My heart trembled slightly.
Is he concerned about me?
Just then, Chen Kun spoke again.
"By the way, what I said earlier in the office was wrong."
I asked in confusion, "Which part?"
Chen Kun said seriously, "I said I don't like to be jealous."
I was taken aback.
What does that mean?
Could it be that he is jealous?
No way, right?
He must be trying to provoke Geng Hui on purpose.
Chen Kun waved his hand in front of my eyes, "What are you daydreaming about?"
I quickly snapped back to reality, "Nothing."
Chen Kun smiled, "Let me take you home."
I nodded.
At that moment, Chen Kun's phone rang.
He answered the call and after a few murmurs, hung up.
"I have to go to the hospital for something, so I won't be able to see you home."
After work, I received a call from Aunt Zhou.
"Shan Shan, Auntie has been discharged from the hospital."
"Are you free tonight?"
"Aunt Zhou would like to invite you over for dinner."
I was taken aback for a moment, but then I agreed.
After packing my things, I took a taxi to her house.
Aunt Zhou lives in a villa in the southern part of the city.
Once I stepped inside, I realized the interior was luxuriously decorated, resembling a palace.
"Aunt Zhou, your home is truly beautiful!"
Aunt Zhou smiled warmly and took my hand. "As long as you want, this can be your home from now on."
She led me to the sofa and urged me to sit down.
Aunt Zhou handed me a glass of water. "Take a moment to rest; we’ll cook together later."
I nodded in response.
Aunt Zhou then took me to a room on the second floor.
"This is your room. Take a look and see if there's anything you need."
I opened the door and was surprised by the decor inside.
Pink bed sheets, pink pillows, pink wardrobe...
Even the slippers, toothbrush, towels, and pajamas were all pink.
"This..."
Aunt Zhou looked at me with a smile. "I specially prepared this for you."
"Do you like it?"
I nodded. "Thank you, Aunt Zhou."
Aunt Zhou patted my shoulder and said, "From now on, consider this place your home. If you need anything, just let me know."
I nodded, feeling a surge of emotion inside.
Aunt Zhou has been so kind to me; how can I repay her?
Half an hour later, I accompanied Aunt Zhou into the kitchen.
I planned to prepare a few light dishes.
After all, she had just been discharged from the hospital and couldn't eat anything too greasy.
As I was cutting potatoes, I accidentally sliced my finger.
Blood immediately flowed out.
Aunt Zhou quickly grabbed a band-aid and some iodine, holding my hand with concern. "How can you be so careless?"
I chuckled, "It's nothing, just a little scratch."
Aunt Zhou sighed, "If only Chen Kun were here."
"He's still out buying dark soy sauce."
Dark soy sauce?
I paused for a moment.
There seemed to be some dark soy sauce in the kitchen.
Just then, a familiar voice came from behind me.
"I brought back the dark soy sauce."
I turned around to see Chen Kun standing there.
I was taken aback. "President Chen?"
Chen Kun nodded. "You're visiting my home?"
I nodded, then realized something was off. "Your home?"
Chen Kun pointed to himself. "That's right, this is my home."
I widened my eyes in surprise. "So Aunt Zhou is your mother?"
Chen Kun nodded.
I gasped and covered my mouth in astonishment.
No wonder they had different last names.
Just then, Chen Kun suddenly grabbed my wrist.
"What happened to your hand?"
I looked down and saw blood dripping onto the floor.
"It's nothing, just a small cut."
Chen Kun sighed. "How can you be so careless?"
As he spoke, he held my wrist and pulled me to the sink to wash away the blood. After cleaning it, he disinfected the wound with iodine and put a band-aid on it.
His fingers were cold, making me shiver involuntarily.
