"You left, so who's going to deal with all those ridiculous rumors?"
I was speechless.
Wasn't this mess created by him in the first place?
Why was he blaming me?
"Ma Tao, are you three years old?" I asked him coldly. "Have you forgotten that you're the boss of a company?"
"You!" He exploded with anger. "Get lost!"
"Fine." I turned and walked away.
I had completely fallen out with Ma Tao.
I told Ran Ran, "We're done for good."
"Huh?" Ran Ran exclaimed in surprise. "Did you get the money?"
"It's in my hands." I lowered my gaze to my shoelaces.
I wasn't feeling great.
Even though the money was secured, something still felt off.
Ran Ran cheered, "That's awesome! Come on, let's go have some fun!"
"Okay." I also wanted to unwind a bit.
Ran Ran and I headed to a nightclub to dance the night away.
In the deafening music, I let myself go.
As the drinks went down, I gradually became more sober.
I seemed to be a love-struck fool.
With money readily available, I was instead caught up in the tangled web of romance.
I pulled Ran Ran aside and whispered, “Ran Ran, do you think if I agree to Ma Tao's conditions, he would take me back?”
“Ah?” Ran Ran exclaimed in surprise, “What conditions?”
“To support me,” I said quietly, “two million a month.”
“Are you kidding me?” Ran Ran shouted, “Isn't that even more than our initial target?”
I nodded, “Yeah.”
“Then what are you hesitating for?”
“But I don’t want him to think I’m with him just for the money.”
Ran Ran looked at me in disbelief, “Didn’t you say that as long as there’s money, it’s fine?”
“That was just for show; I actually have my standards.”
“What standards?”
I pondered for a moment, “He must truly love me.”
Ran Ran facepalmed, “I don’t understand you anymore.”
On the way home, I felt a heavy gloom hanging over me.
As I watched the scenery retreating outside the window, tears began to fall.
"Don't worry," Ran Ran said, hugging me tightly. "We don't need him, not one man."
"I know," I choked out, "but it still hurts inside."
"Why is that?"
"I feel guilty towards him," I sobbed. "I believe he must hate me now."
The driver in front turned his head and said, "Miss, there are countless men in the world. Why hang yourself on one tree?"
I shook my head. "He’s not just any tree."
The blow of heartbreak was too much to bear.
I lay in bed for several days.
Every day was filled with drinking.
The house reeked of alcohol, and I got completely wasted.
Seeing me like this, Ran Ran couldn't take it anymore and dragged me to the bathroom to wash my face.
She splashed cold water on my face. "Are you awake now?"
"I'm awake," I said, shrinking my neck away from her attack.
She glared at me with disappointment. "Yu Lixuan, you really let me down!"
"Isn't it just a breakup? Why make yourself so miserable over it?"
"Look at you now; you don't even resemble a wealthy young lady anymore."
I lowered my gaze to my shoelaces, remaining silent.
She poked my forehead. "Get a grip!"
"You have money, and you still have savings."
"Find something to do; don't let yourself be idle."
"Otherwise, you'll sink deeper into this."
"Do you understand?"
"I understand," I replied softly.
After hearing Ran Ran's words, I decided to take action.
I took out twelve million and bought a scrap recycling company.
Then I went to the business administration office to handle the change of ownership.
Finally, I took a tour around the company.
I changed the legal representative to my own name.
And then I officially took over the company.
