu Xin, you should admire my brother from afar like an artwork. I’m afraid if you become too infatuated with him, your boyfriend will go crazy," Jiang Lu said to Xu Xin with a hint of jest but underlying concern. She didn’t want Xu Xin to get caught up in unnecessary emotional entanglements; after all, Jiang Chen held an irreplaceable position in her heart as her brother.
"How about this, Brother Jiang? I’ll recognize you as my godbrother!" Xu Xin suddenly suggested, her expression serious. Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as if this was a well-considered decision. Her proposal left everyone around her stunned; Jiang Lu and the others stared at Xu Xin in disbelief. This girl truly acted on impulse without any reservations about expressing her thoughts.
Jiang Chen chuckled lightly; his smile was warm and inclusive, capable of dissolving any awkwardness. "You’re good friends with Jiang Lu and Shasha; that makes you half my sister already. There’s no need for formalities." His voice was gentle yet firm, respecting Xu Xin's feelings while cleverly avoiding any potential misunderstandings.
"Hehe, that’s perfect then! Brother Jiang, where are you taking us today?" Xu Xin asked playfully, her voice laced with excitement. Today she sported a princess cut hairstyle with two ponytails; it suited her face shape perfectly and made her look adorable. Coupled with her boldness in being cute and playful, Jiang Chen found himself caught off guard by Xu Xin's charm. He looked at her with a hint of fondness but also some helplessness.
"What places do you want to visit?" Jiang Chen countered, eager to hear what these lively girls had in mind for new adventures.
"How about the Summer Palace? It’s the closest to us," Chen Wenjing suggested cautiously, considering everyone's convenience.
"I don’t want to go to the Summer Palace; it’s fine for summer visits but not now. How about we go to Houhai instead?" Xu Xin wrinkled her nose slightly, clearly uninterested in the Summer Palace. A mischievous glint flickered in her eyes as if trying to add weight to her suggestion.
"Houhai would be nice in the evening; how about we go to Capital Ward?" Qin Shasha proposed hesitantly, weighing the pros and cons of each option.
"I think Capital Ward sounds better too; after all, we are artsy youth," Jiang Lu agreed with a smile, pride evident in her expression as if she had found the perfect justification for her choice.
"Alright then, let’s go to Capital Ward and head to Houhai for drinks later," Xu Xin declared decisively as if she had made up her mind about today’s itinerary.
"Then let’s go," Jiang Chen said with a smile as he looked at these energetic girls, feeling warmth swell within him. He knew that spending time with them would be filled with joy and surprises.
"Brother, should we invite Sister Qin?" Jiang Lu asked as she naturally linked arms with Jiang Chen. The Sister Qin she referred to was Qin Xiaoya. To avoid confusion, she called Qin Shasha "Sister Shasha." Her eyes sparkled with anticipation as if hoping her brother would share this happiness with more friends.
"If you want to invite her, go ahead," Jiang Chen replied with a smile; he understood who Jiang Lu wanted to call. He knew his sister always wished for those around them to gather together and enjoy this rare moment of reunion.
"Then I’ll call her," Jiang Lu said eagerly as she pulled out her phone and quickly messaged Qin Xiaoya. Her fingers danced across the screen impatiently; she knew that having Qin Xiaoya join would make this afternoon even livelier and more fun.
