In his dreams, those masked figures belonged to the most mysterious organization in the world, Shen Gui Men. It was said that Shen Gui Men moved stealthily yet was exceptionally large in scale. Some even claimed that its power rivaled that of the Zi Family. Although Shen Gui Men was powerful, it engaged in unsavory activities, drawing the collective resistance of all forces in the world. Thus, members of Shen Gui Men were like rats crossing the street; once their whereabouts were revealed, they would face public extermination.
“Could it be?!” A sudden realization struck Mo Wen as he thought of Shen Gui Men. During the attack on Yinzhou by the Shu Cang army, there had been members of Shen Gui Men present; Long Jiu had been rescued by them. “So that’s why.” Reflecting on this matter clarified why those people had avoided discussing the Mo Family; there must be a connection between the Shu Cang Empire and Shen Gui Men, at least some individuals within it were linked to them. Who else could instill such fear that no one dared to mention this matter? However, this was merely speculation; the true situation remained unknown. Nevertheless, this revelation served as a reminder for him to be cautious when gathering information in the future.
The teahouse was bustling with activity; in Shu Cang Empire, teahouses and taverns were abundant. It was common knowledge that business discussions took place in teahouses while friendships were forged in taverns. Located in the northwest of the continent, Shu Cang was much colder than other regions, and its people enjoyed strong liquor with a bold demeanor. He chose not to visit a tavern because his attire was inappropriate for such places and he did not drink much himself. Taverns were rife with trouble; there was no need to invite complications into his life. While there were many rough individuals, there were also refined ones who claimed elegance and sought to distinguish themselves from what they perceived as uncouth by gathering at teahouses to brew tea and engage in lofty discussions with friends, showcasing their worldly knowledge. Mo Wen certainly did not believe that everyone at teahouses was refined; however, compared to taverns, he could hear more useful information here.
“Brother Hu Chi, three days from now there will be good items at the auction held by Ji Wu Fang. I wonder if you are interested?” Two individuals at the adjacent table were discussing an upcoming auction. Mo Wen had heard of Ji Wu Fang; it was the largest auction house in Snow City, known for holding auctions once a month while keeping its doors closed otherwise, claiming that each auction featured extraordinary items.
“Ji Wu Fang always boasts about auctioning top-tier goods; I think it’s all just talk.” Hu Chi replied somewhat displeased. He had attended Ji Wu Fang's auctions more than once but had never found anything to his liking.
