“Mr. Jiang, my direct disciple, I will take my time to find one, but in the meantime, I can accept another disciple. Having more disciples is always a good thing. As for talent, I don't think it's the most important factor,” Ling Mingzi said with a smile.
“That makes sense,” Jiang Chen nodded with a smile. Indeed, it was reasonable for Ling Mingzi to want to take on more disciples, and Jiang Chen would naturally not object.
“Which young person do you have in mind?” Jiang Chen asked.
“The youngest granddaughter of Zeng Xianyi, Zeng Wenwen,” Ling Mingzi replied.
“Great! I will talk to Zeng Xianyi about it. He will surely agree, but I suspect the little girl might not be too happy about it,” Jiang Chen chuckled.
“Becoming a Taoist priest isn't a bad thing. The little girl will understand that in time,” Ling Mingzi said.
Jiang Chen stepped out of the painting and put away the image of the mountain temple, conveying Ling Mingzi's intention to Zeng Xianyi.
Zeng Xianyi was naturally overjoyed. Although she wouldn't be a direct disciple, being able to become Ling Mingzi's disciple was still an honor.
“I'll talk to Wenwen tonight. Mr. Jiang, Master Ling Mingzi, is there any ceremony required for her to become a disciple?” Zeng Xianyi asked.
“Of course there needs to be a ceremony, but for now, the priority is to persuade your granddaughter,” Jiang Chen replied.
“I will convince her,” Zeng Xianyi assured confidently.
After a moment, Zeng Xianyi changed the subject and inquired about the underwater treasure.
Jiang Chen didn't hide anything and explained the situation to Zeng Xianyi. Although she was astonished, she accepted it; after all, having known Jiang Chen for a long time, she had become accustomed to all sorts of unbelievable events.
“Mr. Jiang, don't worry. I will protect the Sea God Clan and ensure that no one disturbs that area of the sea,” Zeng Xianyi promised.
“That would be best,” Jiang Chen said with a smile of appreciation and affirmation.
Later that evening, Jiang Chen returned to the Falling Snow Courtyard. This trip to the East China Sea had been very fruitful. He took some Spirit Fire Stones from the Storage Jade Gourd, which he had requested from Xin Ku Yang.
Jiang Chen began setting up the Gathering Spirit Formation in the Falling Snow Courtyard. The Earth's Spiritual Energy was gradually diminishing, but thanks to Jiang Chen's extraordinary formation skills, he could gather Spiritual Energy from within a hundred miles into one place. However, there was still too little Spiritual Energy; this wasn't due to the formation itself but rather the Earth's inherent condition. Once the Earth's Spiritual Energy revived in the future, this issue would be resolved easily.
Instead of suspending the Spirit Fire Stones in mid-air, Jiang Chen placed them in various corners of the room. The purpose of the Spirit Fire Stones was merely to replace electric lights; suspended in mid-air, they provided excellent illumination like little suns but obscured the starry sky at night.
While Jiang Chen was arranging the formation in the Falling Snow Courtyard, Zeng Xianyi had already called Zeng Wenwen back.
Zeng Wenwen ran in with joy to see her grandfather. Yesterday her grandfather had left in such a hurry that it was clear something significant had occurred. Curious as she was that her grandfather wanted to see her, she naturally came to inquire about it.
“Grandpa! You're back so soon! I thought you were going to disappear for another half month!” Zeng Wenwen exclaimed playfully as she entered the living room.
“It was supposed to take a week or even half a month, but because Uncle Jiang was here, things got resolved quickly,” Zeng Xianyi said with a smile and a kind expression.
Zeng Wenwen looked at her grandfather and suddenly paused slightly. Although he had always been kind and gentle towards her, today his warm demeanor made her feel somewhat flustered.
