The typhoon has truly arrived. The Meteorological Bureau issued a marine typhoon warning early in the morning, causing Liu Meng and her friends' plans to go out to sea to be delayed. Everyone was stuck in the hotel, feeling bored. Despite the stormy clouds and raging waves over Qianhu Lake, Dongning Prefecture enjoyed clear skies and gentle breezes, with a vast coastline dotted with delicate white waves. Yang Jingsheng sat on the Ziqiang train along the Huadong Line, gazing out at the magnificent scenery.
Due to the holiday, the carriage was crowded and noisy. Some standing passengers even sat on the armrests of the seats. Xu Yuan frowned at this and decided to lean against Yang Jingsheng to avoid being jostled by those rude individuals.
After sending Liu Meng off yesterday, Yang Jingsheng returned home feeling bored. In the afternoon, he went to visit Xu Yuan, hoping to catch up with her. For some unknown reason, the main door of her apartment building was left unlocked, so he climbed up to the fourth floor and knocked on Xu Yuan's door. Still half-asleep, she groggily opened the door and, upon realizing it was Yang Jingsheng, joyfully threw herself into his arms. They embraced tightly, and she pouted in complaint about how long it had been since he last visited.
Yang Jingsheng lifted her high into his arms as she cupped his face in her hands, showering him with kisses. He carried her to the edge of the bed, where they sat together. Xu Yuan gazed at him quietly before saying, "I really missed you!"
Yang Jingsheng knew she meant it sincerely. Living in a world filled with insincerity, Xu Yuan unexpectedly met an ordinary boy like Yang Jingsheng. Her lonely heart cherished him more as a good friend than as a lover.
As Yang Jingsheng held her close, Xu Yuan listened intently to his steady heartbeat, enjoying this rare moment of warmth in the afternoon. He loved her long, shiny hair and gently brushed it with his hand. After a while of looking at him, Xu Yuan suddenly asked, "Yang Jingsheng, are you on summer break?"
"Yes."
"Do you have time tomorrow? Would you come home with me?" Xu Yuan asked.
"To Jiangdong?"
"Yeah."
After considering it for a moment, Yang Jingsheng agreed. Xu Yuan was very happy and immediately called someone to ask for a few days off from work before changing clothes and dragging Yang Jingsheng along to the department store.
Yang Jingsheng thought she would browse through women's clothing or cosmetics but was surprised when she showed no interest in those sections and kept circling around the men's department instead. She asked for his opinion on shirts, ties, jackets, and leather goods in great detail. Noticing the gentle sparkle in her eyes, Yang Jingsheng asked, "Are you buying for your family?"
"For my father," Xu Yuan nodded.
Yang Jingsheng helped her choose several more conservative styles. Xu Yuan held them in her hands and kept looking at them with a hint of unease at the corners of her mouth. Yang Jingsheng wrapped his arms around her waist, and they exchanged smiles.
Early that morning, Yang Jingsheng concocted an excuse for his mother about visiting a classmate for two or three days. His mother already knew he would likely be restless at home during his break; going out would help alleviate his boredom. She only reminded him to be careful on the road without asking further questions.
After packing a simple bag, Yang Jingsheng crossed the street to pick up Xu Yuan from her apartment. She had been up early and was already waiting at the entrance when he arrived. He took her large bag and hailed a taxi to Ningzhou Station to catch a train heading to Jiangdong, with their destination being Hong Tian.
Xu Yuan wore light makeup; her straight hair cascaded elegantly down to her waist. She donned a sleeveless fitted top that partially revealed her adorable belly button and a short narrow skirt that accentuated her long and graceful legs beautifully.
