"Now it's up to your fate!" Whether the Fire Lotus would be effective was uncertain, but it was worth a try. The Fire Lotus could only be consumed whole, regardless of its size, and the same applied to alchemy. This time, he had gathered three: one large and two small. He planned to give one to Elder Zhu, leaving himself with two. Anyone would want more of such a rare material born from nature; if it weren't for the warning he received earlier about only being able to take half, lest unexpected "surprises" occur, he wouldn't have left anything for that sleeping fellow.
"Xiao Hei, if this doesn't work, you’ll have to compensate me for my losses." Using the Fire Lotus to heal Zhu Xiaohong was Xiao Hei's suggestion. This guy had a knack for seeing through people's hearts, and in the end, Mo Wen chose to trust him because he had exhausted all his other options.
"Boss, don't worry! The memories my master left me are definitely reliable. Just wait for her to wake up and offer herself to you," Xiao Hei puffed out his chest confidently. His master had informed him that the Fire Lotus could heal Law injuries; there was no way his master could be wrong about such matters.
"Get lost!" This guy was getting more insufferable by the day. Mo Wen resolved once again not to show him any more storybooks. He had made this decision many times before but ultimately succumbed to Xiao Hei's persistent nagging. The Lava Sea was just too dull; aside from his keen sense of smell, Xiao Hei seemed to serve no other purpose. He clung to Mo Wen, begging him for stories. After telling stories repeatedly, it seemed they had run dry, so he tossed a few books at him instead. However, Xiao Hei showed no interest in anything other than storybooks. Sighing inwardly, Mo Wen thought that not giving him books would mean tossing all of them away; as long as he had books on him, Xiao Hei would find a way to read them.
"I hope this works for you." Glancing at the still unconscious Zhu Xiaohong, he knew that Law injuries were not easily healed. The Fire Lotus could treat Law injuries but was ineffective against Origin Laws of the Five Elements or higher. Even when treating high-level Law injuries, according to ancient texts, many supplementary materials were needed to concoct an effective elixir. He had no idea how effective consuming it directly would be.
Zhu Xiaohong opened her eyes. She only remembered following her father's map to retrieve the Fire Lotus. As she approached a location where it might appear, she finally succumbed and fainted due to prolonged conflict with Law energies. Logically speaking, she should have merged with the Lava by now; perhaps she hadn't been unconscious for long. However, everything around her seemed vastly different from before she fainted—a fiery red sphere appeared before her eyes, followed by a disheveled face.
"Who are you? Why are you on my ship?" Zhu Xiaohong sat up abruptly and reached for her sword, only to realize it was missing.
"Boss, you really foresaw this by sealing her meridians." The two stepped back as the suddenly enraged woman startled Xiao Hei; he couldn't help but admire his boss—clearly, he must have done this kind of thing before.
"Who are you?" Zhu Xiaohong tried to channel her energy but found all her meridians sealed off; panic set in even more.
"Zhu Xiaohong?"
"Who are you!" The scruffy man across from her knew her name, which surprised Zhu Xiaohong greatly. Did he search her soul? That was impossible; a cultivator skilled in soul-searching couldn't possibly be here. At the same time, she felt as if invisible eyes were watching her intently.
