"How beautiful!" Ye Mei exclaimed.
Ye Mei rode her bike alongside Yang Jing to Baisha. This small fishing village was called Xiaoshi Village, where Yang Jing's relatives lived on the outskirts. Upon seeing him arrive with his companion, they greeted them with great warmth and hospitality. Despite Yang Jing and Ye Mei repeatedly stating that they had already had dinner and were quite full, the relatives insisted on laying out a feast of tea, cakes, and fruits, making it hard for Yang Jing and Ye Mei to refuse. Eventually, they found themselves eating until they could hardly stand up straight.
Yang Jing knew his relatives would have work to do at sea early the next morning and didn’t want to overstay their welcome. He also heard rumors of an approaching typhoon, but the tour guide, Miss Shi, hadn’t mentioned anything about it during the day. Uncertain about how the planned outing for tomorrow would be affected, he started to feel anxious. After finishing a few pots of tea, he decided it was time to take his leave.
The villagers were very hospitable and insisted on having them stay overnight, but Yang Jing and Ye Mei politely declined. After much discussion, they finally managed to say their goodbyes and hopped onto the motorcycle to head back to Mashan.
As they rode past a small temple, they were greeted by a vast sky filled with twinkling stars, deep and enchanting.
"How beautiful!" Ye Mei said again.
Yang Jing stopped the motorcycle, and they sat on the stone steps in front of the temple. Ye Mei tilted her face up to gaze at the stars while Yang Jing admired her lovely features; both were lost in their thoughts.
"So beautiful, so peaceful!" Ye Mei remarked.
"You are too," Yang Jing replied.
Ye Mei smiled at him.
"Isn't it a pity that the person beside you is me?" Yang Jing said, lowering his head.
"You... you're great too!" Ye Mei responded. "You really are a good person."
"Oh? Then marry me," Yang Jing joked.
"I don't necessarily have to marry a good person!" Ye Mei replied playfully.
"Hmm... then I might turn bad..." Yang Jing feigned a sinister expression.
"You won't," Ye Mei assured him. "You promised not to bully me; you're a person of your word."
Yang Jing felt slightly deflated and began to grumble about why one should keep promises. Ye Mei laughed as she linked her arm through his and leaned against his shoulder while continuing to gaze at the starry sky. Yang Jing sighed and resigned himself to being the upright gentleman.
"The sky is so clear," Yang Jing said. "I guess the typhoon is really coming."
"Then we should hurry back and tell everyone," Ye Mei suggested.
They got back on the motorcycle and sped toward the city streets.
Upon returning to the hotel, they went to find Zhang Wu but found his room empty. After thinking for a moment, Yang Jing told Ye Mei he would take her back to rest first.
Ye Mei shared a room with Zheng Yi, and as they reached the door, Zheng Yi happened to open it just then.
"Yo..." Zheng Yi glanced at them sideways. "You're back... Hmm? Still holding hands?"
Ye Mei's face turned red as she quickly released Yang Jing's hand and said, "He just walked me back."
"Is that so?" Zheng Yi turned and walked back into the room, with Ye Mei and Yang Jing following behind. Yang Jing casually closed the door.
"Wow!" Yang Jing exclaimed upon seeing the chaotic state of the room. "You must have just fought World War III."
Zheng Yi replied, "A bunch of people left just five minutes ago, saying they were going out for a late-night snack. If you had come back any later, I would have gone looking for you. Hehe, then I wouldn't have seen such a sweet scene."
"We're not being sweet at all!" Ye Mei said anxiously. "Don't talk nonsense."
"Is that so?" Zheng Yi walked over and wrapped an arm around Ye Mei's waist. "Let me check..."
Before Ye Mei could react, Zheng Yi bent down and reached under her skirt. She was wearing a spaghetti strap dress at the time, and she hurriedly stepped back, scolding, "You mischievous brat! Yang Jing is here; don't mess around."
