Geng Hui snapped back to reality. "Xiao Dong, what do you mean? Do you also like this woman?"
Dong Yi smiled noncommittally.
Now it was my turn to be shocked.
Could it be that Dong Yi really liked me?
How could that be possible?
She and Chen Kun were clearly a couple!
At that moment, Dong Yi walked up to me and gently patted my shoulder.
"Xiao Li, don't take it to heart."
"She's just spoiled and a bit willful."
"Next time you encounter a situation like this, just ignore her."
After saying that, he turned to Geng Hui. "Miss Geng, right?"
"Our company has a policy against office romances."
"So Xiao Li and President Chen have no relationship whatsoever."
Geng Hui scoffed. "I don't believe that!"
Dong Yi shrugged helplessly. "Well, there's nothing more I can do."
Geng Hui invited me to a coffee shop.
“Li Shanshan, I won’t beat around the bush with you,” she said.
“Chen Kun is my boyfriend, and I hope you can stay away from him.”
I stirred my coffee absentmindedly and asked, “Why should I?”
Geng Hui sneered, “Because you want money.”
She pushed a check across the table toward me.
“This is five million; it’s enough for you to live on for a lifetime.”
“And I can help you find a job. Once you get a job, you can pay me back.”
I looked down at the check on the table, unable to suppress a smile.
“Give me the check first.”
Geng Hui was taken aback for a moment but then took out another check, filled in the amount, tore it off, and handed it to me.
“Here’s five million. Can you leave now?”
I stuffed the check into my bag and took a sip of my coffee.
“Miss Geng, how much do you know about President Chen?”
Geng Hui looked confused. "What do you mean?"
I chuckled softly. "Do you know what kind of coffee he likes?"
Geng Hui furrowed his brow. "He likes Blue Mountain coffee."
I shook my head. "Wrong. He prefers cappuccino."
Geng Hui was taken aback. "How do you know that?"
I smiled mysteriously. "I'm his assistant, of course I know."
Geng Hui snorted coldly. "So what?"
"Do you know what brand of clothes he likes to wear?"
I shook my head again. "I only know he usually wears Versace."
Geng Hui sneered. "He treats you so coldly, yet you still like him?"
I smiled slightly. "How I feel about him doesn't matter."
"What matters is that he is my boss, and I just need to do my job well."
Geng Hui gritted his teeth in frustration. "What are you pretending for?"
"Just look at the way he looks at you; it's obvious he has feelings. Can you honestly say you don't like him?"
I was taken aback.
Did I?
Just then, a familiar voice sounded behind me.
“Li Shanshan.”
I turned around and saw Chen Kun standing right behind me.
“President Chen.”
I greeted him with a smile.
Chen Kun walked straight over and sat down beside me.
Geng Hui was agitated. “Are you following me?”
Chen Kun shot her a cold glance. “Do you think you’re that important?”
Geng Hui was furious. “Chen Kun!”
Ignoring her outburst, Chen Kun turned to me. “Li Shanshan, I need to talk to you.”
I nodded. “Let’s go then.”
Chen Kun stood up and walked outside, with me following closely behind him.
His hand suddenly grabbed mine, and I was taken aback.
After struggling a few times with no success, I had no choice but to let him hold my hand.
He only released me once we were outside the café.
"I'm sorry, I was a bit impulsive just now," he said.
I scratched my head awkwardly. "It's fine."
Chen Kun sighed, "I didn't expect her to come and cause trouble for you."
I smiled slightly. "It's okay; she didn't say anything too outrageous. She was just being a bit childish."
Chen Kun patted my head. "I heard she said some disrespectful things to you. I wanted to come and comfort you properly."
I asked in confusion, "Who did you hear that from?"
Chen Kun paused for a moment. "I heard it from someone."
I pouted. "Alright then."
Chen Kun patted my head again. "I'm glad you're not upset."
