"Where is it?"
"Down below." Xiao Hei had already jumped onto the small deck, sniffing towards the Lava Sea.
"Let's go down and take a look." Mo Wen took out several talismans he had found on Gong Gan; these talismans were similar to water-repelling ones. Such talismans were also sold at Huo Lou, but they were quite expensive, and each could only last half an hour. After careful consideration, he had decided not to purchase them. The talismans from Gong Gan were of a higher grade than those he had seen at Huo Lou; they seemed to have been specially crafted. The Magic Circle and the talisman could block the erosion of lava, but they could not prevent the effects of the chaotic realm, which was exactly what he needed right now. He cradled Xiao Hei in one arm and jumped into the lava.
The chaotic realm had vanished.
"Are you ready?" On the Xing Zhou, a person and a beast surrounded a bag.
"Boss, open it up! Let this Qilin see what's inside," Xiao Hei exclaimed excitedly.
Mo Wen opened the layers of storage bags, took a quick glance, and immediately sealed it again. Even that brief look left him feeling dizzy; Xiao Hei was still sniffing around. Inside the bag were the pearls they had retrieved from the seabed, each about the size of a soup bowl and milky white in color. The peculiar chaotic energy emanated from them.
They had descended to a depth of about a hundred feet to reach these pearls, which was the longest distance Mo Wen had ever traversed, taking a full three hours to resurface, nearly exhausting him. The interference from the chaotic energy exceeded Mo Wen's expectations; even though Xiao Hei was right in his arms when they reached the seabed, their ability to communicate telepathically had failed due to the chaos. Fortunately, they had discussed non-verbal communication methods before diving. For the next hundred feet, they could only rely on scent and touch to gradually approach each other. If it weren't for his Divine Sea cultivation, Mo Wen felt he might not have been able to withstand the erosion of chaotic energy, especially when he touched one of the pearls. He decided to open his eyes again for confirmation; under extreme fatigue, it felt as if his entire Divine Sea was about to be overturned.
"Xiao Hei, what does it smell like?" Mo Wen sealed up the pearl and looked at Xiao Hei.
"Well, it doesn't taste as good as Beast Leg," Xiao Hei replied. Hearing this made Mo Wen helpless; right from the start, this guy wanted to see what the pearl really looked like and insisted on opening the bag for a look. Mo Wen also wanted to see what it was, so he decided to open it for research but didn't expect Xiao Hei to still be as timid as ever.
After resting on the small boat for a while, Mo Wen decided to dive down again. The pearl was the source of the chaotic realm, but so far it did not seem to be a living thing; how could it be so elusive? Before long, Mo Wen surfaced with a massive skeleton from the sea. According to his memory, that pearl was found in this skeleton's abdomen. Previously affected by chaotic energy, he hadn't noticed this skeleton; it had already suffered damage from lava erosion and appeared broken. Judging by the signs of erosion, this creature must have died many years ago and held no practical value anymore. He stored away the beast bones; although they were not useful now, they might help in researching the secrets of the chaotic realm.
"Boss, although this round thing can't be eaten, we should still give it a name," Xiao Hei said as he examined the bag in their cabin and found treasure inside; he was excited because he could enjoy another feast soon.
"As a reward for discovering it, I'll grant you the honor of naming it," Mo Wen said; compared to names, he was more concerned about what this thing could actually do.
"The chaotic realm arose because of it and it's round like a pearl; let's call it Chaotic Pearl," Xiao Hei suggested while tilting his head at Mo Wen.
"Alright." Mo Wen sat down in the cabin and steered Xing Zhou forward.
"Does that mean we can have another feast?"
"Of course."
