Li Wan got into the car with Xu Qiang and fastened her seatbelt. She sighed, "Xu Qiang, why are you doing this?"
Xu Qiang turned to look at her and said, "Because I like you."
Li Wan was taken aback, her heart skipped a beat. She couldn't meet his gaze. "What... what did you say?"
Xu Qiang looked at her earnestly. "Li Wan, I like you."
Li Wan was stunned. She knew Xu Qiang had feelings for her, but she never expected him to confess so directly.
She felt a bit flustered. "Xu Qiang, you..."
Xu Qiang took her hand in his. "Li Wan, I don't want to hide my feelings anymore. I like you; I really like you."
Li Wan looked at him, her heart racing. She knew she liked him too, but she didn't expect him to confess so soon.
Feeling shy, she said, "Xu Qiang, please don't..."
Seeing her flushed cheeks, Xu Qiang couldn't help but lean in and kiss her.
Li Wan gasped and instinctively closed her eyes. His lips were cool and soft, sending shivers through her entire body. She felt as if her heart might burst.
When the kiss ended, she breathed heavily as she looked at him. "Xu Qiang, you..."
He gazed at her rosy cheeks and felt a surge of emotion before kissing her again.
This time, she didn't resist; she obediently closed her eyes and let him kiss her. He kissed deeply, making it hard for her to breathe.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally released her. Looking into her dazed eyes, he softly asked, "Li Wan, would you be willing to be with me?"
Li Wan stared into his deep eyes, her heart racing. She knew she should refuse him, but the words wouldn't come out.
She knew she had fallen in love with him, and she didn't want to give up on this relationship.
She nodded gently, "I’m willing."
He smiled and hugged her tightly, "Li Wan, thank you."
When Li Wan woke up, the sun was already shining. She lay in the luxurious apartment bed, staring at the ceiling, lost in thought.
She recalled what Xu Qiang had said to her last night—he truly liked her. A wave of sweetness washed over her, but it was accompanied by a hint of unease.
She wasn't sure if she should believe him; after all, he had hurt her before. Yet, she couldn't bring herself to reject him; she feared it would hurt him.
She decided to wait and see. If Xu Qiang was sincere, she would consider accepting his feelings.
The next morning, Li Wan got up early and bought breakfast, waiting downstairs at Cheng Wu's villa.
When Cheng Wu saw her, his expression darkened. "What are you doing here?"
Li Wan smiled brightly as she handed him the breakfast. "I brought you breakfast."
Cheng Wu glanced at the food in her hands and scoffed, "A cat crying for a mouse—how hypocritical."
Li Wan maintained her smile. "How am I being hypocritical? I genuinely want to be friends with you."
Cheng Wu snorted again, "Friends? Do you really consider me a friend?"
Li Wan nodded earnestly. "Of course."
Seeing her sincere expression softened his heart. He took the breakfast from her hands. "Alright, I'll temporarily believe you."
Li Wan beamed, "That's more like it! We are good friends."
Cheng Wu looked at her smiling face and felt a moment of daze.
After work, Li Wan and Xu Qiang headed home together. They shared a tacit understanding and neither mentioned what had happened the night before.
Upon returning home, Li Wan went to her room to take a shower and change clothes, while Xu Qiang stayed in the living room watching television.
When Li Wan finished her shower and came out, she saw Xu Qiang sitting in the living room. She walked over and sat beside him. "When are you going to the company?" she asked.
"Tomorrow," he replied.
Li Wan looked at him. "Xu Qiang, have you really thought this through?"
Xu Qiang nodded. "Yeah."
Li Wan sighed. "Since you've made your decision, I won't try to persuade you otherwise."
Xu Qiang looked at her. "Aren't you happy?"
Li Wan shook her head. "No, I'm happy."
Xu Qiang continued to gaze at her in silence.
Feeling a bit uneasy under his stare, Li Wan asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Xu Qiang chuckled lightly. "It's nothing; I just think you're quite cute."
Li Wan's face flushed. "Stop it."
Xu Qiang looked at her and suddenly said, "Li Wan, thank you."
Li Wan was taken aback. "Thank me for what?"
Xu Qiang met her gaze. "Thank you for understanding me."
A warmth spread through Li Wan's heart as she looked at him. She smiled and said, "We're good friends, of course I understand you."
Seeing the smile on her face stirred something within Xu Qiang. Unable to resist, he reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
Li Wan was momentarily stunned but then leaned against his shoulder. His embrace was warm and comforting, making her feel at ease. She closed her eyes, savoring the tranquility of the moment.
