"Li Wan, what are you doing?"
You Li Li tapped me, pulling my thoughts back to the present.
I came to my senses and smiled awkwardly. "Oh, nothing."
You Li Li glanced at the lovey-dovey couple in front of us. "Are you envious of them?"
I was taken aback. "Me?"
She nodded. "Yeah, I've noticed you've been staring at them."
I felt a bit embarrassed. "I was just casually looking."
You Li Li linked her arm with mine. "Come on, we're close friends; there's no need to feel shy about it."
"You've known Cheng Wu for so many years, yet nothing has ever sparked between you two."
I cleared my throat. "We're just friends."
You Li Li scoffed. "I don't believe that."
"How can there be pure friendship between a guy and a girl? Besides, Cheng Wu definitely has feelings for you."
I sighed helplessly. "Stop saying that."
"I really mean it; there's nothing between us."
You Li Li rolled her eyes at me. "I couldn't care less about your situation."
"By the way, how are things going with Xu Qiang?"
I frowned slightly. "What do you mean by 'how are things'?"
You Li Li blinked at me. "Don't play dumb; aren't you two dating?"
I was taken aback. "Who told you we were dating?"
You Li Li chuckled softly, "Do I really need someone to tell me? I'm not stupid."
"Xu Qiang looks at you in a way that clearly shows he likes you," she added.
I fell silent.
You Li Li continued, "Li Wan, don't be confused."
"Xu Qiang is not a good person; don't let him deceive you."
I smiled slightly, "I know."
"Don't worry, I have it all figured out."
Seeing my response, You Li Li stopped pressing the issue.
The four of us played around by the seaside for a while before heading back.
On the way home, You Li Li and I watched a couple ahead of us being affectionate, and we exchanged glances of disbelief.
I quietly wondered if I could walk hand in hand with Xu Qiang like that, without being interrupted every time the atmosphere was just right.
Did I really have to wait until after graduation to start dating? Was it impossible to balance love and work? How long could Xu Qiang wait for me?
Every time I thought about these things, I felt a twinge of worry.
Four young people frolicked by the sea, chatting about the future while feeling the ocean breeze on the beach. Each shared their thoughts without reservation, yet it seemed everyone spoke only half of what was on their minds, hiding untold secrets within.
Yu Chao's eyes reflected sadness, Cheng Wu appeared lost in thought, You Li Li had someone in another department on her mind, and then there was my Xu Qiang.
Each young person's worries grew; who said youth was free from sorrow? At that time, we all had our unspoken struggles.
On the way back, Cheng Wu told me he had broken up with Yu Chao.
I was taken aback. "You broke up? Why?"
Cheng Wu smiled faintly, "Consider it a breakup trip."
"It was her decision; I respect it."
I felt a bit concerned. "Are you okay?"
Cheng Wu shook his head. "Don't worry; I'm fine."
"I just feel it's a pity, but we're still friends."
I sighed deeply. "Ah, life is truly unpredictable."
Cheng Wu glanced at me and asked, "What about you? How are things with Xu Qiang?"
I shrugged. "Same as always."
Cheng Wu squinted slightly. "You two aren't thinking about getting married, are you?"
I shot him a glare. "What nonsense are you talking about?"
"We're not at that stage yet."
Cheng Wu sighed. "Well, you should focus on your work for now."
"After all, someone like Xu Qiang..."
He seemed to recall something and hesitated.
I frowned. "What's wrong with Xu Qiang?"
Cheng Wu pulled at the corner of his mouth. "Nothing."
"I just think you should find someone more suitable for you."
"After all, Xu Qiang's background..."
He stopped again.
I looked at him, feeling a bit puzzled. What exactly did Cheng Wu want to say? Why did he always hesitate when mentioning Xu Qiang?
