Every time I thought I had everything under control, unexpected situations would throw me off balance. Sometimes, I realized I was being overly cautious. If the Fire Lotus was indeed the only method available, then the Lava Demon should have reacted by now after all this time I spent here. Moreover, my current location was not far from where the spring mentioned.
As the boat moved slowly forward, my teeth chattered from the intensity of the heat. I had underestimated the ferocity of this sea of flames; the burning pain penetrated to my bones, akin to enduring another trial by fire. "Who on earth wrote this? How could they not mention such a situation!" I cursed silently in my heart. Glancing at the bow of the boat, Xiao Hei seemed completely unfazed, intently observing what lay ahead.
"Boss! There's someone inside sleeping soundly," Xiao Hei called out as we neared the fiery scene. My eyes caught sight of a snow-white lotus floating not far away, but before I could celebrate, Xiao Hei continued, "Also, that lotus you wanted is right above that guy's cave. I couldn't see what he looked like; he seems to have some ability to block detection."
Beneath the calm surface of the central Lava lake, a two-headed Demon Beast lay fast asleep in a cave, and Xiao Hei had failed to discern its appearance. "Good!" The pain forced me to keep my responses brief. The bone-deep agony intensified over time, yet it seemed that my adaptation period was shortening with each passing moment. However, traversing this short distance of ten miles took a full ten days. As for that sleeping creature, as long as it wasn't a Chimera, I would be fine.
"Finally made it!" Looking at the tranquil Lava ahead, Mo Wen let out a sigh of relief. Just as he began to exhale fully after crossing the boundary line between hot and cold, he abruptly swallowed back his breath due to the shock of temperature change. Yet this chill felt oddly familiar; it reminded him of being trapped in the Bei Yin Mountain maze, as if even the Divine Sea could freeze over.
"Little Guy, this is as far as I can help you," said the spring sitting in its palace, estimating the time. The Little Guy should have arrived by now; at least he could report back now. However, he couldn't understand why his master had arranged things this way instead of simply handing it over.
The sea of flames behind me had shrunk to half its original size, and that two-headed Demon Beast did not pursue us. Looking at the three boxes in my hands, I finally released the breath I'd been holding. Although this treasure-hunting journey did not involve battling that two-headed Demon Beast or even seeing its form throughout, it was far from easy. I had to remain vigilant against sudden attacks while contending with both ice and fire. After a month’s time, it finally came to an end—this was the longest treasure hunt I had ever experienced. All in all, it turned out to be an adventure filled with tension but without real danger.
Stretching my body after enduring both the scorching heat and the chilling aura emitted by the Fire Lotus felt indescribably pleasant. I yawned and released Xiao Hei from the Square Inch World as we vanished into the crimson Lava.
"Mr. Bao, do you think that young friend will..." Zhu Chi looked at the man sitting across from him who was drooling over a Wine Flask; this person was none other than Mr. Bao, the black-robed Bucktooth Taoist from Neural Pavilion in Yinzhou City.
