With Ye Xiaoying's strength, being several hundred meters deep underwater shouldn't be fatal; her disappearance must have another cause. After all, there was some acquaintance between them. While Jiang Chen wasn't particularly interested in the treasure, he felt compelled to rescue her.
"How long has Ye Jian Sheng been missing?" Jiang Chen asked.
"Two days. The treasure has been elusive, and both the United States and Islanders are considering using explosives to blast open that underwater entrance. They can't obtain it from our side of the East China Sea, and they don't want us to have it either. Their intentions are malicious," Zeng Xianyi said indignantly.
"Two days?" Jiang Chen frowned. Being in the deep sea for two days meant Ye Xiaoying was likely in a dire situation.
"Why didn't you say this sooner? Never mind, let's not waste time; we need to head over immediately," Jiang Chen said.
Zeng Xianyi looked helpless. Ye Xiaoying was considered a semi-official figure, and this incident wasn't under Zeng Xianyi's jurisdiction. He had no idea that Ye Xiaoying had gone to the East China Sea until he received notification after her accident.
However, with Ye Xiaoying missing for several hours underwater, Zeng Xianyi knew it was too late. A powerhouse like Ye Xiaoying could only last about fifteen minutes at such depths, leading him to conclude that she was already dead. Informing Jiang Chen seemed pointless since she was likely gone, but since Jiang Chen happened to be there, Zeng Xianyi decided to update him on the situation.
Zeng Xianyi hoped Jiang Chen would take action to intimidate the Islanders and Americans into withdrawing from the East China Sea. Of course, it would be even better if Jiang Chen were willing to dive down and retrieve the treasure. As for Ye Xiaoying, the chances of survival were almost zero.
Zeng Xianyi could only express his regret, but Jiang Chen's anxiousness to save Ye Xiaoying touched him. Although Jiang Chen usually appeared cold and indifferent, beneath that icy exterior lay a warm heart.
Zeng Xianyi felt he understood Jiang Chen a little better now.
"What about the Heavenly Mechanism Twin Rings?" Zeng Xianyi asked.
"We'll discuss that later," Jiang Chen replied.
"Young Master, can I come along to see?" Qin Xiaoya asked, suppressing her excitement. Ever since becoming Jiang Chen's maid, her main task had been taking care of Jiang Lu, and she hadn't had the chance to witness any grand events with Jiang Chen. This opportunity was rare, and she was eager to participate.
"It would be good for you to see," Jiang Chen nodded.
"Grandpa, where are you all going in such a hurry?" Zeng Wenwen curiously asked as she saw her grandfather rushing out.
"To handle something important," Zeng Xianyi replied before getting into Qin Xiaoya's car. They headed to the military district to catch a flight toward the coast and then take a boat out to sea; it would likely take until tomorrow to arrive.
"Zeng Lao, let’s have the plane fly directly to the East China Sea," Jiang Chen suggested.
"But we won't be able to land there; if we want to get down, we'll have to parachute," Zeng Xianyi explained.
"Don't worry; I have a plan," Jiang Chen assured him.
"Well, okay then." Zeng Xianyi nodded slightly. Although he was older, his parachuting skills were top-notch. Despite the dangers of skydiving over the ocean, he was not afraid.
As for Jiang Chen, Zeng Xianyi had no worries. Jiang Chen was incredibly capable and would surely find a way—perhaps even jump directly from the plane.
Watching their grandfather leave, Zeng Wenwen and the others couldn't help but feel even more curious.
"I wonder what Grandpa is going to do?"
"Let's not meddle in Grandpa's affairs. By the way, what did you all think about that painting earlier?"
