After a long day of activity, I went to bed early. When I woke up in the morning, a strange red hue had enveloped the entire city.
The mobile signal was intermittent, and Zhang Hao and Lin Mengyi seemed unusually anxious.
"Su Qing, hurry to the warehouse; the weather seems off," Lin Mengyi urged, pulling at my arm with an unmistakable hint of impatience in her voice.
I nodded. "Okay."
On the way, Zhang Hao drove noticeably faster, the tires screeching against the pavement. I noticed him glancing at me through the rearview mirror, his eyes flickering with uncertainty.
Upon arriving at the warehouse, the sound of the iron door creaking open echoed sharply in the still air. Inside, the place was completely empty; all the expired supplies we had received earlier were gone.
"What’s going on?" I turned to ask.
"Bang!"
Before I could finish my sentence, a sudden sharp pain shot through the back of my head. I staggered a few steps, my consciousness gradually fading.
Just before I collapsed, I saw Zhang Hao holding a metal rod, a sinister smile spreading across his face.
I don’t know how much time passed before I slowly regained consciousness. A cold sensation wrapped around my ankles; a chain was tightly securing me to a water pipe against the wall.
"Zhang Hao! Lin Mengyi!" I shouted their names, but all that greeted me was the echo in the empty warehouse.
Suddenly, a piercing scream rang out from afar, followed by a chorus of cries. The ringtone of my phone cut through the silence like a knife.
Struggling, I fished my phone out of my pocket; it was a call from Zhang Hao.
"Hello, Su Qing, are you awake?" His voice dripped with arrogance and cruelty. "Do you like the doomsday welcome ceremony I've arranged for you?"
"Why?" I questioned, "Haven't I been good enough to you?"
On the other end of the line, Lin Mengyi's sharp laughter echoed back: "Who cares about your goodness? You're just an idiot! We've toyed with you for so many years; just thinking about it feels great! Hahaha!"
Zhang Hao took over the conversation, "Su Qing, do you think everyone is as foolish as you? I've tolerated you for so long just for today!"
"Why would a spatial ability awaken in a useless person like you?" Lin Mengyi gritted her teeth, "Seeing you act all high and mighty makes me sick!"
"So, are you planning to just leave me here to die?" My voice turned cold.
"What else?" Zhang Hao laughed maniacally. "We've already hidden away, waiting for that group of zombies outside to come and bite you to death. By then, the spatial ability in your jade pendant will naturally transfer to us!"
I sneered, "Is that all you've got?"
The laughter on the other end of the phone abruptly stopped.
"What did you say?"
"Do you really think I would be stupid enough to buy supplies as old as your grandmother with real money? Do you think I would be foolish enough not to make any preparations?"
I stood up and easily broke the iron chain on my foot.
I pulled out the jade pendant from my pocket and casually tossed it on the ground. "I suggest you pray right now, pray that when the apocalypse comes, you don’t run into me. Otherwise... you'll regret being alive."
As I pushed open the fire exit door, a piercing scream echoed from afar.
Enjoy the apocalypse, you worthless scum.
This time, let’s see how many days you can survive!

I stood on a distant high-rise building, playing with a pair of binoculars, a cold smile tugging at my lips.
Zhang Hao and Lin Mengyi paced back and forth in the warehouse, their voices coming through the phone I had left behind: "Su Qing! Get out here!"
I watched them flail around like headless flies in the warehouse.
Suddenly, Zhang Hao spotted the jade pendant on the ground and quickly picked it up, holding it tightly in his palm, greed flashing in his eyes.
"Quick! Try to see if you can activate the space!" Lin Mengyi urged impatiently.
Zhang Hao followed my earlier example, pressing the jade pendant against his forehead and closing his eyes to begin his attempt.
A minute passed, and nothing happened.
"What’s going on? Why isn’t it working?"
Lin Mengyi paced anxiously in circles.
"Shut up! Let me try again!" Zhang Hao was already sweating profusely.
At that moment, a piercing scream echoed from outside the warehouse. I watched as the two of them froze in place, their faces turning pale in an instant.
"Zombies!" Lin Mengyi screamed, ready to dash outside, only to find that the iron door of the warehouse wouldn’t budge.
"Why won’t the door open?" Zhang Hao frantically shook the doorknob.
I gently touched the watch on my wrist, a little gadget I had prepared that could remotely control the magnetic lock. As for the fire escape door, I had long since used my abilities to seal it tightly with cement.
"Bang!"
A rotting zombie smashed through the warehouse's glass window and staggered inside. Following closely were a second and a third...
"It's over..." Lin Mengyi collapsed to the ground, tears streaming down her face. "We're trapped."
Zhang Hao glanced at the jade pendant in his hand and then at the approaching zombies. He pushed Lin Mengyi forward with urgency. "You go distract them!"
"Zhang Hao! You bastard!" Lin Mengyi screamed, trying to run back but was firmly held back by Zhang Hao.
I coldly observed everything unfolding before me. Once a loving couple, they now tore at each other like two rabid dogs.
"Su Qing! Is this your doing? You bitch!" Zhang Hao roared into thin air.
I spoke softly into my phone, which was still connected. "Zhang Hao, you can’t seriously think I would be foolish enough to believe you? From the moment you decided to turn against me, I’ve been waiting for this day."
Seeing their terrified expressions, I continued, "Enjoy this apocalyptic feast. This is just the beginning; I promise... every day from now on, you will regret your choices made today."
The horde of zombies had completely surrounded them. Amid their desperate screams, I turned and walked away.
