“Oh, it’s those little balls hanging from you,” Quan pointed at the several spherical pouches attached to Mo Wen. These pouches contained the Confusion Pearls, which he had yet to decide how to dispose of, so he had strung them together with a Beast Tendon.
“Uh…” Mo Wen was taken aback that Quan wanted the Confusion Pearls; he was momentarily at a loss for words.
“Since you’ve been listening to my story so attentively, we can make an exchange,” Quan said. Mo Wen was speechless; it seemed that if he hadn’t been paying attention, Quan would have simply taken them by force.
“Junior has three requests. First, please tell Junior what this item is; second, Junior came here to fetch water and hopes to receive some; third, Junior needs to keep one pearl.” Since Quan mentioned an exchange, there was no need for politeness.
“Hmm… Old Man will agree to your first two conditions, but as for the third one, Old Man cannot comply.” Quan pondered for a moment. “Keeping this item on you will bring you nine harms for every one benefit.”
“Please enlighten me, Senior!” Mo Wen was startled by Quan’s words.
“This pearl is from a Lava Clam. The Lava Clam uses its power to hunt, and it can cause tremendous damage to your Shen Hun, physical body, and Bloodline.” Quan waved his hand, and one of the pouches floated onto the table. A pearl flew out from the storage pouch and landed in Quan’s hand. The pearl did not emit any chaotic energy while in his grasp. “So Old Man will take it all, but I can’t just take it for free.” As he spoke, a pendant-like charm floated up from the spring water below him. “You can keep this; consider it fulfilling your third request. Putting this on that Little Guy will conceal its Bloodline aura.”
“As for your request for water, Old Man could have agreed, but now you’ll need to offer something in exchange. I need a fruit tree; don’t you think my garden lacks some vitality?” Upon hearing Quan’s request for a tree, Mo Wen finally felt relieved. There were plenty of trees in the Square Inch World; even ten wouldn’t be a problem.
“Uh… Senior, this…” Mo Wen initially wanted to say that Quan was making things difficult for him.
“Now Old Man needs ten trees.”
“Alright, I’ll comply with Senior’s request.” It seemed that his Square Inch World had been exposed, and Mo Wen felt a wave of frustration.
“Boss, are we really just leaving like this?” Xiao Hei asked in confusion. Given the boss's character of taking advantage of every opportunity, why hadn’t he taken anything when that spirit said they could take whatever they wanted?
“Compared to my life, everything else is insignificant,” Mo Wen sighed. He looked at those items with envy himself; however, he had made an agreement with Quan first. Quan had essentially fulfilled all three of his requests. At the last moment, Quan had offered up his long-held collection for Mo Wen to choose from freely, which gave him an uneasy feeling. The key was that those collectibles were clearly items meant for others’ use; how could he possibly trade them with Quan? Even if he exchanged them for water, without those useful items, it would be difficult to survive outside. Therefore, Mo Wen concluded that he couldn’t take any of those items; once he did, his own belongings might very well become part of Quan’s collection.
“We need to be careful from now on. Without the Confusion Pearls, Boss can’t handle those guys.” Having returned all the Confusion Pearls to Quan, if what Quan said was true, then even if he didn’t trade with him for the pearls, he probably wouldn’t dare keep them close by anyway.
