He sat in the car, looking up at her office. He knew that Li Wan was still at work; it had been several days since he last saw her, and he missed her deeply. He was aware that Li Wan and Cheng Wu had grown up together, and he knew how much she cared for him. He also knew that Cheng Wu liked Li Wan as well, treating her as his own possession, not allowing anyone to covet her.
He was aware that Cheng Wu was pursuing Yu Chao, and that Yu Chao had feelings for Cheng Wu. So, he deliberately made things difficult for Cheng Wu, intentionally got close to Yu Chao, and sought to sabotage their relationship. He thought that by doing so, he would feel happy, but he was mistaken.
He found himself unhappy; seeing Li Wan with Cheng Wu filled him with jealousy and anger. He realized he was done for—he had fallen for Li Wan. At first, he refused to acknowledge his feelings for her, convincing himself it was merely resentment and a desire for revenge against Cheng Wu. However, as time passed, he discovered that he thought of Li Wan more and more. Even when he saw her with Cheng Wu, it pained him deeply.
He knew he truly liked Li Wan but was afraid to admit it; he feared that he might hurt her. Until today, when he saw that video. In the video, Li Wan was surrounded by three men; she looked frightened but tried to maintain her composure. At that moment, fear gripped him—he was terrified something might happen to her.
He couldn't bear to think about what he would do if something happened to Li Wan. In that instant, he realized his feelings for her; he knew he couldn't lose her. So, he returned, deciding to confront his emotions. He understood that Li Wan had a good relationship with Cheng Wu and that she wouldn't easily give him up.
But he believed that if he worked hard enough, there would come a day when Li Wan would come to like him too. He was confident that day would arrive soon.
After work, Li Wan walked out of the company with Cheng Wu. She made an excuse about needing to go to the restroom and hurried to call Xu Qiang: "Where are you?"
"I'm downstairs at your company."
"Really?"
"Why would I lie to you?"
Li Wan thought for a moment, "Then wait for me there; I'll be right down."
Cheng Wu saw Li Wan hang up and immediately leaned in, "Where are you going?"
Li Wan smiled, "To the restroom."
"I just saw you come out of the bathroom."
Li Wan's heart tightened, "Really? You must have seen wrong."
Cheng Wu narrowed his eyes, "Li Wan, are you trying to shake me off?"
Li Wan was taken aback, "Why would I do that?"
"Is it because Xu Qiang is at your company now?"
Li Wan was startled, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Cheng Wu sneered, "Don't think I don't know what you're thinking. You must think Xu Qiang is more handsome and gentler than me, and you want to go with him, right?"
Li Wan was at a loss for words, "Cheng Wu, what are you talking about?"
Cheng Wu grabbed her wrist, "Li Wan, I'm telling you, I'm not letting you go."
Li Wan panicked, "Let go of me!"
Cheng Wu held her hand tightly, "I won't let go!"
Just then, a familiar voice rang out, "What are you two doing?"
Li Wan and Cheng Wu froze and turned to look.
Xu Qiang stood behind them, his face dark as he watched them.
Cheng Wu instinctively released his grip and looked at Xu Qiang warily, "What do you want?"
Xu Qiang coldly replied, "Shouldn't I be the one asking that question?"
Cheng Wu scoffed, "I was just playing around with Li Wan; what business is it of yours?"
Xu Qiang looked at him coldly, "Do you think I would believe you?"
Cheng Wu was furious, "Believe it or not, I don't care!"
He grabbed Li Wan and tried to leave, but Xu Qiang quickly seized Li Wan's other hand, "Li Wan, come here."
Li Wan panicked, "Xu Qiang, let go of me!"
Xu Qiang held on tightly, "Don't force me to take action."
Li Wan was anxious, "You dare!"
Seeing this, Cheng Wu quickly released his grip, "Xu Qiang, if you have the guts, come at me. Bullying Li Wan is nothing impressive!"
Xu Qiang stared at him, "You think I wouldn't dare?"
Li Wan hurriedly grabbed him, "Xu Qiang, calm down."
Taking a deep breath, Xu Qiang finally let go of Li Wan.
Cheng Wu provocatively looked at him, "Xu Qiang, I warn you to stay away from Li Wan; otherwise, I won't hold back."
Xu Qiang scoffed, "That should be my warning to you."
Cheng Wu was enraged, "Don't push your luck!"
Xu Qiang dismissed him and turned to Li Wan, "Let's go."
Li Wan nodded and followed him.
Cheng Wu watched their retreating figures, stomping his feet in frustration.
